if its the same as what COV has now, its 36. i still have some of the stock wire and it looks like the same size as the 36 gauge i got on ebay
i could be wrong, I dont have a metric caliper to measure with so I metered mine, it ohm'd out similar to 34 ga. I know Imeo posted the diameter early on in this thread if you want the absolute right answer.
I think I know what you mean. Personally, I don't really like a brand new coil much for at least a few hours and up to a full day... I find that it takes a little bit of time for the coil to break in and for the flavor to fully start coming through. I make a new coil once a week on average and starting the second day up to the sixth day is when it's at its prime. YMMV based on what kind of juice you use and at which voltage you vape. So, ive started out in short mode with the stock wick and wire. I flamed the ceramic and built a ~2 ohm coil with the original style long and short 2 layer wick method as shown in Scott Bonner's video tutorial.
My results are mixed at the moment. I'm getting a good volume of vapor, but i am finding the flavor to be worse than the flavor i can get from a run of the mill 2 ohm 510 hybrid. I dont quite know how to describe it. It isn't soapy, and it isn't a dry burn acrolien flavor. Its just... Nuttier and lacking the sweetness that i normally get from this particular juice.
The juice is canadian full flavor, which is 70%pg. Its a sweet tobacco that is like a ry4 with overtones of cherry and rose. Kind of like vaping a turkish delight, when experienced in a 510 atty...
Any tips or revalations for setups that optimize flavor?
I've had the best results with 36 for lr coils (.9 dual coil, 1.3-2), 34g for higher resistance coils (2.2-3), and 32g for 7.4v coils (3-4.2ish). 36 is always solid though. Heats up quickly and can get lots of wraps in.
R.D.Sponge's suggestion to twist together 36 and 34 works great for lowwww resistance coils btw, as well as medium resistance coils with lots of wraps. I managed to squeeze 7 wraps of it into a ceramic for 2.3ohms for use at 6v and it's CHUGGING vapor right now.

Wow, glad you got that figured out! Good thing it was on an Ody, I did the same w/ an iAtty once by mistake..until i tasted the melting plastic..I actually discovered the cause of my flavor ills this morning. The fellow who shipped me the ody accidentally shipped me two spools of kanthal instead of one kanthal and one silver.
My coil was about 5 ohms lol.
I have some silver plated copper wite at work so i wound up using that and the flavor is excellent now.
Glad you got yourself sorted outHas anyone tried PFTE insulated wire wrapping wire?
It's rated for 200 degrees Celsius and comes in 34awg, 32awg, 30awg, etc., silver plated copper.
Might make for a safer Ody experience by eliminating the potential for shorting.
