Tried those. It didn't help -- nothing was slipping. The knife did the trick. It put pressure in a very narrow spot right where the latch was while not pushing in anything around it.

When I put the batteries in, the cover has a much better fit than on my other one. This might be the trade-off. Neither is a good solution. There is so much to love about this PV but they also saved themselves pennies per unit by cutting some corners that shouldn't have been cut.
The knife opening thing sounds dangerous to me.

Hey Fot, wow, sorry to hear you had so many problems. The door is easily popped open with a piece of rubber or silicone. Granted, that shouldn't be like that, but we have found an easy workaround.

Also what batteries did you get? Did you get the kit or just the device, because my batteries from the kit fit perfectly. Oh and I love the bottom that rocks. Mine never falls over. Did you have a tank or something heavy on? I use a huge EMDCC and big heavy metal driptip, but it still doesn't fall over.

Surely you noticed that it rocks before you bought it....?

So you say. And what do you DO with the rubber? ;) I have a rubber jar opener that is crossing its eyes at me and asking me if I was kidding.

Thanks Dragon - it didn't work, but Rob's site where I bought it said to use rubber gloves. That worked. I wonder about using some WD40 on it???
Sandy
WD40 won't help. The problem is the little piece of plastic that slides in to keep the door from falling off. Each time you change the batteries it gets a little easier. My white one, which was easier to begin with, I can do with no trouble after a couple of weeks. I've got the first set of batteries in my black V8 and I'm dreading having to change them.

Is the Ovale V8 for lefties? I am a rightie, but I hold my PV in my left hand so my right hand can be free.
I'm a lefty but I vape ambidextrously. I think it is technically for righties. If you put your fingers in the grooves, the button is well positioned for your thumb. When I hold it in my left, I put my fingers around the smooth edge and my thumb along the indentations. It's just as comfortable as the other way.

I'd just like to thank everyone for their reviews and thoughts (both good and bad) about this little box. I nabbed one from DiscountVapers over the weekend (along with a FAR too large vape shopping spree!) Because of the input here I knew exactly what to expect and for the price point, I couldn't be happier with it. I just wish I'd picked up two. :D

I do not have one of these but I am interested. I wonder is lightly sanding the male slides on the door and hinge with wet sandpaper 1000 grit will help it??? Anyways!!! Are these things better than a LT or VMax. I have a provari and looking for a backup

Hey Matt, welcome!

Personally I wouldn't recommend sanding the hinge. I just use a rubber glove or silicone mitt and off the door pops.

On my white one, I can pop it off with my bare hand. My newer, black one, is tough. I use a knife from my stainless silver. It's not sharp and has no serration -- you know the type -- it can usually cut scrambled eggs. The key is that it's thin. Place it across the top of the battery door and give it a quick rap.

But the door is loosening up a tiny bit already. Sanding it would probably make it easier to open the first 20 times but would make it too easy for the door to fall off after that.

So couple questions.

Anyone who is currently using an Ovale V8 would you trade in if offered your Lavatube V1 for a Ovale V8? This is the Lavatube with the red button and the first one. Not really trading it in just thinking of possibly providing it to my better half.

What is needed to get a 510 tank on the Ovale v8? would the standard attachment work that comes with the Ovale v8 kit?

Welcome Matt! I dont know much about sanding but I dont seem to be having any trouble with the battery compartment. I have only used a Lavatube a few times and haven't seen a Vmax in person but for me personally, I like the size of the V8 a lot!!! For $29.99 I dont think you can go wrong. Also, Eric is a wonderful person that goes above and beyond to ensure you are satisfied! Happy vaping.

One of the things I love about the V8 is the shape. I'm okay with little, light eGo, but heavy tubes (like my beautiful Chucks) are not compatible with my hands.

As to using it with a tank, I think you can use it with 510 item. If you look at the picture, there's a little, silver post sticking up. That is basically a 510-to-510 adapter. It unscrews (and the first time I unscrewed it by accident while removing an atty, I thought I had broken my V8.) You can remove it to clean drips out of the sealed area below it and, even without it in you can definitely fit an atomizer. I just tried a DCC tube and it works with the adapter in place. (And when my V8s eventually die -- I hope a long, long time from now -- I'll have a couple of $2 adapters.)

And Eric is now carrying pink and blue rubberized V8s. If he adds gray (or maybe gold), I may have to lift my ban on buying more and just start carrying a butter knife in my purse.

And don't forget -- either the batteries that come with the full kit or AW IMR 18350s. Anything else and you run the risk of it deciding it has drained the batteries in a couple of minutes (and then possibly not working with any batteries.)

ETA: The one thing I dislike about the AWs is that the paper around the nipple is black. It's much harder to mark them for pairs. I use a sharpie on the body but that does wear off eventually.

I've never had sharpie wear off. I think the AW's last a little longer between charges than the blue batteries. What do you guys think?
