i'm new to vaping and started with an 808 and absolutely love it! i would definitely recommend it to any smoker looking to make the transition. i think the similarity in look and feel combined with minimal effort makes it a great way to transition from analogs to e's. but then again i'm only a little more than a week in and haven't tried really anything else, just sayin' it's worked amazingly for me so far! not one analog after my first vape!

Your friend is right. If you like vaping and decide to stick with it, you will most likely end up with a mod at some point. The vast majority of us have.

I wish I had skipped the mass produced PVs and went straight to a mod myself. Instead, I spent $100 on a mega ego kit that has been sitting in a box collecting dust since I bought my first mod a week or so after I started vaping.

Put the kit up for resale???

I started with the Kr808. I now own 901's, 510's, 801's, and I have tried Low Resistence and high voltage vaping. The Kr808 is still my favorite.

Ya know, I don't think as many of us wind up moving to mods as people think. I think the modsters here are highly communicative, and highly innovative, which makes them highly visible.

But every vaper I have personally met outside of a vaping meet still uses stock batteries, and is happy with them. Most of them don't like high voltage. Most of them don't have any desire to move to a mod. Myself included.

I think the fact that there are a lot of hobbyists here disguises the larger and quieter majority who just are happy to not be smoking and don't need "more."

I am a hobbyist to a degree. I enjoy vaping a lot. I make my own juice. But yes, I'll say it, I'm looking to simulate smoking. High voltage vaping is, well, nothing like smoking to me. It's far more intense. And I don't want that - I just want to chill and vape, like I chilled and smoked.

I want to be able to hold my e-cig between my fingers as I type, like I did when I smoked. I want those things still, even after 3 months of vaping. And based on the "average people" vapers I've met, I don't think I'm in the minority.

Very insightful post Traveling Lady - and I agree completely.

It's the nature of all forums (not just this one) that the people who are really INTO whatever the forum is all about take over all the non-newbie sections.

Go to any shaving forum and tell them you're a 13 year old boy and just about to start shaving and ask for advice: You'll get a ton of people who instantly tell you that unless you use a genuine badger hair brush, hard shaving soap, and a straight razor with a strop that you might as well not bother. These are the hobbyists. For the other 99.99999997 percent of the population, a can of Edge and a Fusion is more than fine.

The same phenomenon applies to this forum (I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that it is). The vast majority of people who show up here (I believe) are people who want to either quit altogether or at least substitute something less harmful for smoking.

The unfortunate fact is that when it comes to PV, Dripping VS Carto VS Atty/Cart, juice flavor, nic level, basically everything about vaping, the only real answer is "try different things until you find what works for you".

As things stand now, the 510 and kr808 are almost (almost I say) interchangeable. For at least 50% of people, either of these in their basic form will probably suffice. Assuming they don't suffice, upgrading batteries, voltage, etc. is the next step. This next step is probably why the 510 is more popular - there are more parts that interchange without an adapter.

It's like 15 years ago, a Mac was a better machine than a PC, but almost everybody bought a PC because compatible software was cheap an plentiful in comparison.

I would love to try a KR808 but my question is are they all made the same? I ordered one initially from inhaler and have to say that I hated it. It may have been the prefilled carts and I had the luxury of having my Riva for 3 days before it arrived (so that definitely created a bias). I don't think I gave the 808 a fair shot because I was very satisfied with my Riva. I think I will go ahead and get a KR808 for my 2 month vaping anniversary (we all need a reason to spend). SOOOO where do you suggest I get one?

Yes, all Kr8's are pretty much the same. But the pre-filled cartos are vile. I'd try it with some blanks and a juice you like before you give up on it.

Not everyone likes the Kr8, though. It may just not be your thing. It does tend to be a love-or-hate device.

Some KR8s are sound activated. Most are vacuum activated. I can stick mine out of my sunroof and id doesn't fire(same w/ my SS, which I like better). Try that w/ a 510 auto.lol

Up until a few weeks ago, I kept it around as a backup. I never needed to use it, but now that I have 3 mods, a grip of batteries, and the parts to build my fourth mod on the way, I will get around to selling the batteries and the cone soon enough.

MistressNomad - I'm totally with you - started with the KR8 on April 1st and tomorrow I will be SIX months tobacco free! Like you, I feel that many of us 808 users are just happy and not as vocal.

Your videos are excellent and very helpful!

Well, we're the ones who aren't on a never-ending quest for bigger and better. We have no reason to be vocal. I'm just a loud mouth in general. :p

I like all of my stock models, really. I think any of them would be a good choice for a newbie. I happen to favor the Kr8, but there are endless satisfied stock battery 510, 901, and 801 users out there.

Thank you. :)

P.S. Congrats on 6 months!
