I got my Kindle today! Yippee! It's my Christmas present from hubby, an e-reader, in case you don't know what it is. I love this thing.

Anyone else here got one?

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka and Season's Greetings to all. Now it feels like the holidays are here.

Yeah, I opened it already, it came UPS and he was at work. :pI hope he doesn't want to wrap it up, I'm using it.

Oh, and I also got my order from V4L today, so puffing on my frappuccino while trolling for a good book to download. OK, that makes it a little more on-topic.

I've got mine on the charger right now, but when I was reading the instructions, it seemed like it was all right, I was in a well lit room, though.

Been looking at the site at Amazon, trying to figure out what to download, between posts here. :)

There's no backlighting on it, so it is supposed to be just like reading a book, so yeah, that extra light might be a good idea. I still have to get a case so I don't bang it up.

I hope it was the lighting in the room..cause I was squinting a bit!
I got the case ..cause can imagine it getting messed up in my purse or on vacation on the beach (6 weeks to go for that vacation!!)..
Sounds easy to download..but keep posting once you try so I know of any issues before I try!

Yes, but you are limited to Amazon's site for downloads. You can get freebies and pay ones, too. And it does store up to 1500 books, the one I got. There are enough free and super cheap ones to keep anyone busy for a very, very long time.

I have a kindle for PC, you can go there and download that for free and I only downloaded free books to that one. It's really fast, but I have FIOS internet. I did it so I could get a bit of an idea of what this kindle would be like.

My eyesight has been so flaky since i started on insulin. It seems to change weekly. I would love to have a kindle because they say you can ajust the size of the letters. That's why i went to books on CD, I just can't read books anymore.
keep us posted on the light ajustment! Without that it would be no good to me.

I really love it that I can make the font bigger! Also, if the audio is enabled by the authors, it can read aloud to you with some earphones.

I love mine and find it very easy to read. You can also increase the font if you feel you are straining your eyes. I use a booklight with it if reading in a dark room. There is a great newsletter that comes out via email once a week and gives tips and info on free book offerings from amazon and news about upcoming Kindle upgrades, etc.
Kindle Nation Daily ........................................ the inside scoop on all things Kindle

Thanks SO much for that link and the info. I'll be using that.

That's weird, I thought the whole idea about the ink technology was that there was no backlighting in them at all, that's what makes it read just like a real book. I did read somewhere, I thought that you could change the font style. I looked at a lot of ereaders before I decided that this was the one I wanted, the others just had too many off the wall issues with them.

Could you tell me more about Kindle for PC, like where exactly to get it?

I have a little 8.9" Tablet PC that it sounds like it would work great with.

Yea, I'm a bit of a techno-geek. ;)
