Well, T-cad, it looks great! Wish I could take it for a test drive. Your ideas are infectious; so I took a few minutes to test your telescoping drip tip idea. Didn't have to take the time and creative effort to modify my atty. . . . .. so I just cut a length of brass tube, pickled it, and made it snug in one of my drip tips. I won't share results. It's your idea. I'll leave the grand finally to you.

the tube is a snug fit in the drip tip, so I can push it up or down but it stays where I leave it. The tip is plastic, so I won't short out if I touch bottom.
This idea was first found in the atmomixani steam machine vtr (variable temperature something). You were able to lower or higher the bell which changes temperature. It was a good idea but in the steam machine because of its length didnt do much for me. That was a long time ago and i wondered why noone used it after that. Great idea seeing it on the nuppin though.

yeah the odin is huge bang for the buck, that looks awesome, and those ain't no cell phone pics neither, that's for sure

Actually I took those with my iPhone 5. I bought one of those ōlloclip's and use the macro lens for the close-up's. One of these day's though I'm getting myself a real camera. Portability is one of the iPhone's big weaknesses. (As-in options for uploading)

In other matters. I think I'm making a slight change in the new squonk hole. A few people wanted the new, and at least half of them only for reasons of strength. I thought, myself, that it was a bit too . . . .. . "dynamic". I wanted something friendlier. The top drawing is what I presented. The bottom is the "improved" version. In my opinion, it's friendlier, more balanced, and less demanding on the eye. The only difference here is the radius of the top corner. The bottom radius remains at 1/2". The top went from 5/16" to 1/2". On both the "classic" and the new versions, I'm moving the squonk hole up a bit (I honestly feel that every little bit helps a lot). Measuring from the bottom of the body, it used to start at 7.5mm and end at 29.5mm: now it's 9mm and 31mm. Also, the radius of corners on the classic is going from 5/16" to 3/8".

Fascinating stuff, I know. :p

Hold on to your hats, kids!

there's room for a brief comment period. What, with the atty and all, the weekend didn't end up being about squonk hole cuts. I'm cutting today and starting with the "classic" mods.

Looks even better, I'm all for more strength, I've dropped, knock off table ... my current Dibi several times, almost weekly it seems, but I have never punt kicked it:2cool:

With this next one having matching stabilized burl plates instead of richlite it seems like the only way to go.

that clip does a good job, looks like your using better glass on a DSLR.

yeah, has the dslr macro lense look to me too. I'm anxious to play with the telescoping thing and see, I'm wondering if the bell end shape has any effect, I'm also thinking of trying a driptip extension that instead of one down facing hole, would have 2 side facing holes right towards the coils, like a Y at the end facing down... of course that would make it directional but that might be interesting...

I like the look of the new hole shape, I think the first one threw me off because the top seemed to angle down a bit so it looked more like a hood but this one looks nice and even 1.5mm raised opening will help, like you said every little bit helps, might add up to 50% stronger which is def a good thing :)

Another thing that's happening is that I've (through simple practice and repetition) improved my skills in the various processes of fabrication. What this means is that, when I'm sanding in final shape, I still have choices (I'm not almost snookered). Last run, I chose to leave a little more thickness in the walls. This increased the overall width of the mod by . .. . IDK, maybe a millimeter? But the thickness of the wall at the squonk hole is visibly fatter. (add another 50%) ;)

ha, now when I hear crying robot I just think of a cyclone afc that's leaking from the airholes

yeah I'm also going to use a delrin bushing since my whole deck is hot but I'll probably limit it to stop just above the deck anyway... aside from temperature I'm more concerned about the flavor tuning so I'll probably make mine threaded so micro changes can be made, when I did my cyclone reducer I noticed that even slight movement up and down made a noticeable change and I could fine tune it with just slight adjustments. I'm going to make something to try when I get a chance to

Wow so much R&D going on... great stuff everyone! Can't wait to try out that postless dibimatic atty! (given that is an option at time of purchase) I see a lot of benefit/options to postless but knowing me, I'll find a sweet spot and lean on it forever more than likely.

:offtopic:

I'm becoming a boring vaper. I'm pretty much stuck on the Reactor/OliveR, dual r41 @ .5 ohms with Goose Juice. Everything else just isn't that, sooo they (the other mods/atties) all just sit and glare at me. Going on week 4 on the Rene build in my Reactor, using the rayon now and it seems to be more resilient than the KGD cotton. Estimating about 120ml of juice vaped on the coils so far. Flavor seems to be a lil different compared to new (could be rayon too but eh not enough to make a difference to me. Think I'll see just how long this rene build will last.

Can't believe I am going to say this but, I can see myself only using/needing two mods after my second dibi OliveR is made. Currently use a woodvil for when my OliveR is being cleaned/serviced or if I'm somewhere the dibi shouldn't be. Haven't touched my metal reos in over a week. Speaking of exclusive use, so you all remember back in high school when you had to take care of an egg like a child? Well that is me, with my fragile redwood burl OliveR  carry my little microfiber burp rag with me so she doesn't get scratched in cup holders and such. haha Man I can't wait to get #2 :nun:

 you funny!

oh, wait, maybe that's not supposed to be funny. :|

So, in between cutting squonk holes, I drilled a couple of opposing lateral holes near the bottom of my tube (1/16", centered ~1.7mm from the bottom). I overextended my tube and shoved down on the drip tip until it seated. This, I believe, would set the tube firmly against the stubby centerpost and leave the lateral holes just below the centerline of the coils and the airholes. A small improvement. Mind you, the tube at all, or even the tube with lateral holes is a definite improvement in flavor; however, we're talking in the 5-10% degree (not 50%). Say 5% with tube and 10% with lateral holes.

Haven't touched my metal reos in over a week.

Took 3 mods with me on vacation, OliveR, DNA30BF, Reo Grand, 2 chargers, 2 sets of eliquid, some MM, a plethora of batteries, rayon, tools for a rebuild, minor bits and pieces like fuses, extra RM2 screws, O-rings, etc.

I had the Grand and DNA30BF all cleaned up with empty bottles and fresh coils and wicks.

Used OliveR 90% of the time and DNA30BF 10% of the time.

The Grand is sitting lonely on my desk still empty with fresh coil and wick.

I can only give it some solace with the fact that it is still on my desk and all my other non hand built mods are cleaned and packed away.

Well, back to work for this one.

I'm going to need a vacation after I get caught up from vacation.
