I'm so glad that they sent a carto tank, personally! I usually use 6ml ones...but having given hubby all my little 3.5ml tanks (he prefers that size), I am glad to have gotten one. Had I gotten a wick type tank like a CE3...I would have chucked it in the junk drawer or tossed it. I never used a carto with slots but will try it. The Boge carto I put in it seemed to fit okay...if I remember right. Anyone who got the little carto tank with their kit and don't want it..please PM me. Maybe we can work something out?

Not outta my hands that ain't gonna happen! lol Seriously, I like the look of this tank a lot more than my SmokTech. Probably because of the nice chrome caps on it. So I want to give it another shot.

Oh! Does DH want my Goofy Grape? lol I got a sample labeled "Grape Smarty" and is it very grape-y smelling. It's 75/25 (high PG) so I can't use it. 18 mg. If you think he might vape it let me know. (That offer I made to give you my AVT sample still stands - if you actually want it. lol)

My VV Gripper puts out the same strength voltage with PWM as the V8. Exactly. They vape pretty much exactly the same at the same volts. I am going to get some 3ohm cartos tomorrow because the 2 ohm I use for my other stuff are really a bit too low. I have to set the VVG and the V8s to 3 or 3.1 to get the hit I prefer.

Ok, gotta ask because I value your opinion: What do you and DH like for tank cartos? My major annoyance with the DC tank cartos I've tried is they last all of 5 days - tops - and by then it's like sucking on a brick trying to get a draw out of them. Day 1: Great. Day 2: Not as great. Day 3: Starting to get liquid out of the drip tip. Day 4: Drawing hard. Day 5: Impossible to use.

I love these little V8s! They...along with the VVG...are my main all-day go-to PVs!

They're just... fun! And they do perform well. I really don't care for my white color though. (It's like "ice cream" white.) But I really like the blacks and the retro blue.

Oh yeah...if you need to stealth down the V8, you can cut a strip of elec. tape to fit over that bright screen. Works good. Be careful taking it back off that it doesn't dislodge the screen over the LED though! (easy to put back on, though...no serious worries)

Isn't that a bit overkill? Wouldn't something like the real deal "Scotch Brand Invisible Tape" work, without completely blocking out the display?

For me - this is not an issue. I found myself in Target today, just vaping away without even thinking of my surroundings. Normally I'm not quite that brazen about it.

Not even trying to catch up with the 100+ posts since I was last here but I am ogling the new V8 with oHm checker. How tight is the battery compartment? Do you still need to use a credit card to get an 18350 in without mashing the springs?

I got my AW 18350s at EmpireMods.com $7.99 each and they have a 5% discount code -- Vapetv

Yes, some type of "tool" is needed to insert the batteries. The springs in the battery compartment is the ONLY thumbs down I can find with this device. Well, also the fact that the bottom is oval, and with a full pyrex tank on top it will look like the town drunk trying to stand up straight after an all-nighter after finishing a bottle of Wild Irish Rose.

As PBusardo shouted out with his magaphone in the V8 review, "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?"

Hi! Long time...

Yeah, there has been no change at all to the battery compartment & spring setup on the ohm checker model. Knowing the length of any given batteries you want to use in these suckers is pretty critical. You already know fitting the original kit batteries in there is pretty tight. Any battery more than 1mm longer than the original batteries is going to present a real challenge.

Outta those last 100 or so posts the important one was about the 2-fer offer at Arizona Vapor Trails:

Ovale V8 Starter Kit [20000] - $29.99 : Arizona Vapor Trails, Puff on THIS

What's been going on if is you buy a standard V8 kit there they are throwing in an "ohm checker" model body only as a free bonus gift. (Work the sight coupons too - I missed that.) The sight says there are only 5 left and that's the end of them. E-mail or call first to make sure all the bonus ohm checker bodies aren't gone.

Cartomizers that come with v8 you can safely throw away :) They last about 2 hours and this 2 hours with constant dry hit, they are made with wick. I'm using tanks from kit with smoktech cartos, before i bought did clone this was my only setup for vaping, i have 5-6 tanks and lot of cartos (1.5 -2.5 ohm). I still like more original smoktech tanks, i always have filling that this nickel will start to jaw from tank caps, but it didn't start until now.
@Rickajho clean hole in the cartomizer every 3-4 days with some wire, be very careful or you can damage coils, they will last much longer. With v8 after 3-4 days add 0.3 V and it will hit as new. I used one cartomizer with V8 15-20 days.

I want to give a shout out to Arizona Vapor Trails. They went above and beyond on making sure I was satisfied with my order. The ohm checker unit that I had never worked, I asked AVT about who to contact about warranty and they were nice enough to send me a new unit to replace it. So far so good it is working great. Don't hesitate to buy from them.

I don't know if I'm just lucky or what...but I don't have any trouble getting my batteries in and don't use a tool like a credit card to help or anything. I get button tops that are no longer than 35mm long. I also use 16340s in that length and they work great! Yes..it's snug, but just put the negative end first and slightly turn as you insert the top end and I've had no trouble.

I use mostly Boge and sometimes (when I can afford it) Ikenvape Platinums. I punch my own because most manufacturers punch the holes a bit too low (1/2 or more mm too far down on the cartomizer). This causes excessive crackling, gurgling noises, can make the carto flood easier, and the carto won't last as long. I move the hole up just a teensy bit from where the manufacturers put the hole then put an additional hole directly above the first one..about 2 to 3 mm. up on the carto. My juice is thin, and so is hubby's ...but it REALLY helps and my cartos never leak or flood and can last running up to around 70ml. through them. No kidding. Some do better than others of course. But I vape around 10ml. a day and on average I can count on between 4.5-5 days to 10 days on a single carto with the same tank. True...the 10 days ones are outstanding and not that common with that much juice going through them!

I'm careful punching my cartos. I do use the little $6 tool sold at most vendors, but I keep it meticulously clean with isopropyl and wipe it down to get the metal debris off. I also will only turn the screw (holding it up to my ear) until I hear the sound that it's penetrated the carto wall, then stop. I use the tip of a sheet metal screw to gently push into the little hole to clear it. Keep the holes as small as possible! Unless the carto starts life burnt right out of the box...I've had very good success. With the Smoktech cartos my experience is much like yours, Rick. They simply do not hold up very well...but vape great for the first day or two.

Like I mentioned I mostly use 6ml. tanks. I really like the Boge F16, but also have used Smok tanks. I don't like the delrin end caps...so if I can find a chrome one that fits the tube, I switch 'em out. I've found Smok tanks can be finicky about what cartos will fit (especially with home punched) when they have the chrome caps. The F16 works with anything. I'm planning on getting a couple of Triple V tanks as soon as I'm able to...they are the kind that have the screw for side filling. The little Smok 4.5 ml. shorty tanks with the chrome ends seem more forgiving with carto sizes that than the big guys are...I use them too.

Sorry...neither hubby or I are into "fruity" or "dessert" e-juice! We'll pass on the grape! lol! But maybe you'll find someone else interested, Rick. (Still interested in the little tanks from AVT if others aren't interested in them. PM me!)

The reason for the elec. tape to stealth is when you are in a dark place like a theatre, it'll block the red light from glowing all over the place. It's really bright!

Fresh batteries in the shiny Ovale 8 v1, and I still get a whine. The display still cycles through every 2 alternating between showing the volts and "Lo" with the power cutting out when "Lo" displays. It does this on my 1.4 ohm odysseus clone and a 1.5 ohm Reactor tank, but doesn't do this with 1.8 ohm Aga-T, all ohms checked with a VV Gripper and a Vamo. Protection kicking in? All my other variable voltage devices can fire as los as 1.2 ohms without issue.

michliu ....the V8 doesn't play well with lower ohms. This is a quote from the Discount Vapers website regarding this and other tips with the V8.

Important things to know about the V8 that I have learned:
1. It does not perform well on LR cartos, it has a 2.5amp limit. It works best on 2.0ohm and higher.
2. Use two of the same batteries, same brand, same mah rating, do not mix and match batteries, do not use one old battery and one new.
3. If you receive any error codes, remove the batteries, charge them, put them back in and start at the lowest voltage.
4. Do not screw in cartos tighter than "finger" tight, mening do not torque your cartos down, even though they fixed the shorting issue, it's still a good practive not to crank them one.
5. The Segelei, even though it puts out proper voltage seems "stronger" it is recommended that you start at 3.0 and work your way up, there have been reports that carto coils will die when a voltage is set too high. Also, it is too easy to accidently hit the buttons to turn 3.0 into 6.0, so please be aware.

The vendor mentions "Segelei"...but it's the exact same as the Ovale.

16340 Button Tops are no doubt a little easier to fit than 18350 batteries. I've seen some 18350s offered as Button Top that I would characterize as Nipple top. Those will fit, but definitely take more work, both in and out. The nipple will hang up on removal where the Button Tops slip right out. Yes, twisting the battery while compressing the springs is definitely a good trick to keep them straight while installing.

That's odd. The carto in my freebie tank from AVT appears to be solid polyfill like a traditional cartomizer! hmmm.
Polyfill with horizontal coils on fiber wick. Something like this:
echoedualcoilcartomizer.jpg

standard smok and boge are like this:
Smoktech_hottest_cartomizer_510_dual_coil_cartomizer.jpg

They both have polyfill around coils.

Sigelei is manufacturer of ovale V8 ;)

Ah! So what you are saying they are dual coils! I gotcha! When you talked about "wicks" I thought you meant it was like a CE3 type tank or something. Okay...not a fan of dual coils, but I can deal with them. I usually use single coil. They look just the same, but don't have the two coils, only one. I need to go back and see if AVT mentions what ohm they are. But then...being that V8 is VV, I guess I could just fiddle until I find the "sweet spot" right? haha!!

Just popping back to this thread to report...maybe it's "confess"...that I went back and got yet another kit w/free bonus V8 for my husband. I REALLY like this little APV...both the one with the bells and whistles and the shiny one with just VV. Hubby likes his new kit...but he's going through an "adjustment period" because it hits so much harder than the eGo T Mod he's used to! lol! But he likes it!

I really like those carto tanks that come with...they are 3ohm cartos according to the Arizona Vapor Trails site. It took a little bit to get the "primer" off so they tasted right...but it wasn't bad. I've had Boges that gave me more trouble, so it was no biggie. I wish I knew where to get more of them, since AVT doesn't seem to carry them on their site. I'm not really a big fan of dual coils, but I do like the way these draw. Ah well. Again...anyone who doesn't want the carto tanks or cartos that came with your V8..please PM me and lets talk!! I might be willing to buy 'em from ya...if we can agree on a price!

I musta bought the third to the last, cuz I bought one last night shortly after fourthrock made
her post above yours. Had I had a bit more jingle, I'da bought two sets. Cool vape mail on the
way.

EDIT: Just checked for grins, and they are sold out. 'twas a good ride.
