If my battery were to go thermal in my highly anticipated and expensive to me OliveR, I'd prob cry like a baby. Stainless tubesteak is one thing, but wood? I don't know if I'm willing to try.

please don't. I was just kidding. This isn't a face-blowing-off contest. The choice to dispense with the fuse is one for individuals to make for themselves alone.

Does any one know the resistance of the 2 cents fuse the one that resets.
I would use it if reasonable.

That's designed for vaping in the higher registers (well above 1Ω, methinks). It's got a low trip rating (dunno, 2-3A?), and I'm sure they didn't design it around v-drop at the time. If you happen to vape at 1.5Ω or something; might be great.

Changed "leaf" peice that makes contact with battery via button. Much better reading for about 10 tokes then back to same horrid reading.

This is interesting. How much better was "better"? This sounds the problem with mine where the positive contact (that point on the leaf spring) oxidized rather quickly after each hit. Did you spot any arcing while you were pressing the button? That melted button is indicative of that happening. You might want to file the positive tip a little harder and apply Noalox.

I don't have Noalox (or any anti-oxidant contact grease) available here in my country so I ended up using Vaseline. I still have to file my positive contact every week or so to keep performance up. My positive contact has been worn to a flat end now.

Yes, when its not hitting worth a crap there is sparking. I have been using a nail file to touch it up maybe its time to step up to something with a little more umph.

Two reos same issue and possible same cause.
As for possible same cause both had a cyclone on them that I replaced the Allen screws with Phillips head screws. Somehow along the line fubared and the screw heads were touching when problem started. Not sure if related but did happen.
Both mods started by not "hitting" as they should. No th and no vapor volume. Good readings at battery and at 510 connector (no Atty installed) but then horrible reading at atty posts (Atty installed) So for rest of story I am talking about only one REO trying to fix one at a time.

Took apart and washed everything.
Put rm2 on so I don't make same mistake and take out a variable. Still poor Atty post reading
Button was melted so replaced. No change in Atty reading.
Changed spring, no change in Atty ready
Inspected 510 post insulator no visual damage to post or insulator.
Changed "leaf" peice that makes contact with battery via button. Much better reading for about 10 tokes then back to same horrid reading.
Gave up, grabbed a couple buddies made the 6 hour drive to Nashville TN and spent my next two or three dibis worth of money on a weekend drinking binge.
Back now, sober and lighter in the wallet but still stumped with the bad hitting reos.
I think that about sums it up.

FYI using twisted 28 ga at .6ohm and have tried several different batteries all with the same results.

I'm no expert... (but I play one on TV) But IMHO it sounds to me from your description that you may have a partially collapsed spring? If you take the spring from the working REO (or a spare if you have one) and try it... has the performance been restored? I have zero idea but I would think that as the spring gets hot the resistance goes up due to microcrystalline changes in the material... At least I sound like I have a clue?... Which reminds me? does anyone have a clue for sale currently? lol.

Edit: I missed where you said that you changed the spring... my bad :(

Yeah, a nail file will do the job just fine . .. . for about 6 hrs.

I noticed when I was using those a grit was left behind.

I had next to no problems with my Grand at the positive contact after adding the big button cover, it made it easier to get a "firm" contact as if perhaps I wasn't pushing down the button hard enough.

Noticed the same. Think the big ol cover should be standard. :)

That's the one I am vaping with right now. Awesome battery and I think better than the SX30. Yes 20A continuous. Mine is exactly the same length as my AW 1600's (including the button top)
