I have no concerns about the functionality, quality etc. judging from all the high praises and multiple purchases from you all but since I'll be using the wood in my avatar for mine this gives me a chance to get the feel for one before committing my block. Its a win win to have 2 right. Worst case scenario someone would love to have one while waiting.....but I wouldn't get anyone's hopes up.

Who other than me passed on a dibi and delayed it at least one month because the wood I'm obsessed with is not currently available .... Noone? ... that's what I thought... /stupid

That is not stupid! Why get something you were not looking for just to get one? This will be a wonderful mod made out of just what you want to love and squonk and show off with pride! :thumb:

I'll post a pic of the block in a couple of days. That pic was knife scale (then sold) taken from the same block as mine. So

By the way what does it mean scales or blanks? Are these valid for our purposes?

No. Scales are thin and used to make knife and gun handles etc. Blanks I believe maybe thicker pieces used to make pens, duck calls etc but not large enough to make a sold mod. They can all be made I think from the same block if there is one that BIG. Mine in the past have been 2-3/8 wide by 4-1/4 long by 1-5/8 thick double dyed blocks.

EDIT:

I had a Masterpiece Mod that was not made from a solid block in other words separate top, bottom front, and sides that did not last too long. :(

Oh, and unsure is sayin' it like it is. We pretty much want only blocks, or oversized blocks actually. Which brings to mind, Mark's got a new section up at burlsource. Anything in that section (↓ OVERSIZED Blocks) will qualify for the sizes I need. So, easy browsing and clarity. Feel free to check with me, tho, as to my guess on material viability.

OH SHOOT! lookit that! He's got some of that Ringed Gidgee up there. I think I mentioned I handled/tooled/beat a piece of that stuff and it seems pretty tough.

Great prices compared to what I have had to pay for mine :glare: but I wonder if they ever have doubled dyed blocks and how much.

Only a month? I waited a lot longer than that. (At least it felt like it).

But hey when you're planning a Dibi, you should wait and only get the very best. It's like planning a family ;)

Nah not at all. I got you beat when posting stupid. :)

I doubt my traps will yield anything but I really do have a appt. with the "DIBI Rescue" and with enough of those dead presidents you mentioned should have this one I can checkout.

Are you planning on drugging Dennis and kidnapping one/all of his in some sort of Holmes/Moriarty confrontation?

Master of Bassets...and not much else.

Every time I catch up on this thread it's like I was reading a book and turned the page to find it blank.... Come on guys keep writing the story! Where's my snarky comments and inside jokes. Sometimes I start laughing and HRH asks me what I'm laughing at... Ummm... I can't explain but just trust me it's hilarious.

So after all this time...I have news. :) And I thought today was the right day to break the news, because... it's my vape-iversary!
hapydancsmil.gif

One year ago today, I picked up a small eGo battery, a cheap little plastic clearo, and a bottle of really-bad menthol e-juice from a local smoke shop. While there, I threw away my last half pack of Marlboro Menthols as a symbol of my resolve. And though the equipment was crap, and I had SO much to learn, I never smoked again... And the evolution has never ended... in no small part due to the wonderful people on ECF who welcomed me, taught me, and laughed with me.

Somewhere along the way, I was lucky enough to meet Peter here on ECF. And through a series of animated conversations via PM (mostly involving picking apart the faults in existing vaping equipment, and sharing ideas for the ultimate vape), I found myself urging him to create his own mod. (It was obvious his genius was wasted on futzing with other people's creations and inventing new ways to coil atties.)

Of course as you all know, the net result of this was... the reason you're all here! The Dibi/OlivR was born - straight out of the beautiful mind (and fingers) of Pdib, and I have been quietly doing happy dances since the start.

(Luckily for all of you this all happened behind the scenes and out of eye-shot, way out in the desert somewhere, so none of you had to see it.) ;) :p

So today I celebrate and lift a glass... Today I announce... that I am finally expecting my very own Dibi!

It took me a while to find the right stabilized, and to save the money. But the pieces came together and it won't be long now. I'm excited and grateful and enamored and proud all at once.

Can't wait to show off my baby to all of you when it arrives. No pictures yet, but I think it's going to be amazing. And I can't think of a better way to celebrate a year of a changed life.

Thank you to my vaping community and thank you Peter - you are an incredible creative force, and a wonderful person. I am so proud of you.
