Alright this damn rm2 cap is stuck. I have tried everything! I have soaked it in alcohol, let it sit in the freezer, everything short of taking it to a vice and using a pair of pliers.... Anyone got any good ideas?

Try putting some thin cardboard around the base and holding it with multigrips. Heat the cap with boiling water and immediately try to remove it with leather gloved hand, or some similar method. The idea is the heating of the cap (and not the base) will expand the cap slightly and loosen the threads just enough to get it unscrewed.

ETA - you could take it one step further and use a cigarette lighter (or even a gas torch) to heat the cap, but it might discolor the finish on the cap. A very hot heat gun would be ideal.

I went through that crazy cap removal with the Steam Turbine... omfg that was bad. What finally worked was dripping pg/vg into the seam and letting it soak in for a while, then screwing it onto a Provari and using that as a handle/crowbar, then bending the top while twisting to try to break the seal (I wouldn't try this on any mod but Provari, I've yet to see the mod with the strength the Provari has in the top).

Also, for the RDA, I had a similar problem with a couple of them, and discovered that they aren't screw off tops, but like drip tip, there were 2 Orings holding the caps on (don't know about RM2). This happened to me with both the ERA and the Igo-F. After pulling out hair trying to turn the caps (if they are held by o-rings, twisting only makes them harder to turn)... I decided to pull UP. And pop, off the top came.

If you're sure they are twist, other idea is cut 2 thick rubber bands and use them as grips on either side if you have enough surface area to grip. This doesn't work if you don't have enough surface to grip on both sides of the threads.

Let us know how you end up getting the top off:).

Before I went vice or wrenches I would hit the inside by the threads with Liquid Wrench penetrating oil.

Would WD-40 be just as effective?

Not really I had used PB blaster on my jeep then read this study and switched to Liquid Wrench, works a lot better. Kroil is lot more expensive.

Taken from a Jeep Forum thread.

They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrates with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.

*Penetrating oils ........... Average torque load to loosen*

No Oil used .................. 516 pounds
WD-40 ........................ 238 pounds
PB Blaster .................... 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ............... 127 pounds
Kano Kroil ..................... 106 pounds

Y'all are making me think I'll opt for a DIBI dripper (I'm sure I will anyway if they're available by my turn). So, if that happens, will it come prebuilt? Say, with a dripping dibby crack coil?

Oh, sure . . . . . . let me just go shut down all the machines, call a few people and bounce them off the list, miss my 18th anniversary dinner date with the wife, set my retirement fund accrual on a longer schedule, order up some EXTRA kanthal, cancel that trip to see the relatives in Hungary (whom I haven't seen for, like, 5 years), set my alarm for 3:03 A.M., and let the grass grow long . . . . . . . .. B.T. needs a dibby crack coil. :p

Wow, you would do all that for me? <sniff>

I did forget to add a smiley to that suggestion. Glad you got it.
