When I checked out the FTV website, I was put off by the fact that there is no information on *who* is organizing the action, the organizer(s) background and experience, and only an anonymous email contact. For that reason alone I wouldn't participate, even if I thought their strategy was as effective, or more than, CASAA's, which I don't.

I'd prefer to see vapers presenting a unified front, but we're all free to decide for ourselves how to proceed.

Well I won't be filling out the form. I am not comfortable with handing out personal information to a site hiding its ownership behind a proxy.
That part was disturbing, very true. There's nothing like sending your info back to you for your records so the nsa mafia can read it easily too, instead of working for it.
Other than that, it was such a joy to do!! We didn't have to go look up our congressman, our Senator, our lobbyists, our legislators, and all that creepy stuff. Why can't CASAA use a tool like that? What tool is it? Plus they FAX instead of email. With CASAA we email and phone. It's different enough to be different.
The comment box let's everyone speak. Including lived ones who do not smoke or vape, I imagine. Now THAT is easy for them. We need a decent tool like this. I hope the bickering stops, and the details get worked out and get this thing usable, especially for our loved ones who just want to click a button and let YOU send the info to the right people.

If you read the CASAA blog post with the overview of CASAA's plan, you will see that they have invested in a program to do just that, and they have already used it on some recent CTA's.

The Action Plan will include, among other things, Calls to Action with specific requests directed towards members of Congress. To support this massive undertaking, we have subscribed to CQ Roll Call, a program which will help connect our members easily and in a targeted fashion with their state and federal legislators on specifically crafted campaigns we design. This tool will be valuable as we move forward to the next stage of our battle, and it will also help us in our continuing efforts at state-level advocacy.

I think the vaping Malitia's statement clarified it best for me;
Every weapon in our arsenal | The Vaping Militia

I can see where CASAA would have an issue with the format used to contact the FDA. I mean, we had to resubmit comments with the CTA #2 just to get the subject line correct with all the comma's in the right places. So I kinda figure that they have some sort of filtering in place that'll reject most (if not all) the faxes. As long as people are civil, rational, it's not going to do any harm if they are (omg) actually read. But I can see why - as an org. CASAA wouldn't support it.

I see the main target of the website is to deliver the comments to Congress and that's equally worthy and they probably haven't heard our stories, or what it means, or how this affects us personally and they are probably the ones who need to hear from us the most. Seriously, holding up a usb charger as proof that a 'new fangled device is aimed at kids' looks pretty stupid - not to mention the FDA has already approved flavors in NRT products (that includes inhaler and mists) plus dual and long term use, which has the same ingredients as eliquids. How long does it take for the public to figure that one out? The worst outcome from any single member getting 650 letters might be they'll ask smarter questions / put a little more effort into their cya efforts.

Zeller's "for the public good theory" is an excercise in creative imagination, at best. He will always attempt some form of that no matter what vapers say or do. It's close to impossible to argue with fantasy. The facts are that 70% of smokers want to quit. Current NRT products have less than a 6% success rate and some products may do more harm than what they attempt to treat (Chantix). That's not much hope - and certainly not odds that any other medical condition (like cardiac problems) would recieve FDA approval for treatment.

There's so much Congress needs to hear about that maybe taking it a little at a time might be less overwhelming for them.

And the site does make it easy for people to get involved.

As mentioned in the link I posted earlier, CASAA has already implimented CQ Roll Call, which also looks up your representatives for you.

From that CASAA blog post:

The CQ Roll Call program represents a significant commitment of financial resources, but we have been careful with the money our membership has donated over the years, practicing sound fiscal management to ensure that the money will be available when the time is right. That time is now. We are working with the company to get the program rolled out as quickly as possible, and we have been told that we should have it functional enough within the next two weeks, in time for our second Call to Action (which will be the first of several directed at Congress).

We've already used in a few state-level CTAs since we got it, including California, Vermont, Delaware and New York:

As was done in in CASAA's Call to Action in May (in conjunction with MNVapors) -- for Minnesota. It was a breeze to use!

I got news for everyone in case you didn't already know. They don't care about what anyone says or wants they will get their way this comes down to money just like everything else in life. Sorry but we stand no chance so whatever is coming will come and there is no point wasting any time fighting it.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2

You are right in that much of what occurs in this world come down to money and/or profits, but I have to say that you have a piss poor attitude in saying that 'we stand no chance, this is a waste of time.' So are we then to sit back and do nothing in life? Just watch all that is wrong in the world and say 'That's unfortunate, but we would never have a shot at changing it.' ? There is ALWAYS the potential for change when people are willing to face the odds and be willing to put forth effort regardless of their chances.

America's founding fathers had little chance or hope of achieving independence, but they overcame and succeeded. I'll take hope, action, and the possibility of change any day over apathy a defeatism.

I have said it before and will say it many more times... I care not if we are on opposing sides of this issue or that, regardless of your stance be active, be vocal, and be a force of change in this world that needs it so desperately.

Not necessarily. Look how Malcolm X and Dr. King fundamentally disagreed on the "right" way to make change. Change still happened.

Absolutley. If CASAA issues an order and says "let's move on this", I'm 110% there. No doubt. Even if they through up a "caution flag" like with the first petition. However, this is a multi-headed issue that probably deserves approach from multiple fronts. There's a number of people in Congress right now that are gearing up for re-election and this could be good timing to get their attention. At least the first wave. There's a good chance more will come, I hope.

I don't see any disagreement here. I'm sorry PBusardo got mixed signals (per FB) because that definatley hurt the effort. I'm sure enough will follow through that it'll raise a few eyebrows and cast some doubt about what they've been told. That's success.

This.

I was hesitant at first, but I submitted my FreeToVape form.
And I have done, and will continue to do, all CASAA Call's To Action as well.

I believe in attacking from all angles.
Always have, always will.

This is what I fear in the most. Years of having health checks ups and providing it in open isn't enough for them and now they're going way above and beyond taking rights to vape. Hell, I'm on a 30day heart monitor just to prove it doesn't increase heart rate currently.

wait....what?

nicotine DOES cause increased heart rate. I'm getting my 30 day heart monitor myself this coming Thursday, I'll record my results.

Everything I've done in the past showed an immediate increase in heart rate after smoking or vaping. Yes, I tested this on vaping.
Nicotine is nicotine.

I agree and I have reduced my nic from 18mg to 6mg, but I drip now so it is actually more like 9 or 12 that I am getting (I think?). Anyway, I have no desire to give up nicotine. I just want to quit smoking. I also drink coffee. Yep. Don't want to give that up either and I know it raises my heart rate and BP. Fine by me. I just want my right to decide if I vape, smoke, chew, puke or what.

I plan on doing this. but.....

...how hard is it to submit you're comment to the FDA, and then CC your senators and reps?

BTW - Saw GG and Rip's videos. Wish GG could remember the name and Rip was was cool and and to the point. Want to see who else endorses this in the course of a week.
