Hey can anyone explain what the rationale is for when threads are closed by the admins? I've run into quite a few threads that are archived this way, but which don't seem to have any obvious reason for being so. Sorry for the noob question; just trying to figure it out... Many of these archived conversations seemed healthy and ongoing.
Modding became a little controversial a while back. A lot of it was "political" for lack of a better word. You have to consider that there are a lot of careless people out there, who dont educate themselves and just do things blindly. ECF has a responsibility to cover themselves from the potential liability of somebody doing something stupid because they read it here, or posting something stupid. Just because I, or anybody else, posts a pretty picture dosent mean that it is safe or wise.
Some "conflict of interest" issues also came into play. If a Modder "sells" mods, they are technically considered a "Supplier". Suppliers have a different set of rules they must live by here.
The rules are what they are. While I may not agree with some of them, they are a condition of being able to use this Forum. Just like a post of mine got edited earlier this morning, it was in violation of the rules, and I cant deny that, shame on me.
As a last note, "let sleeping dogs lie" and make the most of all the valuable stuff that is available here.
