Alright this damn rm2 cap is stuck. I have tried everything! I have soaked it in alcohol, let it sit in the freezer, everything short of taking it to a vice and using a pair of pliers.... Anyone got any good ideas?

This happened to me quite a few times which is another reason I prefer the o-ring type caps to screw-in caps. I do hope an RM3 comes out featuring dual o-rings (or maybe even with AFC) , now that would make it perfect!

Anyway, I went straight for the pliers and terry cloth every time that happens :toast:

Hi,Val... I'm Mike...you know..."that guy". :)

As for how I got two:

Well, my uncle, Michael Corleone, got them for me. He said he'd make the guy an offer he couldn't refuse. I said, in that case, I'll take two.:D

But seriously, all the beta testers got two.............j/k.;)

No really...he agreed to making two for me just to get the practice????:?:

Or, how bout this, he thinks I'm a really hot chick and.....No, not buying this either?

Fact is, I don't know why. Maybe I'm the only beta who asked. I know that Peter is a very kind and generous soul. In any case, I bees very, very grateful and happy the bumble bee smiled upon me.

Yous' folk are gonna love your beautiful pdib mods insert exclamation point cause my key is broken

Nice thing is, when you have two mods, your vote counts twice in a beta-testers' survey. ;)

(either that, or I just liked your answer)

RM2 cap screws on.

Oh. I like the o-ring ones better... full sized big mods are already frustrating enough, trying to twist teensy pieces of metal is a miserable experience. Actually, I'm really dying to see what master wizard pdib does to modify the lumps of metal he's getting:).

A screw-on cap has its advantages too, it cannot come off accidentally (or even on purpose sometimes apparently :)) and the air-hole always lines up.

Dibi, here's that YK1 thing you were asking about days ago. Center post is plated brass and presses out in one piece. Vapes well, can have o-ring issues. $5.93 YK1 Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping Some people dislike the idea of running a cheap clone on a quality mod, and I can see their point.

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1406704 this arrived today looks interesting, small chamber, not a clone of anything I know of but might be? Looks like AFC will work. Looks reasonably well-machined too at first glance. I'm not a fan of AFC but it seems to be a popular feature.

Pdib, I think you should order 1 of each of the cheap clones from Fasttech to compare. While I think it's mystery metal or plated from what I've seen, there's no way to know til you have them in hand. I placed a small order with Fasttech last month because I needed a resistance tester (so I can build sub-ohms), and what looked like decent flashlights. I actually ordered a Convoy C8 Cree flashlight... only 7" long, for $16.51. That's a lot of money from Fasttech. I was very disappointed by how cheaply made it was. I could have gotten a nicer one at Costco, for the same price and better quality. Everything I ordered was all 4+ stars, so the reviewers apparently have very low standards.

The 2nd link's body is similar to the atomizer I sent him, but my drip tip is much nicer. It does say stainless in the ad also. But mine is 303 machine grade steel, no idea what stainless that there is. Also, they don't show photos of the internals of that one, which is unusual, since they usually show the entire unit taken apart. Is it because the connectors are brass? Brass can contain lead.

There's no substitute for seeing and holding something to compare. Fasttech however is not known for quality. And when I said mine were inexpensive, I also said they were not cheaply made. I now wish I got some atomizers from Fasttech too. I didn't think of it at the time, I just wanted an atomizer tester and flashlights.

If you have some already... maybe you can send yours to Pdib to test at the same time too?

Scroll down for pics Photos: FastTech Forums

or try this link
mine doesn't have the dished floor under the coil though, which the YK1 does.

Someone else posted this one too, I have a couple they seem good.

I'm not sending Dibi anything, I don't want him to stop his machines just to take a look at an atty :)

I must be one of the unlucky ones bec. I have two of them RM2s and I have to use o-rings to line up the holes.

That one looks promising and very much like the ERA V5

Yeah, the RM2 airhole seems to shift. I don't know if the soft brass threads cause the "stopping point" to shift too readily, or what. I could never find an o-ring that happened to be the exact right size. What I took to doing is wrapping black sewing thread (black because it tastes better .. . . . . .. ) around the base of the threaded area. I'll have the cap mostly on, to help guide the thread into a slot. Then wrap 5-7 times around, check it, wrap a few more times. When it's good, I tie a half hitch, tighten the cap, and snip the ends off.

Mine is a Phoenix which is damn near identical to your pic. If I look at this thing funny the cap comes off. I hate it!

Why does no one put their attys in the freezer?
I use this trick for snug fit drip tips...

i would cry if i had to take pliers to my mods.....
And now you people are resorting to WD & PB blaster?
Since when was that a good idea?

Work smarter, not harder!

nothing to see here....
