You vaped a stock coil... eeeew lol

I don't think I've even fired a stock coil, to be honest.

Well... I boiled it first, then I spent more time tweaking the coils to be round and even again than I would have to rewrap it, so it's not so bad:). Mostly because it's a dual coil and I would have wrapped it as a single, so I wanted to see what their dual coil was like...(now I know that my single coils work better than stock duals). The stock coils are really thin... like 34 ga or so... but they don't seem to fire faster for some reason.

I found this tip that would be AWESOME addition to it... Circuit Board (green) ... cb3 – Drip Tip Designz

Ha! I'm vaping with the PRE-COILED SILICA wick and it's fine =] I thought that message was for me :p

EDIT: I just have to mention... my favorite part of using a BFer is... taking a long draw, pull the BFer away and look at the vapor drifting out, slowly curling up and away, and then *SQUONKING* and seeing the vapor trail abruptly END :p

Need some battery advice please. I've been running the AW1600's in my Grands and had planned to use them in my OliveR as well, but all this talk about different batteries has me wondering if I'm missing out.

For some background, in the Grand (stock, unmodified) I run a twisted 28g Nichrome 7 wrap coming in at about .7Ω. I can go through about 3mls of juice before I feel the need to swap the batteries. Remaining voltage at that point is usually around 3.7v. So, is there a battery out there that might give me a better experience, ie longer usable battery life? Bonus points if they would also work in the Grand, which will upgraded with the new contacts as soon as they are available.

Muchas Gracias...

So there's a couple batteries that can handle the same Amps as the AW1600 but have more mAh. The Samsung INR 18650 20R 2000mAh is one of those. Another would be the Sony VTC4. Both flattops. Rob said the new firing pin design will be ok with flatttops when I asked him a while back.

I imagine being that thin they heat faster...

GG are you having issues with the finish on your woody's sinking into your juice? I feel like I'm vaping varnish by the taste...Otherwise it is a fantastic mod though I prefer Dib's squonk hole...

Well... the FIRST thing I did was coat both of them with Vaseline... inside and out. You can't really taste varnish tho, the varnish is dry and there's no varnish exposed anywhere. I have 1 natural wood and 1 varnished Woodville. The vaseline didn't stick on the varnished one, but it insulated the inside of it, which wasn't varnished, and the back of the door.

What you are most likely tasting is the dirty oil and residue in the machined 510 adapter... and maybe your uncleaned atomizer... uncleaned atomizer can make you REALLY sick.

Going to repaste here what I put in my coop thread. You guys may have more experience than me with coils and ohms and such, but you probably don't spend a lot of time thinking about cleaning the goodies you vape on:p. I learned that lesson early on... new metal stuff = GROSS taste most of the time, or possibly mouth sores from vaping the machine oil.

It's bit longwinded, but maybe helpful:).

So if you want to use the pre-assembled coil, you do this:

Cleaning your RBA (and anything else that will house what ends up in your lungs):
1. take it apart (leave the coil on!), put in a coffee mug with a few drops of dish soap, pour HOT (not quite bubbling boil but almost) water on it. Stir, let stand til cool.
2. pour it out, rinse in hot water under sink (leave it in the cup so nothing goes down your disposal/drain), add big splash of white vinegar, and pour near boiling water on it again. Let stand til cool.
3. Rinse thoroughly in hot water, so there's no smell, vinegar, soap coming off it at all. Now you're ready to play with it.

IF your RBA has ANY possible chromed brass parts, you will add between above steps 2 & 3 a mix of 50/50 white vinegar with Hydrogen Peroxide. Let your pieces soak in it for 15 minutes or so. Not too much longer, this can actually damage your stainless, but not too short, because it won't work. What this does is neutralizes the surface LEAD possible in any exposed brass under inadequate chroming..
Inhaling lead = brain damage. Don't do it without this step.

In case you don't have any:
Get THIN tweezers or dental pick. I like these, they're cheap, pointy and work for many purposes while wrapping: Amico Anti-static Straight Pointy Tip Tweezers Forceps Pliers Repair Tool 5.5" Long - Amazon.com

Doesn't have to be the above brand, that's just to show you what type to get. I like these in particular tho because they are also anti-static, so you can use them for circuit boards (if you want to solder or poke your kick, etc). One pair should last you forever unless you lose or break them. They are pretty good metal, so tough to bend. Pointy tweezers are as cheap as $.96 tho. These are $5 but if you have Amazon Prime, shipping is free, so turn out to be the better overall deal.

While you're at it, if you are blind as a bat, get a magnifying lamp with a light on it, or you will really hate making wraps. I use this one, but there's a LOT of other choices, smaller, cheaper, table, floor, clamp on, etc :
Amazon.com : Fulcrum 20072-401 Magnifier 12 LED Floor Lamp : Needlepoint Magnifier : Home Improvement

If you need 4 hands and only have 2, get something like this (called "helping hands". We use it in jewelry work, also used for electronics soldering people (solder holder on it too, see?):
Amazon.com : NEEWER® 5 LED Helping Hand Magnifier Magnifying Jewelry Loupe Soldering Clip Stand : Home Improvement

Ok. To business.

Now, under magnification, with your tweezers, look to see if the wires are still connected on both ends into the posts. Yours are, or it wouldn't fire..

Next, check the coils..
Are they not touching the ground, or any metal part (away from cap itself? that will ground and mess it up)..
Are the coils evenly SPACED? if 2 coils touch, they create a hot spot or a short, and it will taste bad and not work right..
Use tweezers to make sure your teeny coils are properly SPACED.

Then, check wick. Is the wick evenly filling the coils? if not, gently squish the coils a little bit so they are round, and actually TOUCHING the wick..

Now, after making sure your coil actually looks like a coil, is evenly spaced and no wire is touching itself or any metal nearby. Add some juice to it so the coil is wet. Now, don't put cap back on, screw it on your atomizer and just fire it..

Does the coil light up EVENLY all over, or did it have a hot spot, which is a spot that turns red/white before any other part of the wire does? If that's the case, then you have to adjust again, it's touching a part of another wire. If it's spaced right, you could just have a problem spot on the wire, which can be 'pulsed' out by simply pressing the fire button at intervals of a few seconds til it turns red, then cooling, then pulsing again. If nothing you do works, you will have to rewrap that wire..

Sounds like a pain above huh? It is. But you'll get faster and better at it the more of it you do. Let me tell you that it will NEVER taste as good as a good wrap you do yourself to taste!!!.

(find your wrapping videos for your particular atomizer on youtube or here).

2 parts Vinegar to 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide.

Well, my hydrogen peroxide is kind of old:p. LOL! (H2O2 turns into water over time, as the individual molecules lose the extra O to oxidation).

It's really the acetic acid pulling the weight here, the peroxide is to help get the acid to stick to the metals better.

Oh... had another thought... did you wash your plastic bottle, and wipe down the rubber tubing in the woodville before you put juice in it??

Just ordered a pair of both. Nothing like new batts for a new mod!

My vape-averssary is on Sunday, and the city of Sacramento is holding a vape meet to celebrate it (consieted) so I understand how you feel.

With luck, my OliveR will be done within a couple of days after and then I'll be truly happy. Let's hear it for pdib!!!!
