Update*
So I cut out 3 inches of 32g Kanthal, and made 11 wraps, which should measure out to around 3 ohms, and it measures too low for the provari to measure. I think it's something I'm doing wrong. Lol.

Actually you may want to try this:

3" of Kanthal 36AWG should ohm out to approximately 7.725ohms, making the resistance way high, not low.

I'm not sure of the voltage you intend on running that coil, but it would be pretty high for a vaporizer.... IMO.

You may want to cut that 3' in half and use 1.5" of Kanthal 36AWG - that should ohm out to approximately 2.4 - 2.6ohms.

Try using a multi-meter or an ohm meter and ohm out the coil prior to wrapping the wick, then ohm it out when the atty is attached.

I'm pretty sure the resistance isn't too low...... maybe too high, but not too low.... just a hunch.

Peace-

Oh, 3 inches of 36g is rediculious. I couldn't imagine using a 7.7 ohm atty unless you planned to hook up a car battery to it :D

But I'm using 3 inches of 32g. And it should ohm out to 3~ ohms. I'm just doing something wrong and just can't make a coil :/

I may have blended your posts, I thought I read you were using 36 ... anyway even 32 @ 3" will give you ~ 3.5ohm.

Check to see that you're not shorting the coil after its attached.

I am using 32g Kanthal A-1, in between 2 30g silver non resistance wires :)

Arc.... have you ohm'd the wires out with a meter or just your device. I'm a assuming a ProVari, VMax or Lavatube.......

If not check the resistance of the coil while it's in the rebuilable part.

What's the reading?

I measured it out and after jumping around it finally was able to give me a reading of 3.7 ohms, after subtracting the .6 ohms of resistance that my cables carry. But I keep trying to check the ohms and get the same reading but it's just jumping everywhere.

I measure it before its screwed in, and it reads .4 ohms.

HURRY HURRY HURRY!!! :matrix:

All the rebuildable ODY V2 parts on sale now at COV... Upgrade your V1 to a V2 now... I just picked up 2 new rebuildable and a spare 6-pack of ceramics.... they are not premade you must buy each piece separately but it still comes out to the same price... you will also need to provide your own o-rings... the new top cap nuts are also available... not sure if the short mode mouthpiece is the new longer version or not would need to check with Bruce first...

Grab each end of the wire with your thumbs and terminal ends, pull the wire relatively tight once your meter shows a good reading slide your grip on the wire more or less until you get the reading you want. Then bend the wire at 90 deg at the terminal ends. cut you wire ends about 1/2 inch from the bends, make your twists at those bends and wrap coil around 3 wicks. That is the only way you are going to get close fitting a 3 ohm using 32awg wire.

If I'm having wicking issues and dry hits with the control all the way open what would my problem be. I have the Penelope running awesome with perfect taste and vapor but I'm still having a hard time getting the Odysseus working well.

The only thing that makes sense to me is your coil must be wrapped too tight.
