Arthritis runs in my family. 3 of my nieces are afflicted, one from the time she was an infant.

It's never really bothered me before, except for a touch of it in one hip, which comes from bone necrosis I suffered from a hip displacement 10 years ago, not congenitally, so I thought I lucked out.

But with the cold weather and no indoor heating, and probably also from all the extra typing and mousing I do now, the knuckles in my right hand are starting to really ache.

I brought a big bottle of ibuprofin, but, if someone could recommend a really good arthritis med, and JohnnyVapor or Adrennalynn could translate that into chinese for me to show to a pharmacy, I would REALLY appreciate it.

You might want to increase your dosage of ibuprofen, the maximum dose in 24 hours is higher than what the label says. However, it is hard on your stomach. You might have better luck with Naproxen, prescription strength is 500 mg. twice in 24 hours as I recall.

Over the counter, Aleve is Naxproxen. I also suggest asking for a topical pain reliever to rub into your hands, that might do the trick to calm things down.

I don't have arthritis, just have other medical issues that can require higher doses of anti-inflammatory. I do better with Aleve than the ibuprofens. Hope this helps. I do take a very effective anti-inflammatory called cataflam (diclofenac is the generic), but it is very heavy duty and not sure how safe it is without being under a doc's direct care.

You are in the land of acupuncture. Never tried it myself but what could it hurt?

Oh, I do NOT want to get into THAT debate again. :D

Suffice it to say that I only believe in using tested and proven science-based medicine and medical procedures, and acupuncture is the exact OPPOSITE of that.

But thanks for the suggestion, I know you meant it with the best of intentions. :)

Well, I do know Naproxen Sodium in Chinese:

(Had to move it over from my Chinese Windows-2k3 - I don't have a browser running that likes the chinese keyboard - guess I could try to figure it out in unicode. [shrug] - try this image see if it prints. If not, I'll do a PDF)

I'm not familiar with "Iotadine", and didn't find it in my PDR (2007) - are you sure that's correct nomenclature? Anyway - given that I can't look it up, I won't even hazard a guess. Too much hazard. ;)
