Ya know my house isn't hard to spot, it's the one with the plume of vapor coming out of it. My wife took over my GGTS along with a Oddy V2, now I'm using my PAPS with an Ody V2. I finally converted her from the egos.

Well those ego setups were costing too, batteries don't last for nothing and trying to find a decent clearomizer was next to impossible. At least with the GG stuff I only have to buy it once.

Just wanted to share, Tonight I experimented. I got in some 26 gauge kanthal. I cut a 2 inch piece, joined it with 32 gauge nickel. I kept losing the neg leg, so I said heck with it. I read some dont use a neg leg.

I set it up with 2mm ekowool and 2mm short piece across. I got the coils nice and neat, almost micro, but with spaces. I got a nice .8 ohm reading on the meter. WOW, more thick coils and the vapour and taste is amazing.

All this time I was using 32 gauge kanthal with 34 nickel. I was trying to go lower and found the 32 gauge was only giving me a 2/3 wrap. It was good, but more wraps are amazing. I then tried 30 gauge and it gave me a 4/ 5 wrap. Now with the 26g I get a 7/8 wrap.

The Odysseus does get hotter though, is that normal? I do tend to chain vape.

what size wire do you all find works best. I just do simple one coil set ups. Its working just as good as micro coils at lower resistance on other atties. I just love my Odysseus.

ana i learned the hard way that the NR wire should always be thicker or equal to the R wire (only in case of twisting). As for running hotter have you tried .8 ohms with the 32 before? usually .8 ohms will get things hot. For 26 gauge also the heating and cooling off takes time so if you chain vape the wire might stay hot constantly, which is not a bad thing. Well you hit the spot with the wire and ohms. If I want .8 ohms with the diameter you chose 26 gauge would give you the 8 wraps you need. But for me I still haven't gone that thick yet (I have 26 on the way actually) and I go for 28 gauge and make the diameter a bit smaller (1.5mm) to still get 8 wraps but with 1-1.1 ohms.

The thing to remember is, first choose your ohms, choose how many wraps you would like then juggle the diameter and the wire thickness. Is my wicking not keeping up with a thin coil? Enlarge the diameter but go bigger wire. Is my wire taking long to heat up? pick a thinner wire(higher gauge) and make the diameter smaller. Yes we are back to school with all the math and physics and chemistry but this is vaping

I used to use the same diameter wire but noticed the joins would be thicker and I found it harder to get a good twist. With the thick kanthal I dont really need to twist, rather I wrap the nickel in a perfect tight wrap around the thick Kanthal with the slightly thinner nickel. Its almost a perfect solid wrap.

Its getting fun experimenting.

I didn't get how you are twisting or tightening the wrap. Do you have a pic? That might help me in re-using my 32 nickel lying around.

I will take a photo of the next one I do. So far , its working well. Its similar to how micro coils are done , but I take the nickel and wrap it tight around the kanthal and then I go back and wrap it down again.

Its like how people hand tie fishing flies. Ive been told I do such good neat joins that I should take up making fishing flies.

BTW, thats another of my hobbies. I collect fishing flies. I dont fish , but find them beautiful. I have some tiny hand tied Preying Mantid flies.
