Speaking of ohm testers; I had a compartmented box FULL of atomizers all sorted by resistance and knocked the damn thing off the table. It is such times as this when a auto-tester comes in handy; I can't imagine how long it would take to probe each one. lol

25 ft is 30$ so its not horrible . It seems to wick better but does require a torch at minimum and really everyone says a kiln to really shine. Im happy with it

Here is another easy "fix" for those of you who don't like the feel of metal in your mouth. An 801 whistle tips fits smoothly over the ODY mouthpiece and stays on there nice and snug.

Not as pretty but cheap. Carto condom with hole cut out at the top. Perfect set-up for a 1 liner.

Rebuilt it again, this time loosened up the wicks on the ends - even unraveled them so that they'd take up more space. This time, its not flooding at all, even while sitting wide open. The wicking still seems a little stifled. Starts tasting a bit dry after a couple puffs in a row. I'm using 100% VG - perhaps need to look into a different type of wick, Idunno.

OK - with this latest atty build (lucky number seven), all my previous issues are GONE. This thing is friggin KILLING IT. Great flavor, crazy huge plumes of vapor, the weird soapy taste is finally and completely gone, and its even wicking like a champ. Love it. A lot. Might have to kick the wife out of bed tonight to make room for this hot little mama. Okay, that's probably too far, but you get the picture.

I really do think I had the wick too tight on the last one. There is definitely an art to building the atty, and a bit of a learning curve, but man, when you nail it, this little bad boy just KILLS it. Imeo, you're the man.

Huh, both of mine look perfect (from COV) and I know Imeo would not ship these out like this. What I am wondering and or concerned about is the durability of the ceramic as it sits in the assembled Odysseus. Because I am bound to tip this over on my end table fairly often (have already) and it may roll off to the floor etc.. Wondering if you guys that got broken ceramic noticed ceramic dust or pieces inside the device or the packing it was shipped in? Oh well, these items have a lifetime warranty as far as I am aware of and in time we will have access to replacement parts.

Nope, I didn't see any evidence of any dust or debris, mine was just a clean break and one other crack. Still functional as-is, so I'm content to wait for replacement parts to be available.

As far as durability, I think normal wear and tear kind of abuse should be just fine. The ceramic is isolated well enough from the exterior parts (probably by design) that any shock imposed on it will be lessened by the time it reaches that component. Not that I'm about to test that theory


Anyway, I switched to my UFS for a bit while I was giving the parts an alcohol soak, just standard 91% isopropyl. Didn't bother disassembling the rebuildable part, soaked it all together minus the o-rings. Rinsed well with hot water and re-assembled and I'm not noticing any soapy taste anymore

I used a torch for mine. Just take your time to make sure it's done right. While you are torching it, you will see the nextel turn from bright red/orange glow to a white glow. And when you are done, the area you treated will be bright white and it will feel harder while the untreated part of it will will have a gray-ish color to it and feel softer.

Just got the hang of it and everything is working awesome! I was able to get the ceramic out of one of the cups. The other didn't have that bad of a smell/taste. Cleaned the heck out of them with everclear and an ultrasonic cleaner, but soap and hot water seemed more effective. So no more bad taste, wicking is great with Gorilla 100% VG, taste and vapor is good @1.5ohms... All is good.

I don't know if it actually helped or not but when I built this current coil I actually out a second short piece of wick just on top of the long piece and wrapped. I seem to be getting less dry hits this way.

I saw (and I don't recall where ) where a user actually made a small loop with the wick and then wrapped the coil around the flattened loop. I need to find that again as they were raving about the extra wick at the coil diminishing dry hits.

I had not tried it yet but hearing you do basically the same thing sounds like a must try for me even though I haven't had any issue with dry hits. If anyone else can chime in as to their experiences doing the same, it would be interesting to hear.

And while on the topic of wick, what is a good replacement for the stock wick? I am not interested in modding the ceramic just yet until replacements are available. I also am aware that the pure silver NR wire is best but what for the R?

My preferred ohm range is 2.4-2.6 and the R wire that came with the Ody does it fine but I am thinking (dangerous, I know ) that maybe a smaller diameter wire would be better or no?

Thanks in advance guys. And I am having a blast with this thing! It's still tedious for my shaky hands and poor vision but oh my what a vape! I didn't really think anything could give my beloved UFS a run but the Odysseus just took vaping to a new realm for me.

Yeah the loop trick is what gave me the idea. I had done it before with the wickstore wick in my iAtty.

As for replacement wick I have a feeling this stock wick is going to work pretty well for people that don't want to modify for Nextel. it withstands a torch burn to clean which my old e2 iAtty wick didn't neither did the wickstore wick.

As for NR Sterling is the only wire I have found in the us. It also is the truest NR wire you are going to get short of Gold which probably isn't worth the extra cost. However it is a little more tempermental (at least in dead soft form) then the stock Nickel stuff.

However I am not sure which size we got stock I know the iAtty had .236 stock which is between 31 and 30 awg but they only have .2 which is about 32 awg or .345 which is between 27 and 28 awg.

As for resistance wire if I remember right at one poing Rick recommended 2.4 ohms with 36 awg Kanthal at 6v which is what I am vaping now. However if you want lower Ohms I would probably go with 34 awg. If you want to try some 32 let me know and I can send you a couple of yards to play with.

I was vaping some american blend tobacco from mom and pop last night with a new wick and coil. I actually had to set the mod down because I was getting a nic overload and my throat was burning.

Never had that happen from cartos or atties.

This ody vapes like a nuke strike.

Man, I hope the key consumable parts become widely available.

That ceramic cup would not be an easy part to jerry rig something to replace it.

The "loop trick" is adapted from the way I learned to make coils for other atomizers. Too bad the Nextel isn't available over here, it sounds like an interesting alternative to traditional fiber wick. Anyone knows a comparable alternative ceramic wick?

So, are they wrapping the wire coils around a double thickness of wick when you say "looping" the wick?

Much like a clearomizer wick system by then cutting the looped end so there are two strands on each side covering the wires down the ceramic channels?
