It vapes great! But those features for that price didn't sit well with me. Lol I'm a full blown advocate of temp control. If it was there maybe I wouldn't feel the same.
A product's price point isn't just about features, but also about build/materials quality, accuracy and reliability not to mention all the R&D. The class 3 PCB board alone probably costs more to manufacture then most of the cheap Chinese mods you mentioned. The average person might not care, and that's fine, but many of us do care and are willing to pay for it (you get what you pay for, after all!). And speaking of accuracy, I watch all of Pbusardo's videos and as far as I can tell, to this day, the most accurate
device (according to his charts) is still the P3 from last year! And I'm confident that the Radius will do just as well, if he ever gets around to reviewing it.
I don't get the 'I could buy 5 vamos for the price of 1 provari'...in what way is replacing something 5 times better than just buying one and having it last?
About TC...not everyone has jumped on that band-wagon. Don't be misled by the vocal minority, as far as I can tell, the majority still aren't sold on its' current implementation. I tried TC for a couple of months (have an IPV4S), and when it worked it worked
great...the rest of the time I was fiddling with it and troubleshooting. For instance, I would build a new coil....exact same wraps, etc. as my previous...but would it vape the same? Not necessarily! I would then have to spend the next 10 minutes trying new settings....the whole time I'm sitting there thinking "damn it, if this was my Kanthal build I'd be sitting here enjoying it already". Or a tank that was working
great the day before now is working not-so-great when I switched back to it. Yes, I waited until I thought both atty and mod were the same room temp. I think this is the main problem and why it's been called 'temp guessing'. And incidentally, it was Pbusardo who first called it that, and not the Provape rep on POH.
Speaking of Pbusardo, it's noteworthy that a year ago he gave the DNA40 a thumbs down because he though it was too involved...he said that the right approach would be if you didn't have to do anything special...in other words you could use what ever wires or atty you pleased. A year later, and he gives the DNA200 an 'enthusiastic' thumbs up. Did Evolve step up and give us a new tinker-free TC? Nope, if anything they have dug an even deeper hole of complexity. I'm sure there are extreme enthusiasts that don't mind being tethered to their PCs just so they can get a great vape, and that's fine, but don't think for a minute that everyone wants that.
I never had a problem with dry hits on Kanthal (I know how to wick my attys), I was interested in the concept of not over cooking my juice which could lead to the creation of nasty chemicals. However, since I prefer vaping under 40W (I tried going as high as 80-100), and I think I can taste if my juice is over-cooking then my worries might be pointless (I could be wrong). So I had some fun tinkering with it, but, at the end of the day, I realized I just wanna vape! I like wrapping my own coils but that's about it. My disillusion coincided nicely with the release of the Radius. It's brought me back home.
Not to beat a dead horse, but features shouldn't be your main guide when buying something you hold up to your face or plug into a wall in your home over-night. Let's look at the IPV4 (v1). Yea, it had a lot of nice features (lacking in the Radius). It also had a really nice feature where
the internal USB charging board would melt! Nice. But that's ok, you can just buy a couple more for the price of a Radius.
I have nothing against you wanting to vape the way you do (and I have watched quite a few of your videos), but if your going to review something like the Radius, then you should be a little more objective and impartial. In other words, realize what kind of vaper this mod is meant for, and then take it from there.
IMO, if you don't need more than 40W, don't care about TC's current implementation, and don't mind paying for quality, then there isn't a better APV.
BTW, the boost doesn't go over 40W. Learn your product before you review it! And the manual is right there on their website (not at all "confusing" as you stated).
ps: love boost
