Did you get that from Arizona Ironwood? That where my block came from. It's purty.

I got that block from bad dog at burlsource.com (not burlsource.us). He had next to nothing in the right size available but had just gotten a shipment in when I emailed him (lucky me!), so I bought it sight unseen.... I'm glad I did.

It looks nice, and pdib is trying to make the matching caps and button for me so, fingers crossed. :D

Second night in FL. OliveR on night stand as usual. Woke up this morning, picked her up to vape and DNF again. Tried several times; no joy. Put her down, unplugged dna mod from charger, vaped that, spent some quality time in the bathroom, came back, tried again. She fired, but a bit reluctantly at first, then better and better, and she's been working fine now. I deliberately didn't haven't pulled either of the caps off so as not to disturb anything.
I'm puzzled. Whatever is causing this isn't the firing button; that got cleaned and upgraded yesterday, so it's gotta be one of the other contacts. The question is, which one?
Yes, I have air conditioning, so the humidity isn't outrageous. But I am this close to the ocean and everything made of metal corrodes like mad here due to the salt in the air. Of course that's much worse outside than inside, but even inside, brass and copper develop patina much faster here than anywhere else I've ever been....

With that copper plate and salt air - next morning I would pull the top cap real quick and give the button assembly just a couple of spins. That usually picks things up for me until I get a chance to clean it.

My next one is getting the copper plate. Let us know when you resolve your morning hard starts.

I's been about 3 weeks now between button cleanings and I'm not using Deoxit or Noalox. We'll sometimes a light film of Deoxit on my battery ends because I'm sharing batteries with my REO. Of course This is with all new button spring and post upgrade goodies.

Here is a GIF I made of a few of the expensive pics I had taken the other day.
Seems I have a major blow out. :(
("Incisional hernia in the epigastric region which contains peritoneal fat as well as a loop of small bowel" In Doc terms)
1st surgery week after next. :(
2nd surgery depends on recovery time from first. :(
Doc says it is dangerous and no physical labor now till probably the end of the summer. :(
Good part is the report said that my lungs were clear. :)

I would definitely start by applying a very light coat of some top quality goop/smearin's. I haven't researched what's best . . . . de-oxit gold, maybe?

(in the button hole, on the button stem . . . . pulling the spring and getting some up at the top of the button stem too, on the battery's ends, bottom battery contact, both ends of the centerpost, and the contacts that meet those ends)

hopefully, with some good quality goopus, you wouldn't have to do that too often.

Conversely, you could just lay down on the sidewalk and drip your e-liquid directly onto the hot pavement.

Ouch man, those CT pics aren't cheap, but way cheaper than MRI. Best of luck to you and I hope for a fast recovery on both! Good to hear on lungs.

What sidewalk? I'm on a sand road. And it's 74F, with narry a cloud in the sky here. :p

But yes, I'll head into town in a bit to pick up some goop.

Good luck to you mundy! Did you get it done at a hospital? Through insurance? If not, contact them and negotiate down the prices- they are quartermaster rates, way inflated for insurance claim submissions. With no insurance they will come down on them!

Think it was Filthy-Beast who mentioned he uses deoxit shield and I have used the gold in the past. Here is some info and it looks like the shield would be best to use. When do I use DeoxIT® vs DeoxIT® Gold, DeoxIT® Shield or DeoxIT® Fader?

I use DeoxIT Shield, too, though I just used the Gold on my SO Reo.

Rossum, if you're in my part of FL, don't bother looking for Noalox at Lowes. They have some sort of crappy substitute right there on the shelf that the site claims is Noalox. At least it was crappy for my SS mods. Radio Shack has DeoxIT here. If they don't where you are, a musical instrument store might carry it. You might also want to consider NO-OX-ID "A SPECIAL", though I've never seen it in a B&M. It works very well and is much less expensive than DeoxIT if that's a concern.

Through insurance, but the surgeries will blow my $5,000 out of pocket for the year.
