Alright guys, a Cyclone is a dirt-simple atty, right? I built a coil for it. About 8 wraps of 28 gauge on a 5/64" bit. Probably not optimal, but it's what I'm used to building for my Kayfuns. I put it on one of my dna 20s to check its resistance. "Check Atomizer". OK, try a different one. "Check Atomizer". Really? Try another. "Check Atomizer". Try the old iTaste VV V3 R0.0. OK, I must have done something wrong here. Take the coil out and repeat. Same thing! What? I've got a meter around here somewhere. Dead battery. Install new battery in meter. Nope, crappy China meter is shot.

So how the heck is it possible for brand-new Cyclone base to be shorted?

I'm starting to think there's some higher power trying to tell me I shouldn't vape this thing.

you also have to realise that on a DNA 20 you must hit over 1.2Ω coils or it'll tell you to naff off.
Ah.. No. I've let other folks try their atties with 0.8 ohm coils and it read their resistance and fired 'em just fine. A DNA 20 ain't a Provari. ;)

I was checking without the cap on. Then I took the coil out and checked again, still with no cap. No change.

I'll pick up a new meter tomorrow. I suppose I should have a working one.

if they are on sale get 2, reasoning: keep the other in a desk at work or sell it and make some $.

i'm not sure my reasoning would alter if HRH were twins, but the possibilities are miserable. i refer you to Harry Fenton Mudd.

oops. I missed that part.

Well then, harrumph, it's probably your thumb. :?:

I wonder if there isn't a little fleck of metal nestled between the center post and the base. Gotta push that frickin' post out. (or, just yell at mr. cyclone and get another one)

I also did the spring swap. this spring is very soft compared to the steel spring I've been using.

I agree that this spring and a better contact alone is all that's really needed here for it to be awesome, this thing hits really hard with lo voltage drop as is now, which is bone stock with just the spring and contact upgraded. to clean the contacts now just push the button in and turn it a bit while pressing it firmly, a built in semi auto contact refresher :)

anything past this modding wise becomes a matter of diminishing returns and isn't really needed and is probably more for the sport and the hobby end of it than actual necessity, but I DO still want to do full pure silver guts in this thing some day :p

I have on occasion broken the wire when tightening the post screws (screw had sharp ends-gave it a bit of filing). I have also found tiny bits of said broken wire inside the post (fished it out with a magnet). Does the coil have excessive play in it if you wiggle it a bit?

BTW, beautiful dibi! Looks almost like leather. A collectors dream.
