You Da Man Super X, the Odin didn't like my 26 ga. so I switched to 29 and this baby is ROCKIN'. Should have listened to you in the first place. Thanks

Yeah it's funny, my 26 gauge dual coil .5 build was just ok, so I re-did it in 28 gauge and it's much, much better. Which just doesn't make sense to me, but I'll take it.

Yeah i started with a dual 28g at .05 ohms and the performance was off the charts but i noticed it is quite the juice hog. Going through almost twice as much juice as my cyclone. Just did a single 28g wrap at .08 ohms and although not as good as dual still a better vape than my best vape day on my cyclone. The Odin rocks! :vapor:

.5 or .05? .8 or .08. Just checking. :)

I haven't used 28G in over a year as I got tired of torching it, so I moved to 24 and 26.

What was better about the 28G 0.5 ohm build vs the 26G 0.5 ohm build? More surface area on the 28/29 builds?

T, you don't have to torch any wire. I gave it up once I started to wind with tension rather than wrap a piece of wire around something.

Have you tried the coil jig yet?

How bout this method:

Once you nail a coil with either of those methods you can use your torch to tan marshmallow tops for indoor s'mores bro :)

29 ga heats up quick, is easier to work with than 30, is great for two 1 ohm coils 6 wraps each netting .50 ohms and isn't prone to loosening post screws like heavier ga wires.

I have a darkzero jig and this as well Easy-Coil - Coil Winding Jig

I've used both with untorched 28G and it still just felt a little springy, but maybe I didn't use enough tension....going with a 1/16 ID?

Yep! 1/16" should work well and the heat up time is very quick - immediate :)

Coil Toy - Online calculator for e-cigarette resistance coil building

HEAT CAPACITY
This value corresponds to the thermal energy absorbed by the coil before it reaches the temperature required for e-liquid to start vaporizing. Higher values require more wattage to avoid slow response. Typical 5-7W systems use coils below 10 mJ/K-1.

1ohm coil using 28 gauge Heat capacity = 16 mJ/K-1
1ohm coil using 26 gauge Heat capacity = 40 mJ/K-1

Very nice calculator. Bookmarked it.

28 gauge has half the surface area per ohm of resistance compared to 26 gauge, so that might be the difference. If the ohms of the 26 gauge and 28 gauge coils were similar, then you would have the same power (heat) in half the surface area of wire, so likely run hotter on the wick. Might have been too cool before.

Now I'm curious. I guess I'll have to break one of mine down, and rebuild with 28g, just to see what happens. I have 26g dual coils on both of mine, .5ohms, and they're working very well.

i'm tempted, largely thanks to sup's recommendations. on the other hand, sup said it sucked at single coil, and i don't wanna try the twin rabbit-holes of dual coils and lung hits, just yet.

I run mine with single parallel at . 4-.5 & it's fine. I've always been more single coil gal, then double. It was made for single coils, all preference I guess. I've yet to run a double but, parallel is in a way a double.. IMO lol
