Val I'm really amazed by your dedication to wood. Soon you can build a house. But seriously they all look stunning.

Actually I'm surprised I'm the only one doing this considering there's more than 140 mods down the pipeline![]()

Just think how good he'll be by #14! These first runs will seem primitive.![]()
Hey Pdib, is spalted Oak Burl ok?

Yes, spalting is basically where the wood is rotting internally. It makes beautiful patterns but can make it very weak. As a woodturner I have turned spalted wood bowls and you definitely have to be careful when you have the wood spinning at 1000 rpm. Pieces of the wood can become very painful projectiles.I think Mark at Burl Source said heavy spalting creates weak spots that you need to stay with lightly splated. But I could be totally wrong.

Oooh... if you sent that piece for stabilizing and dying blue and yellow... you might get a swirly starry night from the top part.
Val, how many dibi are you getting made that you need THIS MUCH wood?
That would be a travesty. Sorry, but IMO that particular piece should NOT be dyed. When something looks that great in its natural state, you don't mess with it!Oooh... if you sent that piece for stabilizing and dying blue and yellow...
