Is there any explanation for the 9.5A limit when the industry standard batteries are rated at 25A?
Even with a margin of safety built in, it seems ludicrous to base your design parameters around 2013 requirements.

Will the amp limit be able to be raised through future firmware updates?
Could you name ten that are for sale now in BMs that have a Real and Tested 25 amp CDR?

Lets start there. OK?

Thanks, Jim

Stupid is as stupid does.

There aren't 10 industry standard batteries in 18650 size.

However every recommended battery such as the 25R, HE2, HE4, Orb, VTC etc etc far exceed the amp limit artificially imposed by the device.

Yes, they do.

Wow. Really? After all the battery discussion the past couple weeks? You never want to push the limits to 100%. Standard electronic design is 50%. Although the battery provided is 25A, most high-end batteries are 20A. 50% of that is 10A.

The amp limit is not at the battery - it's at the atomizer. When you work the math, assuming a 95% device efficiency, at 40W with 0.443-ohm atty, it's drawing 9.5A at the atty, and pulling 10.03A from the battery. Now remember that 50% rule? ProVape nailed it.

Will the amp limit be able to be raised through future firmware updates?

Can be, sure. Will it be? Not likely. One factor we don't know is how many amps their circuitry can handle safely, so it may or may not even be possible. Again, never want to push the limits - that leads to failures and unreliability.

Because x, y, z answers would have been interesting reading.
I am sure of that. But it keeps boiling down to: safety.

And something else: as long as the company thrives, there is no real need to justify what they choose *not* to do.

It comes down to this... ProVari made a decision. Some people will agree, others will disagree. Those that agree will buy one, and most likely really love it. Those that disagree will not buy one.
It seems that Cop doesn't agree.
I'm pretty sure nobody will disagree when I say this has been discussed to death, today was launch day and many of us are feeling good about our decision.

It falls within my vaping parameters. It does suit my needs. I'm not complaining.

Is it so outrageous to want to hear the thought process from a company such as Provape as to why they have taken a device in a certain design direction that seems contrary to every other manufacturer?

I like to learn.

I've been vaping long enough to have researched batteries and basic electronics to death over the years.
