Could also be that this tank isn't for you. I found it average at best.
@MMW You mean me? You're right, it really isn't a tank for me. :pervy:
I took one final kick at the cat this morning with a 4.5mm twisted 26g, 6 wrap build. I'll burn a tank through it and see how it works out. :D

It's unfair of me to comment on this particular tank as I don't have it, but if in fact performance isn't as good as I get on a dual coil Engine, it might just be the design. And as @MMW points out, not every tank works for every vaper.
What are you saying @Eskie? One has to conquer and master ALL tanks! :w00t:

Yeah, it sucks when everyone else is raving about it and it's just not working out. I went through that with the Boreas. Everyone swore it was an amazing tank. For me it was barely mediocre.

You bite your tongue! :D
One of my favorites!

Yep, everyone's tastes are diverse. I personally love that fact.

I don't know what other people thought of it but I still use a crius in my rotation and it works great. I do have an exo tank on the way if customs ever releases it. I'm seriously thinking about getting out one of the spare merlin tanks that I haven't tried yet.

Oh, I have a Crius+ I love. It's part of my daily rotation. I missed out on outrageously good sale on them several weeks ago and I'm still kicking myself for not adding a few at something like $5 a tank. Worth it for replacement parts alone. And the Merlin still does awfully well at holding its own for flavor. I don't know why I was was one of the non-leaking blessed ones, but it is a great tank.

I have cheated on my RTAs a little though. I got an AL85, and had to get it with the tank kit. I was able to get my Alien without so I never tried that Baby Beast before. I figured I had it, I'd try it. it's actually a good little tank. Enough to make me get the BBB as the small volume was disappearing in no time. The factory Smok coils are surprisingly good at flavor which I didn't expect. The BBB did come with an RBA so I can't see myself on some sort of massive coil stockpile for it, but for something a little different it's been a fun run with it.

I think part of the reason why everyone else is having a good experience with it and we are struggling is because they are using fused claptons and other fancy coils. I keep trying to copy what they are doing, but I only have 26ga ss316l right now. So I'm trying with twisted wire and it's just not cutting it. I'm looking for a little bit more flavor, and my current builds aren't giving it to me. I want to order more wire, but just can't at the moment. I love the tank, and I know it can do what I'm looking for, but variables haven't fallen in to place. So instead I'm using the last of my stock coils on my big baby beast. That's really all the flavor I'm looking for.

What is the BBB? I won a TFV12 on the giveaway contest but haven't gotten it yet. I've been looking at the predator 228 for a while and finally ordered one today.

Big Baby Beast. That TFV12 should be a monster in comparison. The one thing that is nice on the BBB, other than the included RBA, is the coils are less expensive than those monsters they offer for the TFV12. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Should be perfect on the Predator. I have an Alien and said I would pass on the Predator, but I'll admit I'm tempted. Folks have been posting some pretty favorable feedback on it.

I have 2 Crius + and the EXO RTA as daily drivers. The Crius+'s run dual simple Claptons and the EXO has a single staple staggered fused Clapton in it. One of the cheap Demon Killer Violence coil collection from FT, nice tin and a triwing screwdriver to boot. :D
$4.95 Demon Killer Staple Staggered Fused Clapton Pre-Coiled Wire for RBA Atomizer (10-Pack) - 0.3ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

    The Tsuka's are nice too!

I had the Fused Clapton's, single Clapton's, Alien's and all sorts mounted in the nano, even a nice 22g build... I think you will struggle forever trying to get a flavor/vapor build similar to the BBB. The Engine nano doesn't even come close to the Ammit or EXO RTA (Single Coil) for me. This last build of 4.5mm twisted 26g has been the most acceptable vape so far. I have run two tanks through it now and if the nano wasn't going to get boxed back up, that is the build that would stay in it.

I have tanks that provide much better performance and flavor with no hassle or tweaking required. I love the looks and the functionality of the nano, it's just mediocre when it comes to the vape.

Here's some things I've discovered that may help some of you. I've seen a few people in this thread mention they get better flavor with a 2mm coil. I was using a 3mm coil and getting amazing flavor so I figured I'd try for more if possible. For me, using a 2mm coil gave me about 20% of the flavor I was getting with the 3mm. It was unvapeable imo.

But I think I know why some of you are getting better flavor. When you use a 2mm coil your wick is smaller and from my experience you need very little wick at the ends for the nano to wick properly. I trim the tails into the shape of a diamond from all sides. Put the pointed part in/on the wick holes and I'm in vape heaven.

Make sure you raise your coil to line up with the top posts. When I didn't do this the flavor was okay but noticeably muted. I've also tried rayon which is far easier to wick than cotton but the flavor just doesn't compare. Hopefully this helps.

The thing that irks me about this tank is when I used a bigger (3-4mm) id I got the flavor I wanted, but the wicking has been off. I'm still in the works trying to get that happy middle ground. I wanted to get the exo, and still might, but when I saw the Nano something said "yes! Buy that one!" Now I'm kinda determined to make this one work better. I'm definitely going to try cutting the wicks as suggested. I just want to say thanks to everyone for trying so hard to help. This is the first forum I've ever really been a part of, and it's been great. No real facetious comments like I've read in so many other forums. You guys rock!

We can do facetious too. There are a bunch of us really good at it.:D

I'm surprised by the higher percentage of varying results with the nano than the dual coil versions. I can only assume it has to do with the airflow pattern, which I know they changed for single coil, but I figured they would change for the better.

I've been using twisted 26 kanthal 2.5mm ID pretty much all the time since last July, in the Avocado 24, Ammit, Nano, NaRDA, and Hadaly. 5 wraps, spaced, somewhere right around 0.5 ohms (+/- 1/2 wrap depending on post layout). I vape around 24W, have gotten solid performance (I'm a flavor junkie) on all of them.

I have no doubt of the ability to be facetious, but you aren't doing it to be a troll, I appreciate that! Lol

I used the Daedalus coil maker. But you can do it freehand as you know by the by the vids u posted lol.
I just buy them premade, can get them cheaper and easier than if I was to make them, unless I want something special like 430 core NiFe52 clapton, then I build it, but mostly it's an unnecessary pita that I can't be bothered with.

I set my nano to the side and got out an unused Merlin to test my theory of not mixing my liquid correctly. I'm not getting the flavor from my diy lemonade that I'm used to in the Merlin either. I'm going to dump what's left of the bottle and mix a new batch. Then I'll empty and refill both to compare. I know I always got great flavor from the Merlin and then can do I side by side comparison to get a better feel for how the nano performs. Thanks for the tips on coil placement and wick trimming ubernoob.

Actually something weird I've been using clapton for the last week or so as an experiment, and my throat is killing me, my regular is 430 round which is nice and smooth but I've been using 316L claptons.

    Anyone else had this happening?
