Why is it that the word "niquid" only pulls up 182 references here on the forums, whereas "juice" and "e-juice" are off the charts? What does "e-juice" mean, anyway? "Electronic juice"?

I don't get the popularity of the "juice" slang. I mean, yes, it's only one syllable, but to me, juice is what you get when you squeeze liquid out of a fruit or vegetable. The other connotations are less than savory - anabolic steroids ("juicing up"), and so-on ... and if we want brevity in our Forum-speak, how about "niq"? Short for "niquid", which is short for "nicotine liquid", which is accurate.

Pfft I don't care, I've been calling it niquid ever since I got my first bottle. E juice doesn't really work if you think about it. The juice isn't electronic. Just because It goes in an electronic device does not make it E anything.

Do we call oil M juice, since it goes in machinery or metal?

Do we call water L juice, for life?

Nicotine + Liquid = Niquid. It just works out so perfectly.

Me and you man, were starting a new trend. We'll be the pioneers of the phrase niquid. And don't think I'm gonna stop just because a company "owns" the word. I mean, i'll never try and sell anything called niquid, or use it as a brand name, but I don't care if Donald Trump owns the word, I'm usin it in everyday speech, and the forums.

Btw, I totally agree with the concept that the title or name automatically conveys an emotional connection in most people.

I was talking about that exact thing with the gf last night as we were watching some show about a special forces contest.

The goal was to lash together improvised supplies to move a heavy object.

One team was calling it an apparatus and they won, the other team that was calling theirs a contraption lost.

Both teams just used the words without thinking of the connitations but I know it made a difference in the ways they approached the problem.

apparatus is a tool that you use to get a job done.

contraption is some junk you throw together and try to get it to work.

To me, whether or not a particular retailer uses the term "niquid" is irrelevant; most of them call these gadgets "e-cigarettes" as well, which is (IMO) just as inaccurate and misleading as "juice". If more consumers start asking for niquid, then the suppliers will adapt.

The bigger picture is that since we're in at the start of this movement, which I like to think is the future of the "inhaled nicotine addiction", we shouldn't just let certain terms become our default slang.

Actually, I'll go further than that and suggest that a whole lot of the negative press and extant bans against PVs can be traced to a knee-jerk reaction against the "e-cigarette" terminology. People naturally assume it's just some high-tech way of smoking tobacco, and that colors their perception of the whole subject. If they don't have the time or interest to actually learn about it, that's more hearts and minds lost, simply due to a poorly-chosen slang word.

Maybe "Personal Nicotine Inhaler" or somesuch is a better term than "Electronic Cigarette". I agree that we need to get away from the cigarette connotation. When I first saw these, I ONLY wanted one that looks like a cig. NOW....I'd rather not have it be white with a tan cart. My 510's (whenever they get here on the slow boat from China...lol) are black with blue LED. I will probably try to cover the LED so it doesn't show at all.
"Niquid" is certainly better than "juice". I have had some of the strangest looks from people when I call it juice. I then correct myself and say liquid nicotine.
Of course SE isn't helping with the new radio ads and basically targeting the younger crowd (ie: teens). Maybe we should do a poll in order to start a vocabulary revolution with "PNI's".

I've never been comfortable with the term vapor inhaler or personal vapor inhaler, or anything with vapor in the name, but PNI or Personal Nicotine Inhaler could work. Likewise on the nicquid. Never really cared for the "juice" tag but couldn't think of anything better. I prefer the "nic"quid spelling. Less catchy and more descriptive.
"I use a PNI filled with Nicquid." Wouldn't bother me to say that. Of course you're going to be explaining both names to everyone for a very long time.

I fit opaque black plastic pen caps on my 510s for stealth vaping. Completely blocks out the LED light and also offers a handy little clip for securing the PV in pockets, etc.

Similar acronyms have come up in other discussions - the problem is that PNIs is so similar to PeNIs ...

I've been thinking about alternative slang for a while. I'm inclined to call my PV my "vape", as in, "I'm gonna grab a vape", "my new vape is a Joye510"; equivalent to the double meaning of smoke (the actual smoke produced, and also the cigarette itself).

"I vape niquid" or "I use niquid in my vape" would still require explaining to outsiders, but it's less likely to cause the knee-jerk contempt/confusion conjured by "I use e-juice in my e-cigarette".

You don't taste your motor oil do you? So how can you compare that to ejuice?

A name like niquid causes the assumption that the liquid contains nicotine, not true for 0 nic juice which works just as well in our PV's.

ejuice and eliquid are much more proper of a use, as often times the flavor of the liquid is much better tasting than oil.
