Sounds good. I probably watched his videos at least a dozen times to prep for my Ody. Don't look hard, just worried a little about making my coils/wick. Some people have seemed to master it and some still having problems...

Just take your time. It's more important to do it right than to do it fast. Just remember that every time you find a way to do it wrong, you are just one more step closer to doing it right :)

It was easy because of Imeos and igetchas videos. The hard part for me is getting the right ohms.

If you have a multi-meter, go to radioshack and buy some tiny aligator clips that attach to the end of your leads. Twist your first NR wire to your nr wire, then attach your black lead (-) to the NR wire and your red lead (+) somewhere along the R wire. Your multimeter will detect the resistance of the space between wherever you put the aligator clip and where the R and NR wire meet, so just add however much space you'll need to attach the 2nd NR wire and your final coil's resistance should be pretty close to what you metered it at! Good luck :)

Reading all these Ody leaking problems makes me scared to try out the Ody...

But on the other hand, I can't wait to receive mine and try it out:2cool:

No way! You will love it. I'm sure of it. As someone who has had the occasional leak (and 'tappears I wasn't tightening the bolt enough over the ceramic), it has never been anywhere near enough to make me regret for an instant having it. I'd also say making coils and assembling is pretty easy... much easier than I'd expected it to be and the outcome is ineffably awesome on so many levels... adaptability, durability, consistency (which I never came close to with atties/cartos) - and let us not forget flavor and vapor. The Ody is just amazing...

I occasionally step back and get a little concerned that people will read the forum and pass over the positives and focus on the fix-its. But, you also have to realize that it's the forum and it's where people come to work things out. So, you hear more about issues than about contentment. Personally, I could come on and post nearly every day and say, "My Ody was perfectly amazing today," but that wouldn't add much and would annoy everyone eventually. This is also where people post their new discoveries, etc. All of it can make the Odysseus sound more complicated than it is... simply because you have a group of people here who are enthusiastic about it and about discussing all of the ins and outs, etc. And then you have the hyper-perfectionist overseeing all of the issues and eager to address everything (which I think is awesome, too) and it actually makes it seem like a legit "issue." I honestly think the leakage issue has gotten more significant air time than it deserves because it's like... the ONLY problem anyone can cite, even if it's minor, uncommon, or easily fixable. I used to frequent a bodybuilding forum and this reminds me of that in that you have people fixating on that last little percentage of pre-comp body fat or getting perfect symmetry, etc. At a certain point, you've got it pretty good and you're just focusing on the details.

Amen and +10000 on this post. He is exactly right. Most people are not going to come on and coment every day about how well their device is working. Also Very few of us (even those that have minor leaks like me) would be willing to part with our Ody for any reasonable abount of money (Ok I can't lie if you offered me 10000 bucks I wouldn't say no but I wouldn't sell mine for even double what I paid and I am an extremely deal oriented person). Yes I have minor leaks but I know 100% it is a user issue. I have tested it multiple times with the juice closed sitting on a tissue over night and not a drop of leakage however in both small and large modes because of the way I vape and the fact I like a slightly more wet hit I do tend to get some leakage through the center post and this is caused by me leaving the juice controll open to much. I have also found that through trial and error that when my big mode tank gets below about half full if I forget to close the juice controll some this small leakage is a bit more pronounced. Even with all that said except the first 2 days I had big mode it never leaked out of the collector tank which is exactly what the collector tank was designed for so I am perfectly happy with this setup.

Well put Fright, couldn't agree more! The leakage is purely a result of user error, and once remedied, Odysseus' performance outdoes just about everything else out there. I didn't experience many leaks outside of my first big mode fill, but I've shelved it for drip mode (more my style).

I watched Imeo's video on running the ground wire down the channel and into the base as opposed to running the wire down the channel and under the upper connection nut. I'm going to give this a try in the AM when I get Ody ready to take to work. I can see where that could prevent leaking.

Has anyone who has had leaking issues tried this yet?

I do my big mode the way Imeo showed, I never had a leak it works great.

Same as CaptSteve - I have used this method for the ground wire and zero leakage. I ran a tank full on the original base and am now more than halfway through a second tank using the GGTS base. While I am not as technically inclined as many of you, one thing I picked up from 27 years in Law Enforcement was looking for patterns.

Obviously I can only go by what is typed but I think clearing this second tank and further on the GGTS base is important. Most of the folks reporting leaks are with the GGTS base. I also have a poser out regards using the original ceramic versus the new ceramics. It's all purely hypothetical at the present but like the GGTS base, I am thinking we are seeing more people using the new ceramics reporting in.

I still am solidly in the belief that it is user error or maybe more properly worded, user technique or methodology. Bring the revolver Watson! The case is afoot!

I justed emptied my first tank using the new GGTS base and had no leakage at all. I had leakage with the 510 base sometimes. Usually everything started fine and I didn't find out the exact reason for my leakages but I have a hot suspect. Sometims leakage was related to me starting to tune the air-draw with the AC-Ring. I think that the GGTS telescope screwed harder while I moved the AC and so the connector was giving more pressure to the Ody connector. Maybe this tightened the lower O-Ring. But I still wonder why this should be a reason for liquid to come down to the bottom part of Odysseus anyways so its still a mystery...

But well, so far everything is fine with the new GGTS base :)

Thanks Steve. I tried doing this this morning. I was using XC-116 wick and out of habit put the wire under the wick. Was in a hurry to get ready for work so I went the old route and locked the wire with the top connection nut and went small mode. I'll have to try it tonight.

I believe I just need to remember to lay the wire ON TOP of the wick when I assemble it. I'll need to watch the video again because I cannot remember how long Imeo had the wire.

I do wonder though about the wire getting caught in the threads and locking things up.

1 strand 2mm wick plus 1 strand 1mm wick. used in this setup. but doubling stock ody wick (2x2mm) can be done with a little difficulty. ideally you want 3mm width of wick through the channels.

its no real difference from Imeo's latest instructions but securer connection, for reference i used NR that shipped with oddy. which when trapped under the top connection nut can cause a slight leak in big mode on both bases in my exp.

for further refence this is different to my usual setup as i usually use soft silver and experience no leaking when trapped under the top connection nut because the silver gets crushed. but because some users are experiencing leaks i defered back for experimenting. and as so have had no issue in the slightest in 4 tanks full, i'm currently half way through the 5th. so we're talking 30+ml

wrap NR around the wick a few turns approx 3-4mm from the end of the ceramic
dsc01773a.jpg

Push wick and wire into the channel
dsc01774ae.jpg

should look like this after a few turns into the base
dsc01775aq.jpg

Screw the housing to where it need to be for connection with your mod
dsc01778a.jpg

the coil of NR wire should of by now dissapeared into the base
dsc01778a.jpg

make sure you still tighten the knurled connection nut tight as you can, which is purely used for securing the housing now.
on my next build i will be trying this out with a single strand of stock ody wick and report further.
