Yes, thinner wire has more resistance. Think of the wire as a water tube and electricity as water. The smaller the diameter of the tube is the more resistance there will be.
But yes, 1.5 Ohm with a .13 Kanthal D (99 Ohms per Meter) will result in about 1.5cm of wire. Not really much.
