Just a mini post:
I finally got to check out what I got from AVT tonight. A fast preliminary check shows both my kit one and the matte "ohm checker" model are working fine.

I like the ohm checking option. What I do find kinda weird though is the ohm checker version displaying the voltage of the 2 batteries in series when you hit the fire button. I'm not finding a useful point to that. The old version displaying the voltage you have it set to run at - which isn't the same thing - seems more important or relevant when you hit the fire button. Whaddya think about that particular difference between the two versions?
Connector is broken, when it goes short it reset device. Look at my post here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6-ovale-v8-vv-discussion-115.html#post8441092So far i like the v8+.. About v8 without ohm check.. I asked it not turning off... Its weird i took off 510 adapter and it turns of by 5 clicks but if i put the adapter it doesn't turn off or does not fire... I put adapter it keeps setting the volts to 5... If i change the volts to 3 it goes back to 5... Does anyone knows about this issue?
I open the v8 no loose wires..... I did see connector area in the middle o ring seems to be really squeezed so i popped the middle post and installed again everything is working find but i can't screw vivi nova tank all away down..

If you have the original V8 (shiny w/recessed connector), you'll need an adapter or 510 extender.
...- The PWM on both seem calibrated better than the VV Gripper, which hits much higher than the displayed volts. Maybe because it's using 2 18350's versus 1 18650?...
...- Too bad only the nipple top batteries that came with it connect. I have a box of flat tops that don't work with these
Never tried the tanks that came with the v8... How is it on the taste?
The bad
- Threads on the V8 without ohms checker are not good, and the 510/Ego adapter that came with it is the same. I have plenty of adapters, so this won't be a problem, but it would be a pain if I were new to vaping and didn't have a box full of odds and ends
Tried my trusty old, very well used 510 to eGo adapter on the black V8 - no problems at all. Didn't get any sense of a problem with the threads on the V8.
Tried the problem adapter on my box mod and it screwed onto that just fine.
In that process I got some of my liquid on the threads of this cranky adapter. Tried it again on the V8 and this time it went on easy.
So, my experience is:
The threads on my shiny V8 are fine.
The threads on the adapter included in the V8 kit were a little cranky. Stiff screwing onto the V8. But accidentally getting some e-liquid on the adapter threads was all it took to fix that problem. No need to toss the adapter as AVT suggested.
I'm putting my shiny V8 through it's paces today. Haven't even played with the "ohm checker" model yet. I did notice an odd "whining" sound coming from the shiny V8 the first half dozen times I fired it up. (Someone else mentioned this too.) But that was the beginning and the end of that weirdo noise.
Same here with the adapter. The threads, both inside and outside (the part that screws into the Ovale's 510 connector, are not very good. It does work on my VV Gripper, but is a crunchy and tight thread. I didn't charge my batteries before using them, and I got the whine from my shiny Ovale. Really noticeable as I was getting the "Lo" message and the unit was alternately firing when showing the volts, and not firing when the screen showed "Lo". It just kept cycling through in 2 second increments when I pushed the fire button. The whine doesn't bother me though, I notice the same with my VV Gripper.
I've been running all day at a whopping 3.2 volts - no whine. But I just cranked it up to 4.4 volts and - yup, the whine is back at higher voltage.
I'm so glad that they sent a carto tank, personally! I usually use 6ml ones...but having given hubby all my little 3.5ml tanks (he prefers that size), I am glad to have gotten one. Had I gotten a wick type tank like a CE3...I would have chucked it in the junk drawer or tossed it.
