Jas:

I'm super excited to get my mitts on that MG. I have plenty of well-steeped monkey poo on stand-by.

Thinking i'll have to wrap the post with cotton, then wrap the coil over it like the old cotton-sheathed ss wick. Should be simple enough.

Soon I hope

If all goes well (and I get out of work at a reasonable time), I'll be drilling and cutting tubes this evening. I'll get one set up and do another day of testing to make sure there are no major fubars. Assuming I don't find any major deal breakers, they'll be ready to go. this week.

Just an FYI... I was planning to put a wick & coil on before I sent it out... If ya want, I'll skip it and save you the step of yanking out my coil & wick.

Here's me setting mine up and getting after it.
The oliveR By pdib - Setup And Demo - YouTube

Another awesome vid Super_X - I wouldn't change a thing!

I've posted just one video so far and found its harder than it looks. I've got all the stuff but I don't have a good area with proper lighting setup...... YET! :)

Jasl90 - you're already putting in enough work on those MG's - don't bother with the coil on mine... I have lots of wire, ekowool, XC, and XS, I'll have to try them all. :)

I put a little BeCu strip in your goodie-bag cause we're pals and I wanted you to blow your face off. :p
Haven't decided to include that as a "standard goodie" just yet. Folks who want "face-blowing-off option", I guess you can always request that. :|

I replaced the vid with one with a new voice over.

I sound like I'm experiencing some nic induced lethargy :)

But Hopefully I was more accurate this time :)

I appreciate y'all pointing out some of those inaccuracies :)

Great voice over. If pdib decides to include the copper strip as a standard option, you might want to mention that's the full bareback "BLOW YOUR FACE OFF" option. :)

Yep. Doesn't seem wise to go "standard option" on that.
Yep, make people request the "melt in my pocket and cook the goods option"

When thinking about the thermal run away and the face. I keep hearing the description from Chuck Yeager when after punching out the phosphorus charge landed on him and burned through his helmet and down the side of his face.

..Ok, forgive my noobness. I've only been vaping for a little over 3 months. But isn't the batteries nowadays much safer due to IMR chemistry as long as we stick to buying them from reputable vendors?

So far the worst I've experienced is a hot mod. I noticed my vape started tasting metallic and the base of the atomizer was getting hot to touch. It turns out the juice dripped out and seeped under the atomizer. I've also experienced a battery shut down but nothing as catastrophic as blowing up. So would I have had a potential thermal run away had I kept on going?

Yes IMR batteries are much safer batteries. The biggest issue is in a hard short where the battery will pull amps way over it's rated value and will heat up quickly, at some point this becomes a self sustaining event and even if you break the short and pull the battery it will continue to heat up.

The 10 amp fuse in the OliveR protects you from this, replacing it with the BeCu blade removes all protection and it's up to user to be vigilant. Pulling the fuse will only really benefit serious sub-ohms and they SHOULD know what they are doing.

Even if you've done all the checks and know there is no shorts when you build a coil and mount it you still must be very careful. Recently someone had an intermittent short in their RM2, took them a while to figure out that small piece foil from their pocket got into the RM2 and would cause the short. The fuse on the OliveR would protect you from this without letting a thermal issue develop in your pocket. thus the comment about cooking the goods.

I saw a video of an AW IMR hard shorted (with wires, in a pyrex dish) until it ran out of juice. It took about 13 minutes, as I recall. It got up to about 240-270°F fairly quickly. It did not explode. The idea with IMR batteries is that they will just get very hot and not explode. That's the design, that's the intended outcome. Nobody would ever say that that's what will happen every single time, no matter what.

It's nice to have homies like you Peter :) thank you bro.

I would use it in an emergency only. It's nice to have though. :)

And thanks for the props on the flick. I enjoy making them but run out of stuff to make em about when I've already shot the best bottom fed mods, best bottom fed RBAs and best coils / wicks :)

Guess my movie days are over :) :)

Ok, so I got a hold of a variation of Richlite that I want to offer. It's a very subtle difference here; but I think it serves a purpose and may appeal to some folks. I'm gonna call it "Slate". It's almost black. But it's a really really dark grey with brown undertones, and sometimes almost a Mica-like metallicness. DON'T think for a second, that it's metallic. It's not. But you know how Slate can have that sheeny kin'a look to it? Like a leathery metallicy kina thing. Anyway here's some pics to establish how, in some light, it almost looks the same as black, sometimes more distinctly grey/brown. I thought some folks might like it because it serves the same purpose as the black, but in a warmer, more natural, organic kin'a way. (like if your were framing a picture, would you want stark black for the mat board, or warmer?) Anyway, I'm not gonna post every pic, but these will click you to the pho-buck gallery.
