I measured it out and after jumping around it finally was able to give me a reading of 3.7 ohms, after subtracting the .6 ohms of resistance that my cables carry. But I keep trying to check the ohms and get the same reading but it's just jumping everywhere.

I measure it before its screwed in, and it reads .4 ohms.

One of the reasons I don't like long coils is they are very easy to short out. If you aren't getting a steady OHM reading when checked at the connector (assembled) you likely have a short. I would look at the posative end of the coil and wick top of the channel before it benda down. If the coil is touching the mouthpiece on that end at all it will short out so make sure that end of the coil is well within the inside of the ceramic. Also on the negative end make sure the nr wire is cut either even with the bottom of the ceramic housing or slightly above that.

Hope you are able to get her going.

Okay guys, I tried searching for this in the thread but it's hard to word it to find exactly what I want. Whenever I make a coil for my oddy v2, I make 7 wraps of Kanthal 32g, using 30g silver as non-res wire, and every time I measure it's resistance, it is too low for the provari to work with. I like my coils at 2.7-3.3ish so I use a lot of Kanthal for that reason, so it seems strange it comes out so low.

Any tips? I think it might be how I wrap the resistance and non resistance wire. I pretty much do it exactly as advise, make a small V with the wire, then twist them together, then wrap the non res wire over it. But something must be wrong on my part.

Are you sure you've got the positive wire (going to center post) in the ceramic channel and not the steel side? On the new Ody's you have to run the wires a certain way, if not you get a short when you put it together. The V1 Ody's had ceramic on both sides so it didn't matter which leg went down which side.

Another possiblity is you got an Ody missing one of the small orings. The missing one is optional and goes between the ceramic and housing. The oring under center post and the plasitc disk between center post and ceramic housing are not optional. If you put one of them bewteen the ceramic and housing you'll get a short also.

One other thing that could be happening is the center pin touching the outer threads of the 510 connection. You'd have to have something really loose, cross threaded or machined crooked. All are highly unlikely but at least worth checking out so you can eliminate them from the equation.

All of this is assuming your Provari isn't messed up. You've tried other attys on it and the Ody on a different mod?

I did not read through all 494 post, so if this is a repeat question, sorry. I just got my Ody, which came with only one wire, and some wick. I see the wick is out of stock, so I'm stuck until it comes in. But after reading some post on here, I see that I may want to use something other then the new style wick, like butchers yarn or something else. Any suggestions? I can't seem to get a res. higher then 1.5 ohms, so I need to practice. Also, luckily I ordered res. and Non-res. wire before I got my Ody, res. is 32ga, and NR is 30ga., is this ok for the size wire, or is it too small. Please help.

Heres few closeups of the dual coil, this one with 2 overlapping 3mm wicks. Wicks like a champ and its surprisingly easy to get working without the coils getting in contact with each other.
