It's a he. That spot on his back leg is where he tried to squeeze under a chainlink fence and took out a big chunk. He has never had any concept of his size and he saw the minpin go under so figured he should be able to follow

He was only eight months in that pic and that's the back of a minivan that he's sprawled across.

This is a little better pic of him...

Haha, my parents have a vizsla and it thinks it can do everything that the mini dachshund can do

I used to have 2 black Great Danes. They were sooo goofy! :D Since then I've had all German Shepards.

I don't have a Great Dane but I absolutely love them and thought about getting one before. I assume that since you went to German Shepards you would not recommend a Great Dane??? I have rotties now. Best dogs I have ever had!

I love big dogs, period. Have had German Shepards my whole life. I grew up with them. But I love Great Danes too. Two distinct different personalities. The GSD is the smarty pants and self-appointed guard of the neighborhood, the GD is the goofball. :D

Mine tunneled out from under my stockade fence I don't know how many times! Pretty big "tunnels" as you can imagine. :D We had to fill them in with cinderblocks and logs and dirt. Didn't matter, they just dug further down the fence line. :D And mine used to sit on the couch just like that toooo!!!! Fanny on the couch, paws on the floor! LOL

Had to show off my girl in her prime. She's 9 now, and is slowing down a little bit, but still still chases squirrels and puts her much larger 4 year old son in his place if he gets to rough housing too hard (and normally beats him to the squirrels). I'm hoping to have her around for quite a while, since it's common for our 'family' to still be with us at 11 yrs. I've had danes for almost 30 years. I just started showing (and doing very limited breeding) 15 years ago. Showing is fine, as long as you keep it in perspective. The time in the ring is very small. The time in your life is very large. Therefore, everyone's (the kids and my) top priority is for them to be family.

It's strange how I wound up with Face. She was sort of a rescue. When she was 6 months old, the owner/breeder had a major health issue, and had to place all of her kids. The originator of the line (which was also my guys) and I drove to Cincinnati to pick everyone up, so we could make sure that everyone went to good homes. I already had 2 danes, so my plan was to foster Face until we could find a home for her. She was kinda gawky, shy, and not socialized, but I had her one day, and by the next day, would have fought anybody in the world to keep her. All of my kids have been great, but here are some that just rip your heart out. She was one. On top of that, she matured into one of the prettiest, sweetest natured danes I'd ever had. And yes, that's her with the tiara in the avatar.

I feel your pain. I've only had one that was a digger, and it was miserable. Electric fence around the bottom was the only thing that worked. My only saving grace was that they'd get out, just so they could sit on the front porch waiting for me to come home (sad, but true). The funniest one, was that I was stooopid enough to put a 36" wood fence around a courtyard. My Houdini didn't worry about stepping over it, or digging under it, she just ripped the boards down and walked out...to my front porch.

LOL! Mine used to just run around the immediate neighborhood but of course they terrorized everyone simply due to their sheer size. They were such gentle dogs... unless somebody played too rough with one of my kids. ;) To get them back home, all I had to do was take the car, open the door and say "Wanna go for a ride". They loved riding in the car. :D

Dracorana - Big dog love coming at you!!! I love mastiffs as well. And yeah, they may be shorter than danes, but with all that bone, it's common for them to outweigh them. Personalities are extremely similar between the two...they're both scaredy cats at 4-6 months old, and sweet lovable goobers the rest of the time.

Bluesuede - That's the truth about them loving to ride. My ex and I were going on vacation, had a house sitter coming to stay with the dogs. We were going in and out of the house packing up his towncar, had most of the luggage in the trunk, left it open, and went back inside to get the last little things. Couldn't find Macy (my oldest girl at the time). Went back outside and called for her...looked everywhere. Ken walked around behind the car and started dying laughing. Macy was laying on top of the luggage in the trunk.

Highping, I've said it before on another forum, but I've got to repeat it here. I love your kid. His head and expression is beautiful. And I also love blues. A close friend of mine here in town has some of the nicest in the country. One of her videos that will rip your heart out:
YouTube - Great Danes- rated "P" for PUPPIES!!
