Well I tried having a discussion with a coworker very liberal anti-smoker about the benefits of PV's. Here was her response to me. We don't really talk anymore either now.

Her: ...I mean, you think it will save lives, I call that a bunch of bull..... Especially if people find hey, this cigarette gets me the drug better and faster than X. The answer isn't a more purer form of nicotine, that's like saying "yes the way to combat ...... addiction is by using more pure ......" or of any other drug for that matter. I would say major problem is the nicotine, because that is what causes people to smoke the things despite their cancer causing agents, because you don't care. You think people will use other ....? and be healthier? I call that pie in the sky kind of optimism not based anywhere even closed to reality. I'm not saying that we can control what people do, but I find cigarette smoking in general abhorrent and incredibly selfish...much like any addiction, because it disables your ability to think rationally. This is probably incredibly offensive, but I can't help it. and no i don't want to discuss it further, and I probably won't want to talk about it tomorrow either. and I don't want an apology, or to try to understand your side, because as far as I'm concerned there isn't one.

Sounds like she's become a typical American. "I don't like it, so you can't do it either." Republican's, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Progressives... they're all the same. Too damn worried about what others are doing. If everyone would simply mind their own business, we'd still be a free country. Alas, it's not to be.

Circulate a petition around the office to remove the coffee maker and the soda machine because you care about your co-workers addiction to stimulants. After all you want everyone to be able to think "rationally" on the job. Apology my ......

ILL - Thats a wonderful idea! were do you get these things from?

Amen. Got so sick of that ****. That's one good thing about the Japanese, they keep their opinions to themselves.

I would find her addiction (coffee, tea, soda, candy, etc) and send her articles daily on why its "bad" haha....just to add ur point using humor....maybe shell crack a smile and be less anti abt it all after.....BUT - I dont know her and she may not have a sense of humor so if thats the case not speaking is prob the best communication ;)

usually when people are ignorant and u r able to get them to see ur point, even if they dont agree, but are able to SEE it...they become a lil less anti...bc they realize everyone isnt built the same....but it takes a well rounded, semi-educated person w a personality of more than cardboard to see past thier own feet :D

Now see I don't mind opinions unless someone is telling me what I can and cannot do.

I just wish people were more open-minded.

Just wait till it's foggy outside and tell a anti-smoker RUNNN! ITS THE DEADLY FOG!

yea I know bad, bad Ashley lol

Apology for what??? People like this should really step out of their bubble and join us in reality. Did you bring up caffeine to see what she thought about her morning coffee?

That's a real understanding co-worker right there! Good for her that she never started and therefore doesn't understand a smoker's mentality but she doesn't sound like the most empathetic human being to put it mildly. Selfish? Maybe if you're buying smokes instead of your kid's food or something but come on.

That looks like an email exchange. A better response may have been something like this.

Response:

So, you would rather see me die than do something that reduces the harm of smoking by 99%. All because you find it esthetically unpleasant. I call that abhorrent and incredibly selfish. Now that I've discovered what an awful human being you are, please behave as if you don't know me from now on.

Thank you,
Yadda yadda
