So I've had my little samsung phone from Metro for awhile and I like the no contract, 45$ a month deal, but I'm looking to upgrade. Have 2 co-workers at work help me out with customers questions that I was stumped on, and bam! they were able to answer thanks to their phones.
So all of you folks that love your smartiepants phones (and plans *gulp*) I would love to hear your opinions!
I've become burned out looking at all the reviews on Cnet, too much info to process, TIA :)

I have had T-Mobile for years and the price and service has always been great. I just recently got the Samsung Galaxy S2, my first smartphone and I love it. But like Morandir said you might wait if you go that route because a new galaxy is coming out and this one will drop in price. For example, this one is about $200, but the previous model is like $30. I don't think there's gonna be much that's better on the new phone than this one and it really rocks. I used to want an i-phone but not anymore. I'm very happy.

i'm poor, so i have no knowledge about such technology...however, our 17yr old, jobless, thankless, only son, of whom feels entitled to every dollar his parents earn, highly recommends the latest iphone -- in fact, he uses it every waking minute of the day (and the kid barely even sleeps...if he somehow manages to graduate from high school this year, it will be a freaking miracle). oh, and he also highly recommends all the accessories that are now available -- his match his sneakers...cool, eh? :glare:

Not to start dissing carriers but I live in the town where Sprint is based and nobody I know who has it likes it. Dropped calls and crappy service in your own town? hmmm.

The IPhone is awesome I'm sure but you can get Android phones that are just as good for much less and have more options for carriers.

Okay I'm done being negative. Promise.

what a can of worms ..you are going to get drastically different advice from anyone you ask .Talk to people in your area of where you frequent because service varies ! Go to walmart and look at the phones ,feel them ,decide what you need and dont need and go from there .Decide if you want pay as you go ( 30 days ) and no contract or contract .
No one can pick your phone for you .Take a friend and shop around .Seriously ,my contract is up in a few days and i am going with pay as you go ,buying the phone outright .
That is all :)

@skittish...now I know where you live...up the road from where I grew up :) But, had 2 in the family change from AT&T to Sprint and they said they'll never change again :) Funny, isn't it? How providers are bad some places and good in others?

It's all in the research...but I have nothing but love for AT&T but probably the best in the business is US Cellular...but they aren't available everywhere...yet ;)

As long as the network you choose carries the iPhone, go with the iPhone. It is the most user friendly smartphone on the market. The iPhone was my first smartphone and I have had it for nearly two years with no regrets. It does everything I could ever want a phone to do. The best thing about it if you have trouble, odds are someone you know has it and can help. It's awesome.:2cool:

It doesn't do flash, you cant download from the browser, there is no folder explorer, its locked, and you have to use iTunes for everything.

IMO the iPhone is the worst smartphone currently on the market.

I may be the only one on here who enjoys sprint.... But here my take...

Verizon and Sprint use the same type of towers so as long as roaming is on the service is equal "sprint has unlimited roaming".

Sprint has a good selection of phones (except the droids which I envy verizon for) and all of there data plans are unlimited... Verizon tops off at 2gigs then I think you either have to pay more or it slows you down like tmobile.... *not confirmed on the data cap*

With Sprint I don't have to pay a "smart phone fee" but this could be because I also have a 4G aircard which covers that fee....

I have never had an issue with Sprint customer service infact they have gone out of their way to give me my upgrade eligibility when it was taken away due to a promotion cancellation... So generally speaking they definately try to help.

Sprint also has a dedicated navigation program which in my opinion is way better then Google/Bing's navigation.

Those are the reasons why I like sprint... But I feel I am the loner in that field.

again ,i say it depends on where you live as to service and towers people .Sprint and verizon do not provide good coverage in any of the cities i frequent .i have had the best with tmobile so far .Lets not even start the apple /droid wars ...but yeah that new samsung will kick a*&^ ...if you are an apple computer user and need handlholding ...iphone is for you .....oopsss continued the war :) People who think the iphone does it all havent explored other phones ...sorry .My first razor had more features then my gf's first i-phone .....
