Non-smoker looking for an e-cig :P

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum, and to everything in the realm of smoking/vaping. What I'm going to try to do here is provide as much information as I can and hope there's an option for me =]

- I'm a non-smoker, and do not have a nicotine addiction. I would need a non-nicotine juice.
- I really hate the smell (and corresponding taste) of cigarettes, but that of cigars is usually tolerable. Ideally, I would like to have a juice that is flavored strongly (vanilla, fruit, coffee, etc.), just not of tobacco :p
- Lots of vapor would be cool =]
- It would be awesome to have an e-cig that is not colored like a real cig. I was looking at Blu (largely) for this reason.

It probably seems really strange that I'm looking for an e-cig, considering that I don't need the nicotine fix. I have a bit of an oral fixation. I take Concerta for ADHD, and it's good for preventing snacking throughout the day. (No sex jokes for this next part, please >.<) However, I still have a compulsion to suck/bite. My fingernails and cuticles take a major beating in times of stress. I've noticed that, when I'm stressed, I tend to bend and bite the ends of straws when I have a drink. This lets me focus my thoughts on the drag, and it helps.

I'd like to give e-cigs a try and see if they're a more convenient (and still tasty) way to satisfy this compulsion. So, is there hope? :p Let me know if you have any recommendations for brands to look at! Thanks =]

Hey thisisthestart! I also have adhd and find myself getting bored of flavors quite easily. I would recommend you look at highbrowvapor. The flavors I've tried from them have a certain complexity that I absolutely love! In terms of e cigs, it really depends on how big you wanna go. I personally have a kgo with boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers that I use when i go to work and it works very well for me.

There are a lot of vendors who offer a wide variety of colors (besides blu). Vapor quantity depends more on the kind of juice that you use, higher vg= more vapor. Does qualities like battery life, battery size, and price make a difference to you? Knowing the answer to those three questions would make it easier to give advice.

Whoops, forgot to include that stuff :x Price: If I can get everything I need to start for under $80, that would be awesome. I don't imagine I'll be using it all the time, but higher battery life is always great. As for size... I have no idea o.o I guess smaller is better, like maybe close to an actual cigarette. I have pretty small hands :p

I am also one of the bunches here with ADD. I use to regularly be on heavy medication for it and while it did help the side effects of the medication were pretty brutal. Now... sometimes I take my medication but with no medical insurance I can't take it everyday so when I do take it I notice the side effects. Vaping doesn't necessarily stop the harmful side effects such as an overwhelming urge to scratch your skin. It may help you at first but having ADD you may end up bored with vaping/its effectiveness of keeping you from harming yourself may diminish.

If you really want to go for it I'm not trying to stop you just sharing my perspective/experience with you. It may help... but only go so far. You should consider wearing cotton cloths at home, talking to your doctor about taking vacations on your meds/lowering dose/etc. I get the meds for ADD are no joke so I really hope you talk to your doctor about the side effects you are dealing with.

Hi & Welcome to ECF! I don't know if you're concerned about the appearance of the PV other than not wanting it to look like a cigarette, but from a functional standpoint the size makes a big difference. If you'd be comfortable with one about the size of a Sharpie Marker there's one called the KGO that's highly recommended. The kit comes with 2 batteries (as most kits do) and each one will easily last an average vaper about 10 hours between charges. There are a number of ways to get the flavored liquid delivered & atomized, such as cartomizers, clearomizers, dripping atomizers, tanks and so on. Then of course there's the liquid itself, available from many sources. AFAIK just about any liquid vendor will ship zero-nicotine juice upon request in any flavor they produce. I've been mixing my own almost since I started vaping so I don't have any personal recommendations to offer, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly.

And a final note: personally I applaud what you're trying to do & will pray for your success. You may encounter a few people who feel threatened by the idea of using vaping for anything except kicking tobacco addictions, and such people may try to discourage you. I hope you'll try to be understanding of them & of their concerns, and that you won't take it personally. I also hope you won't allow anyone to frighten you away from trying this, because that's the only way you'll ever know if it will work for you. And finally, I hope you will stick to your commitment to avoid nicotine.

Best of luck, & Happy, stress-free Vaping! :vapor:

Thanks so much for sharing. I have actually always had the compulsion. It's definitely an anxiety issue with me, I've had it since well before I started on ADHD medications (at 12 years old, I'm 18 now). I've never noticed much of a difference between being on/off Concerta. Thank you, though! Good luck managing your ADHD, I know it can be really sucky x.x

=] Thanks so much! All of this suddenly got complicated, haha. I'll check out the KGO, it sounds interesting.
And thank you for your support :D I understand some of the concerns regarding this type of ..stress management? :p But I'm going to try it, and I'll see if it's right for me. No worries about the nicotine, I know that I don't need any more stimulants in my system :p Thanks!

I almost said something to discourage it, but decided to mind my own business. I really thought about it and decided that it would be silly to discourage her from something I think is fairly safe if she thinks that it could help her. I think the thing I (and I'm sure others) find threatening about things like this is that it could be used as ammunition against vaping. One of the things that opponents are always saying is that it will lure in non-smokers, which is generally ridiculous.

I have both a volt and a kgo, and they are both good products. Here is a pic of a 78mm volt next to a KGO, to give a size comparison.

Just found the "like" button, sweeeeeeet! Anyways.. thank you for being understanding =] Although I'm proof of that concern, I believe that I've made the most responsible choice in dealing with my needs. It would be a whole lot easier for me to buy cigarillos, cigarettes, pot, etc., but I've decided against using nicotine, tobacco, and illicit drugs. This makes a smoking/sucking fixation a bit tough to deal with :p So I hope that others can understand my reasons for making this choice, and appreciate that I'm making it a safe one. =]

Ahh.... Okay. Ya I can understand that. I also picked up a few bad skin habits from my mom growing up so I know a little more where you are coming from dealing with the issues before the meds ever started. It's a battle, but the ADD meds made it even worse! Like I said though I'm not trying to stop you just give you a friendly heads up it may only go so far. Not giving into the compulsion is such a challenge and you deserve a big pat on the back for trying to fight that battle.

My personal favorite hardware site is Liberty-Flights.com. They normally have a 20% off coupon. Sometimes it's out in the open... other times it's stealthy placed under a "discount" bar. The code for LF.com is "october20" I keep hearing these "eGo-C Twist" kits are all the rage. You can dial up and down the "warmth" of your vape a little on them. Sort of a stepping stone to real variable voltage devices.

If you happen to be a girl you might really enjoy the firefly. My friend who is also not a smoker got one( always wanted to smoke cigarettes, always said no, during a bad break up she got into vaping instead of smoking) --http://liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=104 I checked it out... it's really frigging cute and kind of an "eGo" knock off but.... more adorable.

Another epic hardware site imho is good prophets. I love those guys. They have some pretty decent cleromizers that come with a syringe to help fill the suckers perfectly. -->GoodProphets.com - Your View into the World of Vaping... I can't speak for their battery kits. I use them mostly for DIY stuff but they always have awesome sales on the little vaping things you need here and there.

I could go on but i'm sure you're going to get a lot of opinions on whats the best this or that! These are only mine.

No problem & You're Welcome! Manual batteries are better protected against leaks. Most of the automatic have an air sensory hole for when you inhale. If juice happens to get into the hole your auto battery has a much greater chance of dying. Another bonus for using a manual/click button device is you have more control of how much vape you get. If you plan to buy blank cartomizers and or drip(dripping juice directly on your atomizer to sample your juice flavors) + bottles of juice it's best to go with manual.
