According to one member on this forum he's already been gifted one, if so I doubt letters are going to make a hill of beans.

All ecigs need now are a couple of high profile people using them and supporting them.

You're welcome to sit in a cloud of classic American defeatism and say it won't matter, but it also isn't going to hurt.

DC is practically attached to Virginia, And Virginia beat the attempted ban. I believe people have actually sent President Obama an E-cig Kit. And I offered it up in an earlier post and someone else said it had already been done. How close it actually came to his hands however, is pure speculation.

You're welcome to use the "search" feature here at EFC to discover that some highly motivated and well connected people have already tried the suggested approach.:)

I've seen that, and seems to me that I've heard the story elsewhere too. I believe it was a Senator who supposedly gave it to the President. But, no hint anywhere that he actually received it. Not a doubt in my mind that he receives 'stuff' as gifts every day which he is never made aware of.

I agree with Mr. Frankenstein about the email campaign. If there were enough, some bit of it might make it through the bubble.

Well since finding out my speculation was apparently late I've found reports that say Obama was given one by Congressman Cliff Stearns... However Cliff is a republican so there might have been concern about it

We're not writing Obama because he cares about you or doesn't care about you. We're writing the President because communication is essential, and while Obama is not the answer, Obama is among the answers.

Doing nothing is absolutely the worst thing to do.
Doing nothing is the worst thing to recommend.

If you look at the White House info. link I posted earlier, communication is very simple, and there is a box to type your message, but it's up to us to write every legislator and every agency, and those who appointed the FDA chief, etc. about the right to the reduced harm electronic alternative. Further details are in the other thread tho.

Republican flavor contamination?

No... just a political trap... you know... take a puff and a naked prostitute jumps out just in time for the midget with the camera hiding behind the flower pot to snap off a few photo.
They then photo shop the e-cig to look like a joint and its the end of his political career... I've seen it hundreds of times...
On The Hill its called "The Trojan Smoke"

Obama did bring up that subject at the dinner table but Michelle nixed the idea and that was the end of that. lol

Didn't a recent politician say something like "one side will use puppies in their arguements and then the other side will start talking about the evils of puppies."

Maybe Obama's enemies should extoll the evils of ecigs therefore Obama and his people will immediately jump on the bandwagon supporting them.

So, the White House has a Facebook page. What if we get as many members here as we can to post on the White House FB page?

I doubt he reads it, but someone in there does, and the public would too.

Thoughts?

It can't hurt.

Obama, right now, is looking to get away from cigarettes. If he keeps hearing about e-cigs he just might look into them and give them a shot. If he likes them, then I can't see how that would be a bad thing.

If he tries them and doesn't like them, at least he will be a bit educated on the subject. He might not be so willing to hate, fear and ban them like others in office who have absolutely no clue on the matter.

And he would feel so much better, and the White House would have cleaner windows and not stink, and his family would be so glad.

heehee:)

Yes, but really, communication is important and I do think quickly expanding awareness and knowledge about the electronic cig. alternative is way so important. Mybe even people in the FDA who smoke, we should send them a complimentary kit.

Okay.... This is a great idea... However we ought to elaborate on it... Posts on FB good for mainstream, But studies NPR (if they really even did a study) Show lower income groups still use MYSPACE, and groups over a certain age use twitter.

So.... we should set up an organized flood... on a certain day we all post on all three medias... we should see if we can get at least 100 participants... Washington math seems to have to idea that 1=1000 So a hundred would be 100K right?

So we need to find some place to put a sign up list... each person who signs up need to have or create an account for each of the three sites.

So.... we should set up an organized flood...

I actually would be against that.

If 100 people all post on one day we make a bit statement but after 30 days it falls off and no one sees it.

I think much more effective is getting 100 people to post over 100 days - one person and one post a day. That keeps it current.
