I understood what you meant by promotion rate, but I thought it was in a corporate environment rather than a military one.

Me too. Social issues always make me a bit mad.
what makes me mad is not being able to wirelessly summon a portable waffle when and where I want one.

I actually opened a waffle stand last week. I can custom make you a waffle, but it'll take 2-3 weeks to get there. I'm not sure if the ice cream will stay frozen that long.

EDIT: that is, as long as sequestration doesn't cause our promotion rates to plummet again. Whit what I scored this year, I'd have easily been promo'd the last five cycles. This year was rough since the Air Force cut so many positions, they didn't want to fill as many.

I once lost 3 months of work due to a hard disk failure on an IBM XT - it just happened to be a finals dissertation, and all i have to say is staying up for 36 hours to replicate the work is interesting when you can see things climbing walls.
64k is enough as soon as you think in machine code, and until i can do that i'm quite happy to use HRH's and my combined 9Tb of disk space. Make an animation and see how far 64k gets you!

I'm an ex-programmer and when I hear 64k I think of code overlays. Yuch!!!. Give me all the ram you can cram in the box.

I was stationed at Lakenheath 80-82. I liked it over there.
Most of the locals treated us very well. But the younger guys had a complaint about us Yanks.
They said we were ok with the exception being that we were oversexed, overpaid and over here.

Wow, old timer (you were here when I was 1 year old in '80!) I bet you got a few stories about this place. You wouldn't recognize it now though I'm sure.
Nowadays, they just charge rent cap at like £1250 a month for TSgt's. Then the rest of the locals get P.O'd saying that we cause the local landlords to jack up the prices LOL.
I like it here also, been here since August '09, here till August '15.
I feel ya brother. I've been trying to pick up 5 since march of last year. Missed cutoff by 3 points last month. Points will post this month in the next day or so. Army promo system is so jacked up. I watch total turds advancing just because they are understrength jobs. Medic is so overstrength it's been near impossible to get promoted.
Add in the fact that I am now banned from the Army Physician Assistant program because the new AR670-1 bars enlisted with too many tattoos from commissioning. I'm going to be dropping my flight paramedic packet after this deployment. That is the only thing that will keep me in uniform at this point. If I dont get accepted, dirty monkey vapeworks will become my full time job when this contract ends.

Yeah, I think all promo systems are jacked up right now. All branches are culling bodies, and not backfilling those positions. I got guys that work for me trying to make 6, and they saw my 7 results... now they are worried.
Good luck to you though, guys in your type of job SHOULD get promo'd.

Ain't cheap... but if he saved while he's gone, could be worth it. OR, he might be really attached, and doesn't want to get rid of them LOL.
Yes glassgal, unfortunately, folks in the military have regulations/standards to follow, and they can "correct" us, or deny things if we do not meet those minimum standards.
