Anyone out there in the medical field vape at work? Not in front of patients of course, but in front of co-workers? If so, what type of reaction have you had?
I am a Paramedic, I vape in front of co workers, nurses, and Doctors all day long. I even had one Doctor ask me to get business cards for my main supplier to give his patients.

I vape almost anywhere...and I'm not ashamed to do it. I am confident in my new habbit and will sport it proudly. I do try to follow the no smoking rules, but I also ask before I vape in dining establishments out of respect, knowing that some places do welcome us vapers! So vape on...be proud of the change in your habbit. Show others that this is nothing to be ashamed of by presenting your own confindence in what you do.

That being said, there are many times and places where vaping will be out of place, confuse people, and generally cause a disruption and draw unwanted attention to the vaper. Thus, it is wise to consider the prudence of vaping in a particular time and place. A good example would be a nice non-smoking restaurant. If you start vaping in front of a large crowd of people who are paying good money to relax and enjoy their meals, don't be surprised if misunderstandings begin to occur. To me, a few drags on a PV is not worth confusing and potentially angering the people preparing my food.

I completely agree with you> I find it shocking that so many people seem to want to cause so many waves just to be able to vape in a non smoking establishment. Is it just the want to rebel authority, or does some people really need to vape that badly? I was already used to not smoking in those places, I don't have a desire to confuse people and vape in a non smoking restaraunt. I don't feel like explaining to everyone looking what it is...and since it is so new and such an odd looking gadget, and emits what apepars to be smoke, I think they have a right to know what it is, and I don't feel like explaining it when i am trying to enjoy my own meal.

Your last statement says it the best.

One of the last bars in this state that still allows smoking is right across the street from where I work. I'm sure they would be more than happy to allow vaping, too!

I'm not ashamed to vape, but I do try to be careful about it in areas where smoking isn't allowed. I caught myself vaping at Wal-Mart and the grocery store the other day. Oops.

I think bars could make some money by selling e-cigs. They wouldn't be breaking the smoking rules and their customers wont have to go outside.

Disposables are the way to go. They're cheap and require very little investment ~$10ea. Sell them at a 50% markup. Great conversation starters too. They aren't that great, compared to other models & brands, but they would at least give the noobie an idea of what to expect. Of course, they may not be able to sell them for long...the court will be ruling them either tobacco or drug delivery devices within the next few months. There might be laws prohibiting the sale of either of those by bars, depending on state's or locality's alcohol sales laws.

Ya know, I was just thinking about this.

I'm going into Mod Land, due to killing eGo's with my LR atties. I got over feeling weird in public with my Kr808's, and my eGo's. But I am not sure how I'll feel pulling out a shiny metal tube and taking a hit off it in public, ya know? I'm much more afraid of the cops eyeing me than I am with my more "standard" e-cigs.

I still feel weird about vaping a mod in public.

Any modsters who vape in public?

I have both 5 volt tube and box mods and vape in public all the time. And the reaction is MUCH better than when I was vaping an analog looking device. With a mod, no one confuses what you are doing with smoking. When asked, it is easier to explain that I switched to an alternative that is safe for me and those around me and that my doctor agrees with me. And I have vaped in front of policeman both standing and in my car at a light and have never had a problem. I even had one policeman ask me where he could get one. You shouldn't worry about vaping with a mod in public.

Where the corn grows tall
I'm new to vaping and was out and about yesterday vaping outdoors and was unlucky enough to run into a member of M.A.E.E. (Mothers Against Everything Enjoyable) who wanted to know (with a sneer) what the heck I was doing. Thinking quick I told her I had asthma and it was my medical vaporizer. Boy, did she get all smiley and apologetic in a hurry. LOL! I don't feel a bit guilty about doing that either.

That doesn't sound good. What a pity it would be if big tobacco wins and squashes this movement.

Big tobacco has no part in this lawsuit or even cares about the outcome. It is the big Pharmaceutical companies that are trying to ban personal vaporizers. They have the most to lose since they make billions on ineffective NRT products. Top management in the FDA have very close ties with the Big Pharm companies. Where do you think former FDA upper management go to work after leaving the FDA? The same is true for American Cancer and Lung Associations. Who do you think are the major funding sources for these non-profits? - Big Pharm. Senator Lautenburg from New Jersey came out last year calling for a ban of all PV's. Why?? Where are the headquarters of two of the largest Big Pharm companies? - New Jersey. Who was the single biggest political contributor to Lautenburg's re-election campain? - Big Pharm. The largest group wanting to crush PV's is Big Pharm, not Big Tobacco.

Better than if Big Pharma gets the nod (as the FDA is fighting for). At least they (BT) won't require years of idiotic scientific lab studies after they're banned. They'll be a harm reduction device/system. True, BT/You & I will have to pay sin taxes on them or the juice, but we vapers are a very resourceful bunch and we'll figure out a way to circumvent that too.
