With just about every tank I get, I have to try all different size wire, coil size and wick until I find the best flavor. It's part of the fun with vaping. I'm finding that this Engine Nano makes it so easy to do. I still say that this is the best tank ever.

I don't think thats the problem. I think this top air flow system is Flawed!
The way it's set up the air is suppose to hit the side of the coil, IMO this is were the flaw is.
When your drawing on it, I would say a good percentage of the air is just being drawn back up in a circle & not even hitting the coil. For this kind of air flow system to work better the air needs to be directed all the way down under the coil so that 100% of the air comming in is hitting the coil & not just going in a circle.
I'm no atty designer But if you think about what I'm saying you will see, I'm right!
I have to disagree but you can have your own opinion with these.

I find that having the air attack the coil from both sides slightly under it works great. I'm finding it's very important where you place the coil in these fit optimum flavor and I'm getting it with my 2. I just love the tanks.

I'm sorry yours is not working for you. It's just the way vaping is. It works for some but not for all.

Rick(and anyone else) can you put up pictures of your current build so I can try to mimic it a bit? I'd like to get an example of what's working for others.Thank you!

Well I just rolled up a 4mm .24g 316L coil, kept the outside edge pretty much at the edge of the deck, should be pretty close to hugging the wall, top edge is about even with the posts, and should put it in good placement for the main airflow. Removed my silicon plug from the rear air, turbulence is much less, flavor is much better as is Density. Judging by the feel I may need to move the coil very slightly inward next time.
Big improvement for mine running the .5 build at about 50 watts it is much better then my previous builds. Will have to play a bit more but most of the issues I mentioned previously are pretty much gone. Probably room enough for a 4.5mm coil, maybe even 5mm, though not sure it would be better going that large.

Ya way to airy, I have the AFC all most closed & still can't get the air right.
I'm wondering what the point of top air flow is? The Air has to come down the chiming hit the side of the coil & then all the way back up. How could this possibly be better than the air coming up from under the coil?
What I posted is just my opinion! If you like yours, thats great!

The top air is why it can't/doesn't leak. No air holes in the bottom deck to ever let juice out. I do not have a nano single coil version (yet) so I really can't comment at all on the particular airflow pattern in it. On the dual coil version, the air is essentially straight down onto the coils. No idea how the differences would effect performance.

Any RTA/tank will give different experiences to users. to me there are two factors. The first is the mechanics. Does it all fit together properly? Is it straightforward to build and wick? Will it leak in my pocket? I do think the Engine scores on all those points.

The second is obviously performance. It doesn't matter if it's the most perfectly built, submarine tight tank if you don't like the vape. This is where it all gets subjective. I've found the dual coil Engine to be an absolute winner. I'm looking forward to trying the single coil version for comparison. But as with everything, some will like one tank/design better than another. There are other well respected RTAs out there that are loved and adored which I've stuck in the back of the drawer. Hope you can get it work consistently well, as it's always a shame when a purchase doesn't work out.

I agree on some of your points. There are many tanks that wicked properly don't leak.
I never tried the dual coil engine cause I have a favourite dual coil tank. For me the Supremes in dual coil mode can't be beat! I have all three variants & their the top of the heap for Dual coil tanks for me :)
I am how ever still trying different single coil tanks, My top 3 favourites are the Rose V3,Squape X Dream & the K-F V5. All Excellent single coil tanks that don't leak, for me any way.
I'm no noob & I'v tried every thing in this Engine, I mean every thing Big coils, small coils every position I could move them in. My best results were with a 4mm+ coil moved all the way up to the top of the chamber so as to get the air flow as close to the bottom of the coil as posable.
I still get to much air weak vapor & flavour :( IMO I don't like this tank at all!

There will always be RTA/RBA's that won't work for some... There is always another one out there. Everyone has different tastes, different opinions and different ways to vape... Vaping is Fun, enjoy what works for you!

I'm going to try a 4mm coil today. Lets make it with 28g SS for the first one. Should be interesting...

Well, here's what I have found regarding thin, weak vapor production.
I have the original Engine dual coil, great tank.
I bought two of these based on that experience.
At first, it seemed great. Then I recoiled and wick. Started getting thin weak vapor.
Plus, the resistance was varying wildly, like from .74 (what it should be) to .65 and as high as .88
Not good. I pulled the coil on both tanks, built new ones and wrote down what my coil master 521 said. My DNAs agreed and I filled and tried. Weak vapor again. Ok, crank the temp higher, better, more temp. I finally landed at 475F for a good vape.
So, today, I dropped the Temco 316L I had used and went back to the NiFe52 I normally vape.
7/6 wraps, 3.5mm ID, 6mm cotton for the wick, 415F at 60W with a 70W preheat. Vaping great again.
Three differences here. I moved the coil down a bit, used a different metal, wicked it with slightly smaller cotton (6mm vs 7mm).
Today's setup is the setup I had when it worked well. Well, except the slightly lower coil.
My lesson is that if something works great, don't screw with it for no apparent reason. It kind of baffled me after my initial experience. I mean, these tanks went to Florida for a few days right after I got them. Vaped a treat. Then, coil and 'hey where did the vapor go?'
For me, this corrected a huge issue. One of my own making. What difference 316L made I have no idea, lots of people use it. On my tanks and several mods, it wasn't producing vapor for me.
Pics attached of working setup for your entertainment.

I have my wick ends hitting the bottom. It sucks up every drop. Whenever I take the base off for whatever reason, there is always a puddle sitting in it. Surprisingly always clean liquid. Not darkened like I expected.

I got my Nano in today
first I put a 2.5mm clapton at .6ohms flavor was just ok vapor was great
then i switched to a 26ga 2.5mm single Kanthal at .72 ohms the flavor has jumped out at me

both coils were about 1 to 1.5mm below the tops of the posts and even between the juice holes
my cotton is just barely touching the bottoms of the juice holes and thinned out on the tips
so far flavor is good and no dry hits or leaks
im thinking the air flow is hitting very near the bottoms of my coils
i also made sure the large air hole in the tank is facing the coils and the small hole is at the back

The setup relative to air slots sounds like how I run my NaRDAs, which have been consistently excellent.

I'm looking forward to getting my Nano in. It left China about 6 days ago so I hope to see the USPS cleared customs message any day now [emoji5]

Hohm Wrecker should update their box to fit 24-25mm attys (please) even this Nano will overhang...and virtually all of my RDTAs and newer tanks.

i have a boreas on one (barely noticeable overhang) and a goon clone (no overhang).
