I'm talking about the part where good quality IMR and Hybrid batteries don't explode . . . . . . are actually quite safe . . . ."Modern batteries are extremely safe compared to those we used to have. If a genuine IMR or hybrid rechargeable cell is destroyed by sub-ohming or some kind of fault, then what appears to happen is that it melts down without any significant out-gassing." . . . . he says.

personally I think many here way over exaggerate battery safety concerns but to stay politically correct and not have people arguing with me I don't ever say much about it, like personally I think a fuse is totally unnecessary but so many would argue that, so I just run mine with no fuse and that's that :)

I've been running mine with no fuse for a long time now. And, in testing fuses, I've shorted out IMR batteries for 10-15 second spans, repeatedly. But, however I may choose to run my mod, I need to be considerate of the safety and the preferences of my peeps. rolygate's post basically brings home the fact that running a mech mod on an authentic, reliable, quality, IMR/Hybrid battery with no hard short safety feature (hot spring, fuse, what have you) isn't necessarily asking to blow the proverbial nuts off the squirrel. One big concern that comes to mind, tho, is the bogus/counterfeit batteries.

Hi all

Finally got through all the posts in this thread. Took a while lol. Looking forward to getting my dibi sometime next year. I've been vaping for over 2 years now and have recently been bitten by the bottom feeder bug. Spending a lot of time in Reoville and here and I have been inspired by all the modding going on.

I've got a question for all the folks who have modded their attys for bf. Everything I've read on here says that you pull the positive pin for drilling. Is it necessary? Or can I just drill through it while its still on the atty? Sorta like the guy in this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFj92vGrOaY

I'm a newb at modding so all help would be appreciated :) Thanks!

Quigs's video is they way I drill my center post. (All of his stuff is really good modding info....BTW) You only need to pull your positive post to either slot the post length wise with a dremel (an alternate to drilling) or to drill a new second hole precisely at the atty base level so you get complete drainage. Some people skip the second hole and just use the existing wire hole in the post for juice to atty chamber flow and then use the top of the post to secure the wire with the screw head, like Quigs did in the part 3 of those video. They all work, just a matter of personal preference.

EDIT: Xobe beat me to it....^^yea what he said too.

Thanks for posting that. I've looked for bf tutorials before and never found anything.
I think many of the ones on here usually end up pulling the pin when it starts spinning in the atty. also, depending on the whether the atty has side walls or not, you need to remove it to drill through the side of the pin.

Just bought some ramie...I'm excited to try it....That is something I never thought I would type.

ETA: Also I have organic cotton balls (two bags, they were on sale) half a bag of regular cotton balls and 120 pads of the Koh Gen Do cotton. I think I'll have enough wicking material for the entire state when the ramie comes in!

I vape no lower than .8 ... I'm not sure the super-heating is all THAT much risk, depending on what temp they consider super heating. It's obviously not hot enough to burst into flames for example...

Do a dry burn with some juice left on a silica wick and you will see flames... just sayin...

Regarding "Ramie":

I hate to be the town crier here but does anyone really know how safe this is for vaping? I've been reading a little regarding the processing of this fiber and I'm concerned about the chemical process called "chemical degumming" which is required for the end product. Anyone interested can read about it here: http://assamagribusiness.nic.in/ramie.pdf Pay particular attention to pages 20-22 (especially 22).

et: It all sounds pretty benign until you get to page 22.

I just read that, also at the end it says this:

After degumming, the ramie fibre is commercially a pure cellulosic composed of
96 to 97% cellulose, 3 to 4% -cellulose and 0.1 to 0.2% ash

what the heck do I know, I just seen guys using and raving about ramie so I tried it and it's great to me :D... honestly I don't think the wick gets burned or gives off anything but again, what the heck do I know :p

I just made a wick by grinding walnut shells to a fine paste mixed with distilled water. I then folded that into (50/50) diatomaceous earth and formed tiny little crescents and baked at 275 for half an hour. I take three of these crescents and position them in a little row (tip of one to concave center point of next). Then I wrap them in a single layer of cotton underpants fabric (ladies . . . . . not mens). Slide that into a tight micro coil. You should try it. It's great! :|

also just realized that what we're using is not degummed ramie it's called "ramie top" whatever the heck that is... no one has found a good source of ramie degummed fiber yet. the hemp fiber is degummed fiber but the ramie is ramie top

Raymond is a top. Check.

Nope, not gonna research raymond's top. Just let us know if you start losing (or developing new) appendages.:D
