What version of Windows are you running? One suggestion may be to disconnect the Radius, Close the Provape updater, then Right click and run the Provape updater as an administrator. It will prompt to connect the Radius, when it doesn't find it.
Make sure that Security software is OFF...this was an issue for me when updating via Mac and Parallels.

If I were to order a Radius now, would it ship with the latest version of software already loaded?

How do you update the software if all you have is an Apple computer?

Yes, if you order now, it should come with the latest software. If you know someone who has a Windows computer, you could use theirs once in a while. And there are ways to get Windows on an Apple Computer.

Thanks for the response! :)

I might be able to get access to a Windows computer, but there is no way that I'm going to mess with making my computer dual boot a second operating system just to get an occasional software update from one company.

for dual users: Honest replies only!

Now that you have had them for a hot minute, are you using the R* or the P3 more?

Down the road, do you see that to be the same answer?

Thanks! Curious and Tubed
Hard to say really. I tend to use the p3 more while working and the radius at home or while driving. Of course that depends on my mood as well. I have different flavors on both and swap between them often. Since I have a belt holster for my p3 it gets carried a lot more so that's it's advantage. When I make a holster that fits the radius that might change.

I've also been loath to carry a box because they aren't very carry friendly but provape has brought some of the comfort of a tube to the radius making it more carry friendly.

I have windows 7. Thanks for that suggestion I will try that! So far total frustration--it just won't recognize the Radius--maybe this will do it.

I need to ask for help.

I am trying to update my Radius. I downloaded the zip file to my PC. Went through the installation process with the .net thing, restarted my computer. Then installed the actual update file, restarted my computer. Plugged in the Radius, it downloaded the drivers, told me to restart my computer--did that. Plugged it in again, and a green message popped up that I needed to wait for the Radius Data to be retrieved. That was 45 minutes ago--nothing has come up.

I have three to update--but have already spent over an hour trying to do one.

Any advice?

Unplug and Radius. Open the Update program. Plug back in the Radius.

I believe that the sequence for using the update program (especially for the first time) is fully installing the program and whatever reboots, etc. -- then plug in the radius. The Program may take a minute, but it should find it.

Though not hard, even simple things can become a challenge. I admit I sort of crossed my fingers that it would work on the first update after I had similar experiences to kbf. Now, this second update --- piece of cake and very very smooth sailing. Nice. :thumb:

I can relate 100%. Kitty could be sound asleep across the room but will wake up and crawl on my lap as soon as I sit down. Sadly, that wont be happening anymore as I had to put her down a week and a half ago (kidney failure). After 25 consecutive years of 1 - 3 cats at any given time, we are now catless. I want to know what it's like not to have to worry about stepping in a barf pile, being yelled at to be fed, administering meds, cleaning up poop and pee, not having an animal laying on me constantly, etc.

I'm sorry :( so hard to loose a family member. Sounds like she had a long happy life with you. Pretty kitty too.

Hi Enta,

Once the new software was rolled out, all new devices going through production would get the latest version :)

Okay, so after a few days of use I wanted to make a list of my opinions on pros and cons with the Radius (for anyone who cares...)

Pros:

- Feels extremely solid and durable and has a really nice weight to it.

- Extremely high quality fire button (I get a little happier every time I press that button :hubba:).

- Different LED colors that come on the device are great.

- Having different presets to recall for different tanks, flavors, or even different occasions is extremely useful. I have presets saved with the same wattage and boost setting for the same tank but then have a different brightness and LED setting for night and day time which is very nice to have.

- Absolutely no delay between pressing the fire button and vapor production unlike some other devices I have used....I'm looking at you Evic Supreme :-x

- Micro USB charging means you will never have to worry when you forget to charge your battery. Just plug it into a wall and continue vaping while it charges!

- Upgradeable firmware with windows computers.

- The fact that Provape listens to its customer's feedback and makes the changes we want.

- Even though the 510 pin isn't adjustable, it has some give to it so all of my tanks and drippers sit flush on the beauty ring.

- Ability to use ego threaded and P3 threaded tanks. That is rare with most devices today.

- All of the different customization settings in general.

Cons: (remember, these are just MY opinions!)

- I greatly dislike the battery meter. It tries to measure your battery life based on your usage and changes the reading based on approximately how long the device will last. It acts more like a timer than a battery meter. This is too much hand holding for me. I would much rather see an exact reading of the charge in my battery. With the way the meter currently works I can never trust it's reading because I don't know if it's showing a low reading because I just took a few hits or if it's showing a reading higher due to not vaping for a few minutes. It changes WAY to frequently. I just want a straight up reading, just like my gas tank. I know if I have 1/4 tank of gas that I need to fill up tomorrow. When I look at my radius I don't know if I have to charge now or in 3 hours. It's very silly in my opinion. Just as I'm vaping right now while typing this, the device went from literally 1/4 battery reading all the way up to over 1/2 in a matter of 20 seconds. I can't imagine why they designed it this way... It isn't helpful in any sense (my opinion).

- The Radius requires all three button to be held down in order to lock your device from firing. This is very problematic if you only have one hand available to unlock your device. I would much rather have the device lock by holding the +/- buttons so I don't have to drive with no hands when I realize I forgot to unlock my device. I will never want to lock my wattage, it just seems pointless to me, so I would like to have the option to have the +/- buttons act as a lock for the fire button.

- The single 18650 only lasts me a few hours due to how much I vape. This isn't a big problem for me since I am by a charger 95% of the day, but I am plugged into a wall with my device more often than not. To be clear, I'm NOT suggesting Provape change to dual 18650's, I am just giving my experience so far. I honestly don't think being plugged in is a big deal, but it's still a negative since I would rather not be plugged in.

- The device seems to charge very slow. I often vape while the device is charging so this results in the device taking 4 hours to get a 3/4 charge. I'm not even sure if that could be improved (I know nothing about the technical mechanics behind charging), again, just giving my experience.

- Changing the battery is a pain in my opinion. With the current design, I never want to go through the hassle of unscrewing the bottom, dealing with the little gold connection thing (moving that thing worries me), and then awkwardly trying to screw it back together. I would rather just charge through the USB, but as I mentioned previously it can be a problem charging the device while you vape.

That's really all I have to say about the Radius so far. Overall, I love it. My main gripe is that battery meter. Most of the other issues will be solved if I purchase a second Radius. I really hope Provape gives us to option to turn off whatever is making the battery meter jump around every 10-20 seconds.

What do you guys think of the cons I listed? Do you agree with what I said?

Sorry to hear it.

We lost both our old fellows this year.

We're a bit at loose ends without them.

Anybody who was "expecting more" from this update needs to cool their jets.
This product is merely a few MONTHS old!
It's not like Provape announced this would be the final update!
Besides, think about how many other updatable electronic devices you own, that have updates available just a few weeks after launch, based on direct feedback to the owner of the company.
I'm willing to bet that list is MIGHTY short!

I'm very happy with this update. Happy with the Radius. Just wish it was more. Let's hope more updates are in the future.

Yup I'm with you on the cons along with not seeing volts. I feel in complete love with my 2.3 and P3. Radius I love, but it's a different type of love. Lol. I would love to see a better charging method/graph/eta to a full charge/etc on the radius also.

I feel for you Guy's loosing your pets. Living out in the country, and having dealt with animals all my life, I had to put him down myself. He felt no pain what so ever. But it sure hurt me. This was seven years ago, and it still hurts!

I now have COPD, and the Dr.s say NO CATS or Birds in the house. Grrrr.

So this is why we enjoy our Fox so much. I've never seen such a polite and patient animal. She will set in one, spot and wait for me of hours if needed. My only complaint, Is I love to Squirrel hunt, and even more love a good pot of squirrel and dumplings. Bun in NO WAY will she allow it.

Foxy always manages to get to them before me. I shoot, Squirrel hits ground, and she goes into high speed warp drive, and there is only a vacuum where the squirrel was just a second ago. Grrrrr!!!

But these two keep waking her up!

She's adorable! Are you familiar with the Siberian Silver Fox Experiment?
