Nicotine test?

Hello, I will be starting a new job at a hospital soon(hopefully) and I have to take a required nicotine test. I’ve been drinking a lot of water and cutting back on nicotine. I was reading here that many people vape nicotine but don’t always inhale. If I did that would nicotine show up on my nicotine test?

Yes. The nicotine would absolutely show up on a test.
Vaporized nicotine will be absorbed by the mucous membranes in your mouth, nose and throat.

If you vape nicotine, you are absorbing it through your mouth, even if you dont inhale. You can even absorb it through your skin just by handling the juice. Your best bet. Is to switch to zero nicotine until after the test. The water is good.

Sorry to pry but a nicotine test to work in a hospital?
Wow!! never heard that before,i mean if it were a certain ''green herb'' or maybe even breathalyzer test (for alcohol) for a surgeon before he is going to operate...but nicotine?

Is there something i missed here,is there some countries of the world where you getting or not getting a job is dependant on the fact if you smoke/vape or don't vape/smoke?

Just seems highly odd to me,i mean drugs and alcohol sure but nicotine just doesn't seem right.

Really didn't mean to pry,just interested if this is a ''thing'',never heard about it before.

wow so the saying ''you learn something new everyday'' is true,wasn't really aware of that.

Apologies if my post came across the wrong way,just asking out of mere curiosity.

But it does seem a bit wrong,i mean yeah in a job where physical activity is required a smoker might do worst due to his limited lung capacity i could see them doing a nic test but what if you vape?
Vaping does not affect in no way your lung capacity so the test in itself is flawed...

I believe it's for insurance purposes.

At least where I am in Northwest Ohio USA there are a lot of companies that do not allow smokers to work for them, and that means a nic test on employment and probably on occasion.
This is directly because the insurance companies charge more for smokers, and the company employing them has to pay more for the smokers insurance, or they get a better group rate for the company.
I don't get a nic test where I work, but if I am on the company insurance plan (I am) I have to declare myself a smoker or take a nic test to prove I am not. Vaping is considered tobacco use in the U.S. As a smoker (I'm not) I get a hefty tobacco Surcharge along with my standard insurance bill, about triple for me what it is for a non smoker.
Ohio is an "At will work state". You agree to your employers rules if you want to be employed by them, and it's your choice to stay there. The rules are always subject to change without notice.
Hospitals, some automotive industry factories, our casino does not employ smokers, it's a business move to cut cost.
