Thanks to Repent, I received his well-maintained SS Stealth that I got from him. Made me motivated to polish my very own.. Here she is, SSGGTS#639 in shorty mode.

I have a problem and I'm hoping that I can find a solution to it...

I'm getting leaks down the 510 connection portion of my Ody when I'm using the Expansion set but when I made my coil in short mode, I never had any leaks (albeit, I had dry hits). In big mode, it usually leaks when I put liquid into the tank and the funny thing is, it leaks even though I tighten the mouthpiece as tight as possible. All of the parts are threaded and put in correctly when I put the liquid in and yet, it leaks.

I'm also getting dry hits all the time. I asked on the forum a while back and they said I might have wrapped it too tightly. Now I make sure that the wire isn't too tight.
Some more info:
I'm using the stock resistance wire and stock NR wire. Using about 3 cm of the resistance wire and more than enough NR wire. When I wrap the wire around the wick, I'm getting about 2 full wraps. Unfortunately, I don't have a voltmeter so I can't tell you guys the Ohms of my creations. Of course I open up the liquid control when I feel that I am getting a dry hit but if I open it a little too much, it starts leaking.

Sorry for the info overload but I'm hoping that someone can help me!
I'll also upload pics when I make a new coil.

Thank you everyone!

Have you assembled your Ody with all the o-rings correctly? I suspect o-ring #14 as per Zoranth's diagram in the link. Make sure the center post in the ceramic assembly is tight. Hope this helps

@ CaptSteve - I made sure I put that little bugger in securely when I torched my ceramic. When I used the Ody in Short Mode, I didn't have any leaks. Just more dry hits than I should be having.

@ Oddy - Hrm.. It might be that my wick was cut too short.. I'll have to look into it on my next coil.

Thanks for your help guys! :]

Have you watched the latest video from Imeo? It might provide you with some tips you haven't tried as yet.

Wish I could help more. The only thing I would do is start again, dismantle everything wash the parts, lube them and take it step by step and re-assemble as per the video paying attention to tighten parts where Imeo suggests. The other thing I'd like to ask you is you mentioned the 510 connection, do you have a GGTS to try fitting it with the GGTS base instead of the normal 510 base.

Steve
@EsxPaul - I did and I made sure to double check everything that Imeo said to check. That's why I'm perplexed. @_@;;

Are you using the same doubled up wick and placing it down the ceramic channels along with terminating the negative side of the coil in the same exact way as Imeo does?

Just making sure you have everything covered and not suggesting you are doing anything wrong :)

The Ody will work with any coil you decide to use, but they all have different characteristics.

When you use 32 ga coil at 1.5 ohm, the coil is at least an inch long, and the wire is thick. The coil will cover more wick, but heat-up slower, the larger the wire, the longer it takes to heat-up. Throat-hit will seem to be a little lighter.

34 ga @ 1.5 ohms will be around 1/2 inch long, covers less wick, heats up faster, better throat hit.

36 ga @ 1.5 ohms will be about 1/4 inch long, barely stretches across the Ody opening, covers even less wick (tip: wrap the wick around the coil instead), heats up very fast, very nice throat hit. BUT, the coil burns out pretty quickly. I like this coil but its prone to popping at any time.

Changing the coil ga diameter has instant results with the Ody or the iAtty.

@ CaptSteve - Thank you for your help! :D I unfortunately only have a Stealth right now so the 510 connection is the only one I'm able to use.

@ EsxPaul - I'm making the coil as Imeo does in the first set of videos he's released. I haven't had much time to experiment (I'm in a nursing program so I'm studying all the time) and just make the coil as I first learned it.

@ Poppa D - I'll make sure to take a note of the gauges of wire and Ohms they produce. Do you happen to know what gauge the stock wire is?

It's hard to find the time to keep up with everything, especially when you have so much of your time taken up with all that study. If my memory serves me correctly, I think imeo has gone through a few evoloutions regarding the way he makes up his Ody coils so it may pay you to go through them when time allows, of course.

Good luck with it and I'm sure you will get it sorted eventually, what with so many experienced Ody users here to offer advice.

Hey all.... haven't been on for a while.
I'm curious, does the Ody take a 306 exposed bridge atty or just the 510/E2?

It won't take a naked 306, no. You could fairly easily mod a workaround, maybe press an empty atty tube onto it or a cut down 306 drip tip (I haven't tried so I'm not sure if a short 306 drip tip would fit or not)

I believe its 34 ga.
