I discovered today that the glass on my OBS Engine has a crack in it. How that happened I do not know. I haven't dropped it and I never have anything else in my pocket when I carry it . So I decide to take it apart to replace the glass. I can get the deck off just fine but the top part will not budge. I have even used gloves with rubber ridges for grip and it is like it is welded on.

Any suggestions on how I can get this thing apart. It is my very favorite tank.

I finally got it apart. I put on a pair of rubber gloves that I usually use when I am putting nicotine in my diy juices. The gloves gave me just enough extra grip to get the tank apart. So now I have a brand new replacement glass on the Engine. I just hope this one stays intact. Strangely, the crack originated at the top of the glass right at the o-ring. It looks like it was caused by an impact, but it has never been dropped. I guess it will remain an unsolved mystery.

Maybe the top part was put on too tight at the factory and the stress finally did it in. Just a guess.

...

That's what I figured - too tight from the manufacturer, that or maybe the tank had a tiny chip on the edge that finally gave out.

Either way, glad the OP got it apart without shredding his hands on broken glass.
