Right, I didn't consider all of that.

No charger, I didn't get the kit. I ordered just the body from Discount Vapors before I even heard of the kit deal here.

I'll probably end up getting that xtar WP2 charger. Thanks for the heads up for getting enough spacers.

Just be aware when shopping that the "xTar WPII" and the "xTar WPII 2" are actually two different models. The "two-two" is the current version.

When I purchased I read a lot of the technical reviews before deciding between the WPII 2 and a Pila. I just couldn't justify the price difference between a Pila and an xTar based on what appeared, to me, as a minor technical advantage in the Pila chip. The Pila is a great charger, but I really think it's over priced.

Note that if you go xTar shopping, and you are interested in all the technical stuff, not all xTar chargers are created equal. The 6 bay charger isn't just a bigger version of the WPII 2 - it performs differently. (The WPII 2 is slightly better on several point here.) And the MP2 uses a very different chip than a WPII 2. And stuff like that.

The WPII 2 has worked great and both the batteries and charger generate zero heat when charging. Nothing gets even barely warm - at all - which is a good indicator. My 2600 mAh 18650's charge in about three and a half hours. The spring sliders seem a bit "soft" to me and I even use a single spacer when I put 14500's in there. At least two for the 18350's. But the 18350's feel more securely in place when I use three spacers.

Got mine here: http://altsmoke.com/accessories/charger.html Because they had both the charger and the spacers in stock - at the same time.

OK, so I went and did some investigating. It seems the problem is with the center post of the connector. It's wire/solder point broke. I'll try and get some pics up in a few. Hopefully I can solder a new wire onto the post and reattach it. This thing has got epoxy/hot glue everywhere inside. I don't think I could get to a solder point on the board if I wanted to.

Here are the pics to better explain what is going on:

This is the inside of the unit:

This shows the yellow wire and the center post. That yellow wire should be soldered onto the post and the post goes through the center of the connection. Now I just have to figure out the best solution. Any ideas??

@wayner Just unsolder yellow wire from pcb, don't worry about glue. When it became hot you can remove it with your fingers. If you really don't want to touch PCB, you can safely expand yellow wire, find some heat shrink insulation and attach new wire to yellow wire. And now when you already dismount connector sand middle of the connector housing (not smaller part where yellow wire goes), usually it has very sharp edges and that's why silicon insulation after some time brakes and make short connection. I repaired 5 connectors till now, all on this not-recessed one, with recessed never had any problem. For silicon insulation i'm using this: 300 PCS Tube Grommets & Tube Elbows rubber use for CANON HP Brother CIS CISS new | eBay .
Sorry for my English, but i hope that you can understand my explanation :)

Well, my Ovale V8 came today. The 2 pair of batteries came yesterday so they were already charged up. I've been vaping on it for about 6 hours straight on it now. My initial impressions:

Having had the Smoktech Gripper prior to this, my thumb keeps reaching for the nonexistant power button on top when I want to vape. Gonna take a short period of time to retrain the hand to know where it is on the V8.

Although I can't compare the two side by side (broken Gripper was sent back to Mad Vapes for a replacement; it was 3 days shy of the warranty expiring). Seems to be an identical size. Like PBusardo yelled into his bullhorn, "Why would you do that!?" I keep trying to set the V8 up on its bottom side, but being oval it is tippsy turvy with a cartotank on top. I'll eventually relearn to lay it on its backside, just like needing to relearn where the power switch is.

Mine has the black rubberized finish. Voltage and resistance meters work. I notice it creates a lot of bright lights when I vape...I need to remember this when I take it to the cinema to stealth vape. I'm pleased with the construction of this when compared to the Gripper. The seam is nearly nonexistant, I almost missed it when searching for it.

The top connecter is solid, unlike the Grippers which was iffy upon arrival. The LED display figures are larger and would be easier to read if they were blue instead of read, but that's being nit picky. When I do find the fire button, it has a solid feel for an inexpensive mod, and is silent and not clicky...I like that. The Gripper's was a little noisy.

The one thing that gets a thumbs down is the battery compartment. The door itself is fine. Nice fit, opens and closes without effort, the battery string is a nice touch. But the springs are a PITA. I struggled to get the batteries in. I had to use a primitive tool to press the spring down to allow the battery to pass and set in place. Anyone found a better way around this?

So far I'm liking this little beauty, way better than the Gripper in construction and parts...just what I was looking for. Also glad that I picked up the V8 leather pouch/lanyard at Discount Vapors. The V8 fits real nice in it and pouch is custom fit to allow easy access to the power switch. This will come in handy when I bring it with me to the Muse concert next month.

Yes... Get the battery just started on the bottom end. With the spring still straight, rotate the battery while pushing down further on the spring. Keep an eye on the spring to insure it doesn't buckle. If it does, release and try again. The trick is rotating the battery to try to keep the spring from going inward and collapsing. It's not so bad once you get the hang of it.

Someone earlier noted that you could use a credit card to press down on the spring slide the battery in then pull out card slowly. That was a great Idea. I always do it that way myself.
Yes, I recall reading that myself, but my chargers and juices are all in my master bathroom, so the closest tool available was a pair of safety scissors that I held the spring down with.

Again, with the PBusardo bull horn, "Why would you do that?" as far as using that spring design. It's really the only thumbs down that I can find on this device.

I bought one in August I think and I have really enjoyed it. Other than the spring part, and rounded bottom.I use it a lot just don't take it out as much for fear of breaking it.
That's interesting. I got mine for out-and-about use so I can keep the Provari at home. I like being able to put it into a pocket like a pack of analogs, its light and not long at all (I hate long devices like the eGo's). Easy stealth vaping when the situation calls for it. It doesn't roll around on the passenger car seat like a tube mod will. And it's relatively inexpensive to replace should something happen to it....unlike the Provari.

It fills my needs.

Agreed. And it's such a "Doh!" thing: If only they put a flat metal leaf style spring in there instead.

The button not being on top is a minor adjustment for me too! Haven't really had any problems with the battery springs...but agree that the "flat metal leaf style" woukd have made more sense with this device. As for the rounded bottom: it seems like both my V8s act like Weebles. You know like in "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!" I have 6ml tanks on mine. But they aren't pyrex...so maybe that's part of the deal. I just set mine down like I do my VV Gripper and while they might rock a little...they keep standing.

I feel like these V8s are sturdy enough. I wouldn't hesitate to take them out and about. I do hope to get a lanyard for them, however. Currently I store them in a small cloth pouch.

One kind of crazy thing. The shiny older type model's voltage buttons seem to be in reverse. There are no + or - symbols, and to move the voltage up you press the LEFT side...to go down you press the right. Opposite of the newer model and the VV Gripper.

I do like the newer model quite a bit more.

I like my wobbly weeble! From an artsy farsty perspective it adds "tension" - you expect it to fall over, but it never does. At least not with my devices.

Yeah, that was one of the few complaints Sigelei seemed to take seriously when they came out with the new version - the bass ackward button layout on the first model. (Nope - it isn't your imagination...) Makes me wonder when I get mine if that will drive me bonkers, switching between the two different models.

Okay...as promised, here's a picture of the (L) shiny V8 and the (Center) rubberized V8 I got from AVT. On the right is my VV Gripper.
They are just about the same size. Only the shiny one doesn't have ohm checker or voltage level check. But that's okay. All of them vape like champs!

Probably not the most "creative" picture...but it's a picture! :)

Nice pic and great side by side of the shiny, matt and the Gripper! :). That is an interesting driptip on the shiny VG! What is it?

I wasn't able to find any reviews on the V8 only the V6. Does the V8 still have the recessed connection that needs an adapter to connect a tank?

The ones I received do not have a recessed connector. There is a nice solid metal "platform" connection (grooved for airflow). Itt's very nice. Much more solid feeling than the VV Gripper. You might be able to just spot the "platform" in my pic above. The newer version has an ohm checker and battery level indicator, too.

I couldn't post this last night when I saw your post Dragon, because I was on my tablet and Madvapes' website knocks me out of it all the time when I'm on my tablet (guess it's too "busy" and high tech for my poor 2011 Android). Anyway...the drip tip you are asking about is a "Double Gourd" anondized one from MV Anodized Double Gourd Drip Tips They come in several colors. They are probably my favorite style drip tip.

Anyone know of some other drip tips that vape COOL? I don't mean as in "fashionable" or "hip"...but cool as in it cools the vape? I already have the tank refiller SYM type long drip tip. Yep. It works. But it sure looks funny on my PV! Also I don't like perfectly rounded tops. I like a bit of an edge or something I can feel. Yeah..I'm fussy that way!

Any drip tip that is on the long side of things will allow the vapor to cool as it makes its way from the atty to your mouth.

Just off the top of my head, look here at the brass tips offered: Brass Drip Tips - Drip Tip Designz

I know the ones that I recommended are sold, but I think the vendor restocks regularly. I happened to come across this vendor because I am looking to purchase a trustone tip.

Super T Manufacturing makes the Tanbur tip: Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products. I recall a thread where several people who own that tip consider it their favorite mouthpiece.

I have a few of these large long pyrex tips from Hot Vapes. Some of these are 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches long and can really bling your mod out. They feel like an adult's "binky". 510 glass drip tips

I also like the Knucklhead tips that have the elbow to direct the ming-shaped tip in any direction. It's about medium in length at about 1 inch. A lot of vendors sell these now.

Hope that helps. :)
