i have a 510 base from a v1, in perfect condition. i need a v2 ceramic housing, any ideas where i could find one, i guess maybe the old stock order imeo is about to start up, id trade if you had and extra

I wish I had an extra ceramic housing for you, I got mine from E-Smoke Guru. The V1 510 base is nice but doesnt have the air channels and has that little ledge that keeps it from fitting flush on top of my PV.

I made a different pin for the GGTS. This link is to an earlier effort some time ago. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5313218 Shorter TS w/Ody
I continued to look for a better way to do this short center pin and had break through about a year ago, which I didn't post, it didn't seem to interest to many people. Here is what it looks like.
devypenu.jpg

ujesypy7.jpg

This is what I used, a #10 x 3/4 copper rivet and a "00" 1/2" faucet washer.
tupy8u3a.jpg

I put them together in the same package for this post.
Since I use mine with my Ody i cut the rivet stem off by inserting it through the washer and cut it off flush with the washer. I hit it with a hammer to spread it out until its snug in the washer. Since its a copper rivet it spreads out evenly. Then I polish it.
With the washer. I score the edge with a blade so that it stays tight in the center hole of the GGTS CT and press it in with my fingers. Insert the rivet center pin and done.
As long as every thing is snug its leak proof, it doesn't have to be overly tight.

This shortens a GGTS by close to an inch, and the JGG by a 1/2" or so.

I hope you like it and please give it a try.

GREAT POST!!

do you remember where you got the washer pin combo? im coming up empty on web searches.

thanks again for the great post!

Just wanted to update my situation with the 510 base I got back. Imeo and Vassilis were very kind to take the time in trying to find a fix for it. I got the base back with a smaller o-ring which helped in being able to get the rebuildable unit to screw in lower to make contact with the connection on my PV.

The problem that is still occurs is when I have to remove the rebuildable unit. It is very hard to take it off, and again I have to shred my fingers and resort to using a screwdriver to loosen it. Unfortunately , having to do this results in my positive wire snapping off because the while center pin comes undone too.

I dont know what to say, I cant and wont use it. Not worth the frustration. I know It was tested by both Imeo and Vassilis, I guess I just dont have the strength to do it. I have my sons try and they are 6 feet and big boys and they have trouble. I guess Imeo from working so hard with his hands has a vice grip hand.

There is something in the manufacturing of these last 3 bases I got that is off enough to make it very hard to use. Like I said, I have 4 others, and no problems, I have 6 rebuildable units and they all have problems with this one base.

Again, I just wanted to update, not cause problems. I appreciate all that has been done to find a fix, but it is what it is.

DId I mention how much I love my Odysseus? Its only natural that there would be one "bad egg" in the bunch.

ana, all Odusseus had the same issue. When you unscrew the rebuildable part of the base, the o-ring will draw away the nut that keeps positive wire and it will unscrew it. But its very difficult for 2 bolts to get unscrewed together (rebuildable part and nut for positive wire), thats why you cant do it alone and you need the help of your sons.

You tell me that you never had this issue with older bases? Enough people had it from time to time, thats why I changed the design on Ithaka

I do not remember if I tried it in the Odysseus, but mayble a very small stainless steel washer in the Odysseus center post and the little o-ring could help, first put the small washer on the center post and then the o-ring.

The only think with this is that the center post will not protrude much, anyway, I have to experiment again to confirm if it works.

Does it happens even when the rebuildable part is not tighten very hard?

Im not sure exactly what you mean my not tightened very hard. I use my hand or a delicate jewelry wrench to tighten things down with out doing it so hard that I cant undo things or to break the ceramic. It goes in easy, with the last turn to make sure the center pin protrudes at least 1mm past the end of the 510 connector, that last mm is hard to turn. WIth the standard oring for Ody at the bottom of ceramic housing it would not go in for the last 4mm.

Like I said, I appreciate the help, Im sure I could start experimenting with orings to find the right fit eventually but Its not worth the worry and the search. I already bought a hundred each of the basic orings Ody needs, for me it was hard enough, im horrible with oring size interpretation.

If this was my only Ody, I might of either made it work, or given up on it and given it away. I dont like to tinker and make things work that should work as is, out of the box. I expect heavy duty fixes on cheap atomizers that cost 40 or 50 but an antomizer in the 100 plus, should work without "fixes" I actually paid 250 for my first Ody, with only an extra ceramic. At that time they were rare in the resale market and people asked what they wanted.

Now there are clones, The terminator being extremely well made and with eyes closed you cant tell the difference. The build quality is different, Term might last a couple years, but Ody will survive a nuclear blast.

ANyway, unless someone wants this base to play or mod in a machine shop, it will need to go. I dont want it getting confused with my good ones. It happened yesterday and I shredded my fingers and my wrist is spazing out and Im in a lot of pain.

I thank you again, but too much effort has been spent on "getting " it to work already. I dont need it, I can do with the four I have.

This is old school. Iatty and ody. Old school. It's like trying to compare a 60s mustang to what they call one today. You upgrade some performance, change out the carburetor to fuel inject, stick a computer chip in to track it all. Some "features" are cool. But I'll take that 60s mustang over today if I could.

+1

My Ithakas need brothers.

We need iAttys and Odys rereleased Imeo.

Ana there is a great fix for this issue and it's dead simple. Lube well that bottom o-ring with Vaseline and you'll find it's a breeze to unscrew without the center pin coming loose. I had the same problem
Trust me try it

I appreciate the fixes , but I tried that. Its. no longer in my possesion.

So thank you, Like I said all my other Odys so this one piece is just bad, Is it so hard to belive that in the thousands of parts that some can be off? I got one twisted and dented base and it came that way, it was not in my head and i have better things to do than dent it myself to cause problems. 2 were not finished as perfect and off? Unlucky yes, liar or upstart NO

I love Odysseus maybe because I dont chose to be GG exclusive Im not taken seriously as others. I dont want to get angry, But why is it soooooo hard ro belive that there are mistakes or flaws associated with GG? Afterall humans make them and humans are not flawless.

MY horses are held and grazing calmly in their pastures, no one has told me Im lying but Im feeling that. I keep trying to let this go, but want to share my situation and conclusion, but it seems like no one else can let it go either, do this, get another oring, change that, this and the other.......

I , me, can not get it to work with all the suggestions. So if no one can just let it go that it can be defective than lets leave it at that. I did say, thank you for all your help, suggestions, but trying to get a 25 dollar piece after all the suggestions that have been posted, PMd , etc, Than Im either one, lying, or , trying to start something, lame or crazy? What other conclusion is there? If the item was tested both by Imeo and Vassils than whats left is the above, at least that is what people who read would have to conclude.

Theres just too much things in my life going on to spend more time on a part that I dont really "NEED" I have my others and they work and look perfect.

AGAIn, thank you , and IM NOT angry, at least I wasnt. I LOVE MY ODDYS, always have , always will. The help and tips here are the best, but this time, I could not be "fixed"

I will lay low and in the future I have problems with GG related items I will continue to ask for help.

Yes, edited that last sentence because after reading it , I did sound like a pouty jerk:)
