wow really? It can play Gears of War? Alan Wake? Dead Rising? Gamer Tags? Xbox Live Marketplace..

wow I did not know.. I thought all you could do was play angry birds and Fruit Ninja??

Hmm, who woulda thought.

No, ya goof! It doesn't play Xbox games. It does have comparable graphics and works with my bluetooth controller. ;) A lot of games coming out for it are comparable too. Gameloft is a great little game cloner, EA is already porting a bunch of games over, and other game makers are moving over to iOS and Android for their games! Once the Onlive client comes out for it though, it will have many PC games too. :D

I have Onlive on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, and that makes a great little portable gaming system. Heck, I haven't turned on my Xbox 360, or my PS3 in about a year!

They are also supposedly coming out with an iPad mini. Maybe it will have a micro sd slot, but I doubt it. I love my 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus!!!

I have that one too. Great little tablet! I've also got an iPad 3 64GB, HP Touchpad 32GB, JXD S7100 (an awesome gaming tablet), Nook Color, and Kindle Fire.

I thought they write for iOS because it's profitable. Android apps are not profitable, unless the developers spam people with ads, to the best of my knowledge.

You don't have to have a credit card on file to get Android. You do to get an Apple ID. That's why people buy the paid apps so easily, IMHO.

That USED to be the case. Android has become profitable for companies. That's why many iOS games are also on Android now.

No, ya goof! You're not listening. You use a bluetooth controller. Or with Android, you can use a PS3 controller, or other USB controllers.

I will admit, that I do use the screen on the iPad, but I use my bluetooth controllers with Android. :)

Oh, so I hold the tablet ackwardly in my lap or do I use one of those 50.00 holders? Do I hold it close to my face or across the room?

(I could do this all day)

It's a completely different thing and not remotely comparable to a console my friend.
different strokes for different folks but it's not the same or comparable. :)

give up LOL

Actually, not sure why you don't own a book to prop it against, but that could just be you. :p My cover works as a stand, and you can get stands for $10 online. But, I guess you win. I mean it's your opinion against...

...well, most of the world. Sure, there are a few articles that say that the Xbox isn't dead yet... YET! In a few years, the way Android and iOS is progressing, Xbox and Playstation will just be gaming services. I may be wrong, but (http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/02/sony-buys-gaikai/) something tells me I could be right.

I'm with you on this one, Eric. The tablet and phone are fine for playing games if I'm sitting in a waiting room or something, but there is NO comparison to a good console and nice HDTV (for me). I just got done playing a round of golf )in my living room). With the big, crisp screen, it's AWESOME. Not to mention Virtual Me can actually hit one onto the fairway!

Meh, but can they play Skyrim on Ultra?

I can: Skyrim - Imgur

That's only 1680x1050, but with my EVGA 560ti FPB 1GB, it rocks. Also, that doesn't even have the HQ gfx pack upgrade yet.

It's so purdy...:D

I play it at 2560x1440 on my iMac. And, I can play it on my Android tablet from Splashtop. Splashtop is quite playable with that too. :)

Sure, but at what settings? Those pics were for fun with maxed out settings plus the FXAA.
I normally play with some down to High as the framerate is better with minimal quality loss, IMO.

Oh yeah, that's also on an old C2D E7200 w/ 4GB on Win7x64

Great, a stand, at an angle that you have to be within a few feet of to enjoy, then you have to have a separate controller that happens to be with you wherever you've taken the pad and make sure both are charged and don't die out. sounds ideal....enjoy your aching back

Look brother, I'm not really arguing with you :)... but there will never be a day where kids no longer want to sit on the couch and play games on a TV in favor of using a small form factor. The landscape is changing there is no doubt about it, but games are expanding and it's not taking over consoles, it's complimenting them. So the same kid who has an Xbox also plays games on his phone or tablet, they do not ditch the console for the tablet, casual gamers may do that.

I like to play angry birds as much as the next guy on my phone when I am not in front of my computer or my living room, but, it will never supersede console/pc play. It is a different animal entirely. Personally I am not interested in buying a separate controller that I have to carry with me along with my pad device to play games on a 10" screen, I'd rather hit the power button on my Xbox and start playing. The hype is just that, hype, it seems all the articles forget to mention that this is an expansion of gaming not a consolidation.

will it change to cloud services? Sure, but they'll still be a TV involved and content "box" or a large screen at least. It doesn't matter how the content is delivered, when I say XBOX I am not saying it will never morph in to cloud/streaming services because it already is. I think you're mixing the issue we are talking about here. Do you really think small form play is killing (will kill) TV/large screen play? The xbox, whatever form it comes in next will be streaming device, able to stream content from the box to any device and that includes the tablets and phones but it's still a box, attached to your TV and that experience on a big screen TV will never be replicated by a handheld device.

who wants to play COD on a pad for real?

It's not my opinion, it just sensible, I'm not against small form factor gaming, just don't think it's going to push out "console" based. . Besides Engadget is pro apple anti-microsoft, that's a terrible place to link to for an unbiased opinion. :)

PS.. how is diablo III on the iPad?

Well, all of my tablets play on my big screen, but I keep it at 720p for it. As for gaming going cloud, I do think that that Microsoft and Sony will be all cloud eventually. You blueray/cablebox/etc will be your gaming system, as will your phone, tablet, and wearable computer. It's inevitable.

Where the Xbox is failing is game price. Unless games start moving to a price that is competitive with tablets, people are going to move to them completely. I'm not talking about games like Angry Birds. I am talking about games like Infinity Blade II, Infinity Blade: Dungeons, Modern Combat 3, Nova 3, Asphalt 7, Dungeon Hunter 2 (3 sucks), Brother in Arms II, Sinlent Ops, 9MM, etc. If you really think that Angry Birds is all that tablets offer, you haven't looked. Console quality games have been on the iPad and Android for a while, and they are all under $10! Heck, I got all mine on sale at $.99.

As for Diablo III, I haven't tried that via Splashtop yet. I actually only played it for 2 days, and haven't played it since. It was good, but I rarely play games when I am home. I usually play them when I am traveling, or out somewhere waiting.

None of those games match the depth of a console, just saying... many of the games that are for xbox. ps3 etc.. at 8 GIGs in size or better. I realize the graphic requirements are heavier on larger screens but you are continually ignoring my point.. the screen size and comfort of a TV based game...

I am not arguing that games aren't good on pads (I was kidding with the angry birds smack) I am arguing about size and use.

NOTE: I'd love to get a battlefield 3 type game for 10 bucks LOL

I'm not ignoring it. That's why I mentioned the cloud, and my ability to connect my tablets to my TV. That's where those games are headed.

Anyway, some of the games have a lot of depth, and are quite good. But, what is out now is just going to get better. I love my tablets for gaming, and about every holiday, the games are a buck! They do get better and better all the time. The Nova series is really good, if you like FPS games.

Oh, check this out: Android Gaming Weekly: Battlefield 3, Men in Black 3, King of Fighters, Gangstar Rio | Android and Me

Well hells bells, can't he use the voice commands on Android? I use the voice commands for just about everything. Then he can wipe his ejuicey hands all over, well, I dunno. A rag?
