I've actually done all that...tried boges and many, many other brands and even smoked one for a whole day to see if the taste would go away and it never did...every carto i've ever tried no matter what i did to it just tastes "off" to me. oh well. i assume u use them cuz of the consistency ppl say u get w/ them...ya?

i'm waiting for a good pyrex tank to come out that uses replaceable heads like a vivi. might be out there already but i haven't ran into one yet...

There are some rebuildable tanks that have a glass tank or can be replaced w/a glass tank from IBTanked. Check out the rebuildable sub-forum if you're interested in that (rebuildable means the wick & coil, if you didn't know already :) ).

Arizona vapor trails is awesome, just got my 2 for 1 deal in the mail today and I was very surprised with everything it came with. The kit is pretty nice and the carto tank looks solid, They also put in some free e-liquid with my order. Now I just have to wait for my battery's to charge so I can test them out.

Mine charged in an hour right outta the box... Didn't get free juice...2 carto tanks though. Ya I was pretty impressed too, very nice kit especially for $32! Probably shoulda just grabbed the last 2...

Just popping back to this thread to report...maybe it's "confess"...that I went back and got yet another kit w/free bonus V8 for my husband. I REALLY like this little APV...both the one with the bells and whistles and the shiny one with just VV. Hubby likes his new kit...but he's going through an "adjustment period" because it hits so much harder than the eGo T Mod he's used to! lol! But he likes it!

I really like those carto tanks that come with...they are 3ohm cartos according to the Arizona Vapor Trails site. It took a little bit to get the "primer" off so they tasted right...but it wasn't bad. I've had Boges that gave me more trouble, so it was no biggie. I wish I knew where to get more of them, since AVT doesn't seem to carry them on their site. I'm not really a big fan of dual coils, but I do like the way these draw. Ah well. Again...anyone who doesn't want the carto tanks or cartos that came with your V8..please PM me and lets talk!! I might be willing to buy 'em from ya...if we can agree on a price!

Working... working...

Ok, take a look at this: CE6 Electronic Cigarettes Round Mouth Atomizer - Transparent White (6ml) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Specifically, take a look at that carto showing in the tank. Ok, so we know someone makes those durned cartos. (Duh...) Now we just have to find a source. That's where. dx.com falls short. They call this tank setup a "CE6", model number: ZQW20121016 (can't tie that to anything) and don't list a manufacturer.

So you could get the biggie size tank you prefer with one carto... I'm still looking for a source for those cartos though.

I got one of those ECD meters in the co-op for them on ECF. (Stonemull? in Australia makes them.) It the kind of meter that can read "normal" batteries and PWM (Joyetech etc.) types as well. I'm still figuring out all the bells and whistles on this meter - it can show volts, resistance, current (amps) and a few other things - but this is a couppla interesting things I found out plonking it on an early model type V8:

Why does it hit so hard? This might explain it: I have the V8 set to 3.2 volts. At least that's what the V8 display says. The ECD meter says it starts as 3.12 to 3.2 volts, but in under two seconds - I'd say a second and a half or less - it jumps a half volt higher, up to 3.7 volts. It does this right across the board: V8 set to 3.4 volts, starts at 3.4 volts and jumps to 3.9 volts. 4 volts starts at 4 volts, jumps to 4.5 volts etc.

Some people have wondered about the "Lo" battery indication. Didn't seem to make much sense when it came on. And there was speculation that you could just keep on vaping even when it was giving you a "Lo" message on the display. Well, you can. But when the V8 display shows "Lo" it isn't putting out any voltage. I watched the meter as my V8 cycled between the "Lo" message and displaying voltage. (My batteries were definitely due for a charge at that point...) Whenever I get "Lo" on the display the meter shuts off because it's receiving no voltage. The meter followed the V8 display during a button press and every time the V8 read "Lo" the ECD meter display nuttin', having no voltage at all and shutting off. So when it's flashing "Lo" you will still get some vape out of it, but every time it displays "Lo" it isn't firing whatever you have on the 510 connector.

Somewhere earlier in the thread I mentioned the same and fourthrok had a link to a warning that the V8 isn't recommended for anything below 2.0 ohms. I found the shiny one wouldn't fire anything below 1.8 so it went straight to backup. The newer one does better but still has trouble with anything below 1.5 ohms. I am sure this is what you are experiencing.

Good to know, thx! Ya my rubberized one works fine w/ one it measures at 1.7 but I'm just gonna go up to a 3ohm one now to be safe.

As far as the button function goes - that's the way they are. On the first generation, non ohm checker model, voltage up is on the left and voltage down is on the right. Since that flies in the face of every other APV design out there they changed it on the second generation, ohm checker model to the more standard voltage down is on the left etc.

V8's don't play nicely below 2.0 ohms. You might get away with 1.8 ohms but... If in doubt check the resistance of that 1.8 ohm device on a meter - it might actually be measuring lower than that. If anything, what's going on shows that the V8 has built in protection against shorting, even if you would prefer it to have a lower limit.

Appreciate the effort! Awesome! The tank does look like it doesn't it!?
