IMO Dibis are very different from Reos and both serve different roles. Dibis are a sit at home caressing the beautiful mini sculpture. Reos are a take anywhere mod and if you run over it with the car all is well and you can marvel in the engineering. Just because I have a Dibi doesn't mean I won't have a Reo too. They both serve very different and important functions and both are necessary.

They are different and the same, they are both bottom feed wood mods with squonk holes. They are different in execution, the Reo Woodvil has a door, side squonk holes, hot spring, on/off switch, fire switch and wires. The Oliver has front squonk hole, no door, is rounded, is fully mechanical with no switches and wires. The OliveR is a very low voltage drop design. The metal Reo Grand is a tank that is a go anywhere mechanical mod but should not be compared to wood BF mods. Yes I will still be buying wood and metal Reos as well and pdib built OliveRs.

Scottish Todd likes those a lot too! I'm not sure about his knowledge of Hungarian! Ghoulash perhaps :p

Hey hey hey now, hold up!!!

Goulash, when made properly is a seriously AYuss kicking good meal. The spicier the better... and anyone that says "ground beef" in regards to it hasn't had the real deal!

He also likes my Mod a lot, from what he's seen. He called me Santa, and asked for one (by way of implication). Problem is, I don't have any extras.

Well! If/when you need to ship him one.... you know someone in the UK that can get it via USPS and then pop it into the Royal Mail system for you, which should theoretically save in shipping time....

;) ;)

So you are making box mods with bottom feeding?

When all is said and done, will this gain you independence from REO's, or will you still buy them?

I know you guys like your REO's, but what is the difference with these? Different case materials and finishes?

This bottom feeder doesn't fit any conventional class that I am aware of.
Unless I missed some previous BF, it is a unique design that is simplistic yet elegant and functional.
It has a very good feel to it in your hand, hard to describe but kind of like your favorite comfy house shoes vs a pair of awkward dress shoes are to your feet.
Squonking also seems more natural than a front squonk BF.
The accessibility to all the functional parts is .... well frankly I can't think of a quicker cleaner way than the pdib design.
Although I am traditionally a function over form kind of guy, this mod I am proud to show people for the form and yet the function is superb also.
Makes me think of that saying "vaping like a sir".
I did a quick check of the voltage drops at key points (I will be able to do a much more thorough evaluation next week) and it passed with flying colors for sub ohm vaping.

I will still be using a Reo Grand mostly at work due to the tank like quality.
Note: A highly modified for sub ohm vaping Grand whereas no modification was necessary with pdib's.
Also note that I work in some very hostile environments doing construction work and if at a less risky job all day the Grand would be the backup in the vehicle.
If I dropped OliveR off a 36 foot ladder or from a scaffold or lift I would probably have a heart attack, and while I am not going to try it I am fairly certain it wouldn't survive.
With the Grand it would be more like: "Well I hope it survived and if not I can get another one just like it."

If I have to use one word to sum up the pdib mod it would be elegant:

a : refined grace or dignified propriety
b : tasteful richness of design or ornamentation
c : dignified gracefulness or restrained beauty of style
d : scientific precision, neatness, and simplicity

The parts that carry the current are more robust in some key areas; and rather than employing a hot spring, it utilizes a low resistance fuse.

What is a box mod? This is an ellipse mod. Is that a box mod? It has a lid. Boxes have lids. It doesn't have corners tho. Boxes have corners.

. . . .. hard to say.

Modified (asymmetrical smushed) ellipse, but a beautiful one. ;)

Here's a couple pics of my progress on run#2.

They are all at the same stage.
