I have just made an habit of pulling the batteries to reset my dna when I change tanks. Never got the New coil detection to work to my liking. It detects the change half of the time, at best. But that could be my own "fault" for having the ohms turn out so damn similar.
It only asks if it unsure whether it is a new or old coil thus if it knows it will not ask....

Well, I have lots of batteries and they are cheap, so I will vape on of my 40's down to not firing and let you know what the voltage is. It should not be hard to figure out as many of us are using the chip. Sadly, I am fully charged atm, so it may take a day or so.

Ok folks, if finally stopped vaping at 3.164v.

I have the same issue: if I change an atty while in Celsius mode and try to fire it, the VS rDNA 40 goes berserk - tries to fire, but barely reaches 2 watts and then flashes temperature protected. Nevertheless, works perfectly in Fahrenheit mode.

Did you send your device for repairs?
Yep. Thats the 'demo' bug as I like to call it. Looking at the screen it seems like its doing something but looking at the atty, it isn't. This is not always reproducible. Sometimes its fine.

I sent mine back for replacement (mine was pre gold version I think, not sure) but I'm not holding my breath to have a bug free C mode revision.

As it seems, beta testers never got their hands on boards with C mode and looking at most major Forums, there isn't much feedback from guys using the board in celsius mode. Evolv is probably not aware of half of the issues in that mode.

I gave up on celsius after just a couple of days. The garbled screen was the main factor for sending it back.

You did but the device was still firing at that voltage I suppose?

No...attempting to fire resulted in no vape and the "weak battery" message. I would wager that I could have left it alone and its normal monitoring activity would have drained it down further.

Why don't you just contact Evolv and give them a full run down on the C issue since you feel they are not aware? I'm sure they would appreciate the info since you are so familiar with the difficulties you had....

Regardless what they say. I think the DNA40 Clone (SX-40D) is much more sophisticated design chip. Not only it has Right-Left mode, but Up-side-down and Inside-out modes too.

Sorry, nothing new. I've already seen a mirrored dna 40 display. Evolv got to it first :) and that one wasn't all wet like the one in your picture

I did already reported a few problems to Brandon directly but there isn't much point to it until I get a goldy. Who knows if they fixed something in the meanwhile.
I'm willing to try out the C mode again though. Just not sure if the board won't go ballistic on me once I start messing with the settings.

Time will tell. :)

One big problem w/these loooong threads is, when I read through it, there are myriad posts I’m moved to respond to but to do so, so long after the fact, would be counterproductive to the thread and its up-to-date contributors/readers.

I made an off the cuff comment back in November on the rayon wick thread to the effect that I was tempted to get in on the “beta testing” of the DNA 40. Even back then I was told “Dna40 is way past beta testing bud, it's officially on, and is sweet!” Maybe it's "on" for some- or even most- but until I see strong evidence the problems are behind them, I'm holding back.

While I believe there’s a lot to be said for the concept of TC, I do not think the current iteration is anywhere near as good (read “user friendly”) as it will need to be in order to become fully embraced by the vaping community. I’m gonna give it 6 months (a lifetime in ecig tech) and see where it’s at then. Unless I miss my guess, it will be well sorted by then and I’ll be comfortable in investing in it.

I respect your opinion and I fully understand your approach but I'm more a bleeding edge wanna be kinda guy and to be completely honest, I miss TC now that I don't have it. I never vaped at high wattage so TC has limited use to me but just the fact that I can avoid those dry hits at the end of a tank are worth every penny to me.

Yes, the boards were put out too soon in my opinion but once again I understand the need to be the first mover in a rapidly changing business. Evolv is somehow taking care of all affected customers and in the end it's nothing more than a nuisance having to ship the board back.

I just wish that they would have ironed all the quirks sooner. It's bad enough the technology being rather sensitive to user's ability to build attys and mods but throw in a few bugs and you have chaos.

I hope the "goldys" are bulletproof. :)

Regards
Tony

think he meant the beta testers....you,me and others....he can correct me if I misunderstood...

We'll let him speak for himself. As you know, if he means that, he's making an invalid statement based on a false assumption, so we'll give him the chance to clarify and/or retract and apologize.
