The astron is a nice watch. I don't know if you've ever heard of Grand Seiko, but attached is a rather lengthy review of my Grand Seiko in a watch forum I hang out on as well as my time here at ECF. I'm a watch guy through and through. Grand Seiko's are hand marvels of perfection that compete with the best of the best mechanical movement watches out there. Warning, it's a long read, but hopefully an interesting one:

Oh, please stop with the Grand Seiko talk! I've been THIS close to pushing the "buy" button on one all weekend!

I re-wicked everything this weekend, so I'm good to go. What will be hard is both my Radius and Kabuki will be sitting on my kitchen counter waiting for me to get home tomorrow night......

Which Grand Seiko are you "GOING" to push buy on?? I own some really nice watches, but when I put the Grand Seiko on my wrist, it's just incredible. There's something remarkable about Grand Seiko. So, I say just stop torturing yourself and get it!

I can't. But I like your thought process!

This is the one I'm leaning toward. If not for a recent Tissot acquisition the decision would be much easier.

Just came across the iStick 40 comments upthread. It's funny because the second Radius is going to replace the iStick I bought for my other half. It's underpowered (which is not an issue for me as I don't use it) but I've never been comfortable with her charging the internal lipo battery. We don't use TC so no issue there either, but it was a good device price and size wise that got her off the analogues and excited about vaping.

It's very similar to my GS. I like it a lot! I hope you get it! I know you won't regret it if you do!

It's not a Li-Po, it's a normal Li-Ion 18650, but that's not the case in point, yes.
I suggest the iStick 40 to all my beginner vapers now. It's a great mod to begin with, great battery life for clearos etc. And it's simple.

Ah, i didn't realise that, for some reason I thought it was a rolled lipo - but yes, agreed it is a great first mod. That's exactly what I found, it's really simple esp in VW mode. Perfect for the vaper who doesn't want to invest too much in getting a good setup going (i.e. not a hobbiest type of tinkering) and works well at 1.2ohm and above in kanthal mode and is nice and stealthy which can be an issue for many who need to vape at work and don't want a setup that is too bulky or screams 'look at me!'.

those of you with the Radius already, how time consuming/fiddly is taking off the battery cap? or is it instant? the two gears look pretty but don't know if it's gonna be a pain in the ... like the sx mini

The SXmini has horrible battery cap threading. That's why I choose to use the USB to charge it. The rest of the mod is pretty nice though. I even got one of those second battery extension tubes. Like everyone says, it looks pretty stupid and I was embarrassed walking around with it that day.

I'm sure you're right. After avoiding Seiko for the past 20 years so so, I picked up a nice open-heart one a few months ago.

Most people see the Seiko name and think inexpensive Mall Quartz watch. Most have no clue that while Seiko does indeed make inexpensive quartz watches, they make some very high end pieces. Grand Seiko being the highest end of their watch lines easily compares/competes right up there with Rolex or Omega.
